A friendly reminder from DiabloFans: the release date of Patch 2.4.2 is still unknown! Only the start date of Season 7 has been disclosed by Blizzard.
There is a very slim chance that the patch is released tomorrow, which is unlikely given the lack of a maintenance message.
Just a question as i can't really remember, but i have the impression that in the past a patch applied without maintenance (?).
I am not sure maybe 2.4?
Just a question and by no means i mean that the patch will apply tommorow or anythinga like that.
That is true actually. However, the main reason why the patch isn't hitting this week is because PTR is still up. They usually take the PTR down before bringing a patch to live, IIRC.
IIRC 2.4.1 was deployed just before S6 started. If they keep it that way we can expect 2.4.2 next week and not tomorrow.
Yeap thats another issue aswell.
The fact that they suddenly decide to release the patches before the end of the current era (together with the fact that they also decide to not close era leaderboards the same time season ends, as used to be) is beyong me...
Thanx for the replies guys.
I don't like that either but the reason why they don't close era leaderboards *before* the patch is because they assume with patch 2.4.2 (and they also assumed with patch 2.4.1 before because they didn't foresee the Twister 2.0) that the records are going down - significantly. In that case, the Era 7 leaderboards would have records that are unbeaten until the end of Era 7, making 2.4.2 non-season gameplay pointless.
I don't like their decision but I can understand it; it's sacrificing the current Era for the sake of the next one.
No, an era should end when the season ends. Otherwise all the non-season players (who stayed away from seasons for a reason) are being screwed over by season players grabbing all the non-season leaderboard spots as well (which is what is happening right now).
It's no rocket science, correct, but usually patch=new era is a slap in the face for non-season players. However, the reasons for this decisions have been outlined (I just wish it would've been done more clearly).
Yes i have already accepted too. But to be honest although i read Bagstone's post about the "why" i still don't seem to understand that decision ( and to be clear here i respect Bagstone's opinion and voice).
All these years the devs have come to some decisions that i don't like (as all from time to time) but at the end of the day are not so "punishing" for a particullar gameplay. I play only NS for my personal reasons as someone plays season for others reasons, i respect that.
I don't understand what could possibly make a particular gameplay to be less respected from another one. In both gameplays actual ppl participate and everyone should have the chance to enjoy their choice without feeling that they get punished for that.
Anyway i don't like to talk for things that cant be changed and tbh i didn't create the topic for that reason, neither want to start any flames here for god sake, but after day one i play the game these specific 2 things are these that have annoyed me the most and although i try to see the reasons i clearly cant find a simple one to justify these actions.

Thanx Bagstone for the confirmation.
As i said it has nothing to do with patch realease date as to confirm that it actually happened that way before:)
Thanx again.

Any time a patch launches an era should end, or at the least slightly after. Before would be an epic fail.
Not rocket science here.

Non-seasonal is like cesspit. Blizzard does not care what happens in NS anymore. It's a dumpster. As an NS player i got used to it already.
