As per the leaked beta footage, there is a log out timer, so you can't log out instantaneously. I assume this is so you can't just leave bad situation where you're going to die, and perhaps other scenarios as well. But 17+ seconds just to log out? Really? Waste of time.

If you had to ask me, I would say the major reason they did it was for Hardcore...People would use Chicken plug-ins that would start exit the game in under a second to keep you alive if it detected you were low on HP. So while it doesn't affect the masses, it is a much needed feature for that community.

Precisely. So, 17 seconds? I could see 2-5 seconds, but no more.

As a hardcore player, i'm ok with this.

I think it's going to be 20 seconds outside the town. Instantly in town, very much like WoW. It works quite well there too.
