do you really think they would release the game before summer? i dont know about you guys but i spend alot of that time outdoors not inside. but i live in bc and spring would be a perfect release. its slushy and cloudy outside. perfect for gaming
Well yes before the summer a huge part of the gaming community will be getting out of school to spend their parents hard earned money as most of us have done before. Summer is my favorite season and I love being out in the warm, but the second that game drops ill get a better router so i could play outside.
I've been anxiously awaiting this release (of course) and have been following all the information I can find about it. Blizzard is obviously withholding any leaks about the date, so it's all coming down to guessing and hypothesis.
Being that money (i.e. success) will be one of their main objectives with this release, it would be worth taking into account other games that are being launched around the same time. Games such as Star Wars, Tera, etc... On one hand: Blizzard is an unstoppable powerhouse when it comes to online gaming and especially online gaming communities, so they don't have a lot to worry about. However, from a corporate financial executives standpoint; I would be looking at these other games and formulate a launch strategy that would put them ahead. The release date for Tera is May 1, and since this will likely be the biggest competitor, launching before that date could be a good strategy to reel in the client base. Also, falling conveniently before the release date for Tera is the end of the fiscal quarter.
Also, it seems that the development of the game is following a set schedule. They are putting out patches more frequently, and final touches on things, and within a window of the traditional 1-2 months of 'safety room' for error elimination. The current progress of their development with the beta (especially when compared to Blizzard's previous beta testing history) suggests that they are within 2 months of a final product.
So when looking at both the possible financial strategies, and the development schedule, it is safe to say that we're looking at the release being somewhere between April and May. Also, it seems like they superstitiously like to release their games on tuesdays... that being said, I'll put my money on 4-17-2012!
Looking at known games releases there's mass effect 3, total war 2, Resident evil: Operation Raccoon City in march risen 2, Of Orcs and Men in April Game of Thrones, The Exiled Realm of Arborea, Max Payne 3in May Fallout MMO, Spec Ops , The Secret World MMO, Darksiders 2 in June
I said before end of June but from this to me April would be a good time to release, although there are still games out there yet to have release dates, you know which one.
And I think April would be the SMARTEST for them to release in, it may be little known but 'graduate presents' at the end up april do contribute to a recognizable spike in electronic sales... then follow it through with the fact summer vacation is starting (or going to in a couple months) for many people... it's the perfect time to get out there.
I'm hoping the 24th (Tues) in april get's released as a relese date soon, but I wouldn't be suprised if it ends up being as late as June 4th (tues).
We think you’re going to love Diablo III when it’s released, and speaking of release plans, you can seriously expect a launch-date announcement from us in the near future. See, I didn’t say “soon,” so I’m not taunting you. You’ll know as soon as I know for sure the exact date.
that Jay.... he so silly, he just cant help himself

You know they keep pushing the dates back and back. Recently they fired their lead director and now they have done a bunch of rebalances. I remember around christmas time when they swore up and down that the release date would be 21 March. Now I'm a sad panda LOL. I just hope its this year.

No one was fired, and they never gave a release date before. They had a target for 2011 and a target for 'early' 2012, but they have never set a date... I don't understand where people get their ideas about these things.

Probably at least a minimum 6 weeks from the announcement to the release. My guess would be about 8 weeks in between based on what has been said.
