but god knows when i get a reply there. So maybe someone have an insight.
I specifically have set a default 217 strength, yet it still multiplies by 3.17
With more multipliers it's still looks wrong.
For example multiples by an extra 100 strength here as well.
And Akarath's Champion multiplies by 7 and not by 6.
Hmm i can't understand where this "base damage" comes from then (since there' no base 100 strength) and why akaraths is multiplied by 7 and not by 6, since it's just a multiplier of "all" damage like the bane of the stricken and trapped.
Or maybe it's additive with previous "damage" like Iron Skin for example? There should be brackets then.
AC reads as "you deal 600% increased damage".
a 100% increase is 2.0. Can't get why 600% increase is x7. I guess i am dumb lol
I would rather say, your formula is overly complicated
The strength multiplier is simply (1+Str/100), so instead of [Thorns]+ ([Thorns] * Str/100) I would rather write (as is d3planner doing) [Thorns]*(1+Str/100). Otherwise you will end up in a mess with several multipliers involved.
Yeah haha i guess so. But they don't write 1+something. They write [thorns] and then start multiplying it by everything, with ALREADY ADDED "1". This is somewhat misleading from my point of view.
Like the post above said, they also have skill multipliers there (which are not additive to thorns, and are just a flat multiplier).
They removed brackets and all, to make a formula more "simple".
Thanx, the issue is sorted out. It's just d3planner does the math in a weird way.
And no, it does not "multiply" thorns damage.
Multiplying 100 thorns by 200% would be = 100*2 = 200 THORNS. This is what skill does.
INCREASING by 200% would be adding ((100*200)/100)+100 = 300 THORNS.
This is where Akarath's Champion is misleading to me. It says you "deal 600% increased damage". Not "All your damage is increased by 600%". I am not even entirely sure it is 600% multiplier or 700%.
It's trivial to have Planner compute something simple, like 10 damage @200% and see what happens. The math isn't being done 'weird', it's been done the same way for centuries. The way percentages are spoken of is exactly the same as in financial circles (how much more money will I have? 4.5%)
Your complaint appears to be with the game devs and their phrasing, as most of Planner is repeating the game description. For fun, check out the popup for Area Damage.

Hey everyone!
I've been messing a lot with d3planner recently and looks like some multipliers are off.
I already wrote about an issue here: https://github.com/d07RiV/d3planner/issues
but god knows when i get a reply there. So maybe someone have an insight.

a 217% (x2.17) "increase" in damage, means 217% will be "added" to your existing damage, which is 100%. (x1.0)
a 100% increase in damage will double your damage right? Doubled means 200% or 2.0 multiplier.

as far as i could understand it should be like this for thorns:
first is basic thorns: 3500, then this thorns is multiplied by main stat: 3500x2,17 = 7595
Then they are summarized and multiplied by skills and multipliers (3500+7595)*5=55475 damage.

What has been said before^^
100% is always what you have, anything else is an increase or decrease of X.
Still, what's the reason "Skill multiplier: 500%" counts as 5? Should it not be 6?
Thanx guys. Looks like the formula is simplified in d3planner.Also some older posts are misleading like this fourth post:
http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/17289310413
it says if you have 1000 thorns and 10.000 strength you will deal 100.000 thorns damage, but it's wrong. You will deal 1000+(1000*100)=101.000 thorns.
All thorns damage is additive to "basic thorns" (which is thorns rolls and passive/stacks of thorns).
If you have 0 thorns you will deal 0+(0*2,17) = 0 thorns damage
if you have 1 thorns you will deal 1+(1*2,17) = 3,17 thorns
If you have 3 thorns you will deal 3+(3*2,17)= 9,51 thorns
this formula is visually misleading. At least for me:
