Yeah, not sure where the fun is in running around an empty world.
Basically they have tricked the client into thinking it's logged in, and keeping a connection alive to the client doesn't terminate. It's a start I suppose. They would have to build the whole server side I think, in order to get mobs, loot, etc. Sounds like a lot of work when I could just pay $50 for the game.
If they're doing it just to see if they can, fair enough. Risky though.
meh, all it needs to do its fake a packet telling it that its connected and not to d/c the user... like we said, sandbox really dosnt mean anything when it comes to "emulating" the game.
I should make it clear so im not sounding mean, if I dont get into the beta, yeah ill be mesing with this sandbox.. but im just trying to get the point across that this has nothing to do with server emulation, and I dont think anyone will be surprised/care after beta.
LOL. Anyone remember that moderator who kept locking threads like this? He said, "This is Blizzard.. They don't get hacked" lol I wonder where that mod is now, he won't show his face. He even said it would take years to be compromised, and huge steps have been taken in mere days. Good stuff!!

-___- its a sandbox... not an emulation, not a hack, dear god. This means 100% nothing towards being able to "hack" or make an emulated server, this is not a step towards anything other than being able to see the pretty ground.
I'm not sure which mod it was, not denying it could have been me though.
Anyways Sandboxes don't contain anything other than the map. It's just an empty map. They'd have to either hack the blizzard servers to get the mobs/npc scripts (lol, that's likely right?) or they'd have to script them from scratch (lol, that's likely right?).
Which is why the guy said hacks/bots are more likely to be seen. Nothing to gain from stealing a sandbox with no monsters or NPCs.
I like being able to mess around on the character screen.
You wouldnt even be able to make a character tho =P I wonder if they even have the character select sandboxed.as thats whole nother set of packets they would have to learn... would be neat to see.
Blizzard, it's official - you pwn3d.
They are not even close to "owned"
We all knew a sandbox could happen.. but noone cares (careing referring to ones saying it will take about a year to get server emulation)

Damn, guess I can't pre-order until get some assurances that my net will play it just fine.
