We all receive information on the mechanics of Diablo 3 in, lets say, theory form. We get the 'on paper' concept and read the text and numbers....but maybe grow confused because of our perception. Do you guys think maybe some of us (myself included!) may not get the whole picture because of this aspect? I mean c'mon, Jay and the guys all seem pretty confident that the systems they've put in place are awesome and benefit D3 - because they've seen it in action and played it. Just sayin, they do seem pretty happy with the system and they've SEEN the skill and rune system and we've just READ about it. Anyway, that's just me 'thinking out loud'. I don't know.
Considering a recent video had zombie wall, which is a defensive skill, turned into an offensive one. (presumably from a particular rune) I don't know, maybe the effects from runes really will transform the skills enough to push our characters towards a role, specialization, or build. 'Mico-fine-tuning' EACH attribute point in D1 and D2 is what we're all used to and it IS fun! I just think the skill system/rune system will actually be a fresh, new way of customization in the Action-RPG genre. What do I know though? I've just been gaming for 15 years.

consider this- In D2, you'd mainly use 2 skills. Okay...maybe 3. I'm not trying to play devil's advocate here, but would you have purchased Dragon Age Origins if you read the review and it said "there's only 2 skills in this game", or would you have purchased Diablo 2 in the FIRST place if you knew it only had 2 skills? No, you just realized after playing that the design demanded you maximize a couple skills. That IS a poor system. (sorry, went off course there)

I agree completely and i'm confident blizzard will deliver with quality as usual. The forum floods largely sparked by uninformed posting tantrums are par for the course. I've watched several titles develope from pre-release over the years and the only constant seems to be this:
There is a segment of the community who -never- sees eye-to-eye with the company/devs. They will argue until they are blue in the face the game is "dead," because it has lost their support (it never had their support) and will spend the majority of their time ragging on whomever is most convinient until someone bans them or they get tired and move on.
I'm always a bit sour after hearing major system changes, but the development team always has a good reason to do so, and they defend it with testimony. I support the new skill scaling system, as well as the "gray rune" system that is looking to make it's way into the game.
I have my doubts, but I am a calm and reasonable person, and will reserve my judgements until I play the game. Of course, my personal opinion holds no inherent weight amongst hundreds of thousands, so I will not post and let the angry minority vocalize their discontent with no counterbalance of posts that say "Good Job game maker guys!".
I am incredibly glad Blizzard understands me.

I'm confident that blizzard will deliver an awesome game. Besides we have to remember that they have played the game, and they wouldn't say the new system was looked at from various angles and worked well. If it didn't.
The people that jumps into conclusion and posts non-constructive arguements are players that doesn't follow d3 like we do. Check other sites like D3 facebook page and you'll see so many ignorant players out there. Heck even games site.

I love all loot fest kind of game! I will be playing all of them for the next few years. Loot fest games I'm looking forward to: LotR: War in the North,Torchlight 2,Borderlands 2 and of course Diablo 3.
Yes agree and a good way to look at it I think people get hooked into the actual change part rather than the outcome is. I have total faith in Blizzard MAN I love the games they make.
I'm with you guys, I for one trust Blizzard's decisions in game making. All of their previous games have been insanely fun, and I have no doubts D3 will be another great game.
More specifically related to the skills system... My main desire is to have many practical builds. In Diablo 2, each class only really had 2(at best 3) practical builds, meaning builds that gave the class the most killing power. And so everyone ran around with the same build for a specific class. I'm hoping with their new system in Diablo 3 and all their millions/billions of combinations that there are a vast number of practical builds, even if i still end up only using 2-3 of my 6 skills, I just want it to be my 2-3 skills and not the same 2-3 that every other player of my class is using...

Unless you've played it, your opinion/theory/whatever holds zero weight.
The beta will be quite revealing
As well as the RMAH.
