After reading todays news from this site I now see that the quote you guys posted on your main page a few days back of Jay saying "what we have is for ship" was entirely out of context. Here I was thinking well shit aye its ready where is our release, all he was talking about was skills being unlocked was ready for ship.
meh, you only have yourself s to blame for you frustrations. stop getting your hopes up. look forward to the game, hope it comes out soon. but dont be all upset when it doesnt come out when you think it should. regardless of what any of you say, the game will sell MILLIONS of copies. and very fast, and will most likely have a lot of people playing it for a long time. in 5 years people would read a thread like this and laugh at us.
calm down, go have a smoke or whatever you choose to do to relax, and stop flaming Blizzard corp or employees for your inability to separate fantasy (when you think it comes out) from reality (when it will actually come out).
but meh, nobody is going to actually listen to any suggestions anyone posts here. thats the nature of the internet i guess....
sooo... rant on my web brothers, rant on.
Except that legitimate damage is being done to their brand image and community relations. It has nothing to do with copies that will be sold, legit damage is being done right now and if you dont realize that then you are completely ignorant of marketing and PR as departments of business in general.
Damage would be done, no matter how fast they will throw out the game.
The peoples complaining on the internet, about how slow they are, is around 5% of the players who is going to play the game. The rest almost don't care, and can actually wait for the game to be released in silence.
Just because you see alot of peoples talk about it, doesn't mean it is everybody. You gotta remember lot of players don't even go to forums to complain.

I would have no problem at all if the game was released in 1, 2 or 6 months. Whats bothering me is how Jay is saying "in the coming weeks" "sign of release" "counting down the days untill release date annoucement"
Still, we gets nothing at all.
If Jay just shut the fuck up and released the game in 4 months, I would be happy.

I don’t ever post rage, nor do I involve myself in these discussions but I have to defend some of the people on the negative:
Most of the resentment stems from the trail of sour cookie crumbs being dropped by Jay and the people following the game closely are being forced to pick up and ingest,
Everything he says has allusion, and it makes a lot of the community impatient.
Change the game, delay the game, its yours to do so with as you wish, But don’t freaking lead people on with “Coming weeks” and Very soon” and “9 out of 10”…
Don’t preach to me your standards of quality, the reasons why your superior methods insure us the consumer a greater product by delaying the game and then cut pvp out of the game so you can release it!!! Don’t tell me the years of hard work making it and then cutting Death throw animations, not having the Monks combat animations complete to name a few.
Don’t say anything about release, reveal your changes keep us informed but don’t prat-on about releases until you know for a fact the release date..
And don’t shove sweet warm fancies under people’s noses only to snatch them away like a greedy little fat kid with so much cake.
This is why most people are raging.. You’ll have others that are just idiotic trolls but in general, I think these are fair reasons to be upset.
hollow wolf... i NEVER post on the forums.. i actually finally linked my curse account to this website just to post this haha... i am an avid reader however and i didnt know quite exactly why i was pissed at blizzard but you nailed it.... am i still gonna play when it comes out.. of course... however i think the people at blizzard need to check themselves and stop pretending like highschool girls....

Excellent post. This guy understands.
If you don't feel mislead, or that blizz can do no wrong, then thats great and more power to you. But if you can't even understand why some people are reacting the way they are then you must be denser than lead.

As far as I'm concerned it still perfectly possible that the rest of the week could hold an announcement because everyone claims this MoP press event will take all the spotlight, but given the NDA isnt over until monday it means not alot of info will come out this week for MOP anyway, why can't they release Diablo 3 info through the week?
of course its jsut as likely we won't get anything aswell, so yeah, one day it will happen one day.
Because apparently all the release dates from Blizz have been announced on a Monday. Which leaves next monday (MoP) or the following Monday (26th), or so everyone says. I think they might make an exception for this release date since it's been a long time coming.
wow I leave for work and return to a forum of rage faces.
I have to think a lot of the people raging is coming from a younger player base. I think most of the "older" gamer base has a lot more priorities to start getting all pouty because it didn't come out when they wanted it to.
If you want to see people who legitimately have a reason to be upset go look at the Mass Effect 3 guys...I feel sorry for that fan base. They basically got bent over a reamed and told "you don't tell me how to rape you."
A delay on the game does nothing. Even if I can agree that Jay Wilson has chosen his words poorly it doesn't go to the point of saying it was intentional for a PR stunt. The actual announcement of the release date may have been taken from them by the priorities of different announcements going on. If you're legitimately upset, wait till after they announce so that you may voice your concern once they call fully disclose all of their decisions.
Whats more is...It's still fully possible we could receive it today or tomorrow and all the rage faces are going to look quite silly. I don't think gladhehasbeta is even remotely close by saying it will be friday considering bashiok already commented on fridays event being "nothing special" if I remember correctly.
I'll just throw this in too. the fact that people complain about how long the game is taking is indicative that quality is not on their mind(the people complaining). I'm anxious for release as well, but I wouldn't sacrifice a bit of quality for a quick release. If they're taking a long time, it shows that they care about what they're actually releasing. We could always go to a Final Fantasy timeline and get one every year, but that doesn't leave any room for innovation, good plot with few plot holes, an immersive gaming experience, or a well developed game with few bugs.
removing 20 already implemented features/systems to "not delay it any further"
if you read back a few pages in this thread a discussion about this was already had. its only actually been a handful. as some of the things where never implemented to begin with. Such as the custom death anims. The runes and a few other things where not removed either, just redesigned. dont take it out of proportion.
on another note, im glad to read through here and see some other people chime in about the overreactions going on. Good to know im not the only one who sees it.
@osky good post. i agree with most of that wholeheartedly. I also thought it was entertaining watching the people complaining about the lack of release quoting Jay as saying "in the coming weeks". when its the beginning of the week. Blizzard does have a history of doing things on Monday, but its not a law, they can change that if they feel the need.
It will come soon, in the near future, in the coming weeks and a 9 on a 1-to-10 scale. How hard is that to understand?!?
This thread is a speculation thread, we speculate here. So if your annoyed by the speculation going on, just move on with your attitude to another thread.
I guess you completly missed the obvious sarcasm/humor attempt? Good job being a jerk, though. Maybe you should adjust your attitude? Even if I came here to spew crap, you're not the one to tell me to piss off.

it's getting a "little" ridiculous, its not like they dont know the date yet...
Says the Blizzard insider? Actually you don't know for shit if they know the release date or not. You don't really seem to grasp how these things work.
It's actually much more likely that Jay Wilson himself doesn't even know the release date. Why? Because they are probably working hard on a few very important bugs (the login bug that caused alot of players to be unable to play the beta for one). So they don't know if they will have those bugs fixed tomorrow, or in a week. Maybe they catch a lucky break and the developers can proudly say to Jay that they've finally fixed those game-breaking bugs that just can't be there and that he can now make an annoucement, or maybe they will have to work hard the next 2 weeks and Jay will stay in uncertainty about when he gets the go from the developers.
So when they have those last pesky bugs set (cause let's face it, the rest of the game is done) they can announce it, but no one knows exactly how long it will take to do this, not even the ones working to fix them, themselves and certainly not Jay Wilson.

Agreed. Everyone knows that when you describe a release date's imminence as a "9/10," that it most likely means 1-8 months.
If they want to compete with other titles, they should act now. Guildwars 2 now has a pre-order date, and info on all the goodies for pre-orders/deluxe edition/CE
If they wanted to compete with other titles, they would have released this game 2 years ago. A game coming out 4 YEARS after it's officially announced is unheard of. Especially from a major developer.

Wut?
You're posting on a forum about D3, The 'Soon'™ Game, what are you talking about?! ^^;;
Im pretty sure Jay has a decent idea of when the game will be ready to ship, if he didnt he wouldnt be very good at his job.
I think the way this drama has unfolded over the last 6 months is a pretty good sign that he's possibly not very good at his job...
"It's ready when it's ready, ok, we'll cut pvp for launch, but we are still tweaking/fine-tuning, it's close, 9/10, not even soon, its VERY CLOSE, despite the fact that we've been 'Polishing' (also known as revamping MAJOR game systems, also known as DEVELOPING the game, definitely NOT polishing) this game for 6-8 months."
