Really it wouldn't surprise me at all of the f&f testing phase were quite short. Really remember the beta isn't really for balance/gameplay this time it's just to test for bugs and server stability. So they let a few people in right away to get some quick server stability testing then within a few days or a week let the next group in.
Not 100% that that'll be how it falls, but it's definitely a possibility that the first phase of beta testing could begin within a fairly short period of time.
downloading new patch here, but I got a different screen
I get the same one, I think its cause I'm not in the beta I get the cow dancing O_Os

I could have sworn that I saw blue posts in the official beta feedback and bug report forums this morning dated Aug 28, specifically on rules for posting, conduct, anti-harassment, etc (along with copies of the same threads dated today, or within the last 24 hours). Went to the same forums again this evening, and only the newer threads remain. Could they have been receiving feedback for more than a week? Or maybe just had the forums set up for internal testers?

I don't hate my parents, I don't get drunk just to spite them.
I have my own reasons to drink, I think I'll call my Dad up and invite him.

I think it's a huge possibility; Sixen said he knew about all that leaked datamined beta stuff over a week ago, even tho it got out what, 2 days ago? I'm pretty sure the FnF with press and media started over a week back, but they were under NDA. Just seems fishy we have seen posts dated that far back =D

They knew about the leaks and information because they've had access to the client for a while. Think of an account needing two different flags. The 1st flag is the ability to download the client (press has likely had this for a while), the 2nd flag is the ability to log into the server. Either that, or they simply knew about the public link to the client beforehand. Regardless, they've had the client, just not the ability to access servers.
As far as when the beta starts, I think the simplest way to think about it is that there is no set F&F, media, and public betas. It's all one beta, and they are rolling out invites over time. The biggest difference between these 3 groups is simple priority. They won't start inviting people who opted in until all the F&F people have been invited. The media is likely mixed in the middle of that. We are all in a line for the roller coaster. F&F folks simply have the deluxe passes that let them all cut.
yeah, i could see maybe early next week for first wave of invites going out. more a shot in the dark, but feels right. all i know is, my email client is loaded up 24/7 with auto check mail on. i know they say "its a random pick after getting a spread of various computer hardware setups" and all that, but i like to hope my previous beta experience with blizzard will help my chances a little bit, even if only to make myself feel better about my chances
the ui for skills has been improved?
thank god it looked like it was made in photo shop in somones lunch break
No, the new one looks bad. The old one was fine and you had the skill labels right there. Now you have to mouse hover over each skill to know what it is. This is not an improvement in my opinion.

Haha yea, I don't know weather to be worried about my chances of beta due to my different patcher or not lol.

I'd say it's a 50/50 shot of it either coming out late next week or the week after.
