Looking at official patch notes, looks like they changed it from the PTR version - no boost for gargs no more! That will change more than a few Season 7 plans!
I love wd so I'm sorry to hear about this. However...
The ptr version of the ring really amounted to "all wd dps is multiplied by 4" since it can be incorporated into virtually any wd build. Come on... thats... a bit op maybe? Though it's true that a lot of wd builds needed balancing in the upwards direction.
As it stands ..... the big shame is that there are pet builds for WD other than garg that stood to be buffed. This ring might have given fetish or dog builds a shot at being top. Heck, even mimic builds might have been interesting with this ring. I get why bliz did it but as it stands its sort of a half-fix.
It was too strong. Perhaps a happy medium was possible, but Blizzard isn't subtle.
Problem is, that leaves a void. Now there are no amazing standout DPS builds, so we may be back to a 3 support meta even with the nerfs. Time will tell.
I'm not a fan of this change because it still leaves us stuck with the problem that gargs are just so much stronger than any other spells - unless there is some sort of ROE build that can now compete with HT garg? Jade maybe but HT steals the best bits of Arachyr and Zuni and does them better which is sad :/
Yup. Kind of odd. The ring didn't just benefit Garg but that was the sole reason it died a painful death. Not being a super understanding player but seeing as how this item was initially meant for pets why not preclude Gargs from receiving the bonus. Are fetishes and dogs so utterly feckless that the boost is meaningless to them? I unfortunately didn't get enough time to find an RoE in NS is why I ask.
What they need to do is lower garg (esp cold rune unless it doesn't work the way it reads) so that they can boost the sets in general (if they're not going to bother actually fixing them)
Honestly this change won't make much difference to anything except super high GRs anyway, but everyone jumping on the wd bandwagon will probably get right off it after this.

It will matter when Helltooths raw output on 15 targets dropped from 120tril dps to 50+ tril depending on number of elites because you are back to furnace.
Pure single target rift guardian it went from 19 tril on a very high tier boss to 14 tril.
Meanwhile gen monk is doing 80tril in 15 target aoe(uneffected by amount of elites just targets are more area dmg) and 23.3 tril on boss.

Right but if you're counting on Trillions of DPS then you're doing high GRs... which is where I said the change matters. I'm not saying I don't think WD needs help all around, just that this change doesn't kill the class for all players.

not sure if troll or not troll, the ring and the description is the same in live and in PTR, not sure what are you saying...
I played before the DDOS attack, it was the same as the PTR dmg on my WD so ????????????
That is the same description as the PTR patch notes.
In game description is 300% damage to enemies affected by both haunt and locusts.
and on the patch note it's written exactly the same way as the PTR 2.4.2 patch note !
