So I have always heard tales of folks playing Diablo with such fervor that they break their mouse. Now I have never dealt with this issue but I'm not a super aggressive clicker. That said, what type of mouse do my fellow DiabloFans use currently for D2/fast paced clicker games and plan to use for Diablo 3?
Right now I am using a standard Death Adder from Razer.
I'm going to be using what I have found to be the best RPG mouse out there, the Razer Naga http://www.getimba.com/ You probably won't need all 17 buttons for D3 but I used all of them and more for WoW and I know that I will never be lacking during a long and drawn out gaming session. Plus it has a very high quality laser and spectacular construction.
I always buy a razer Diamondback when the one before it gives out. I know it is one of their oldest models and harder to find at a decent price, but the comfort and simplicity of the design are unmatched in my opinion.

Then what's the point of the keyboard? I'd find using my keyboard hand to hotkey skills simpler than using my thumb on my mouse hand.
But it does take "playing with just your mouse" to a whole new level

I was a tank in WoW, and having all of my skills bound to my right hand that let me use my left hand for movement and nothing else. This came in extremely handy when it came to positioning mobs and bosses, as well as quick and precise movement in the arena. I don't know how it will work for me in D3, but I am confident that it will be one of the best mice for the job.
Looks darn nice. Its features reminds me of my Logitech G5(blue) I owned for a few years. I miss the weight options and rubber sides. The Death Adder has a rubber top but smooth plastic sides which gets grimy fast.
Razer Nage Epic. Is it necessary? No. Is it awesome because it has a lot of buttons and changes color? Yes.
I have one, Please tell me i'm not the only one. It is simply epic... Wireless and color changes WHO DOESN'T WANT IT, now they just need to release it with the 4g dual sensor with 6000dpi so its just more overkill

I hold my mouse claw style and never had the luxury of being able to reach thumb buttons on a mouse until I found the Logitech G9. Now I can't ever go back. I find two thumb buttons is plenty for me in combination with Alt/Shift/Ctrl.
Your keyboard should be more than enough for hotkeys, I find that past the two side buttons that are featured on most premium mice (very good for activating voice chat in Ventrilo or Teamspeak, since it must be held down), you don't really need the extra buttons on a mouse. For this reason I think the Razer Deathadder is a great all-purpose mouse (great for FPS's because of the precision, and just fine for other genres). The comfort of it is also great and I love it more than my Logitech G5 and NZXT Storm Sentinel Advance.

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
MS mice are very durable. MS is probably the best choice if you're looking specifically for something that will last long. My mouse lasted about 6-7 years and I played Diablo quite a lot. Same for my whole family. We used MS mice for a very long time.
I got the Mionix 3200 for the high DPI and ergonomics, though. I have no idea how durable these are, though. Steelseries should be fine as well.
I do know that Razer is a good example of what's NOT durable. Constant complaints about broken/set in buttons...
I was pretty unimpressed with the quality of the Cataclysm Steelseries mouse, I'm glad I had gotten it for free at the Best Buy midnight release for being one of the first fifteen in line (Heh, I'm a nerd I know). Otherwise, had I purchased it, I'd have returned it the following day. It's entirely possible they've made some changes to the design and quality of the mouse for the Diablo III series that will make it superior to the Cataclysm one. It could have just been me too, I just found that the mouse was uncomfortable to hold and the buttons felt... I don't know... cheap? It honestly felt like I was holding something like a toy and not a $100 mouse.
That being said I've been using my blue Logitech G5 since they first came out. I've tried several new ones but have always ended up going back to my G5. I think one of the main reasons I like it is because the middle mouse button has a left and right click on it and all the new mice I've tried have not had that feature. I bound several important abilities to those buttons in WoW, so it's difficult for me to get used to a new one I suppose. I suppose now would be a good time to try and get used to a new one as I don't play WoW anymore. Does anyone know of a mouse that has this feature? I'd still like to use a mouse that has it because I use it to navigate forward and back online and whatnot.
But yeah, if anyone knows of a good, high quality mouse that has the 7 button configuration like a G5, particularly with the left/right click on the mouse wheel that would be fantastic, price really isn't an issue either if that helps. Oh and if it would have a super fast response time on it too, I keep my G5 at the top sensitivity, have to be able to turn as fast as I can =) (actually I'm just used to it at this point =D )
I vomited in my mouth a little there. You're not serious?
If you have big hands, this is the best choice. It's clean and holds long.
Actually I played a lot of counterstrike with that mouse and even won some lanevents in germany. so im really looking forward beating you pvp with my explorer 3.0
Hehe, I was kidding. It's actually the same mouse I used to use before I discovered the Kinzu

To your last statement, it has been completely false for me. Razer has been outstanding in their quality, my megaldons are perfect w/out flaws my black widow ultimate works just as well and my naga and death adder have lasted me, plus the only reason my death-adder broke was because i purposefully broke it to try and see the inside of it, but it didn't work out so well. The only thing thats worn is my Destructor at the bottom corner the plastic top is coming off a little.

Hotkeys will be 1-7 I believe?
Monk > Wizard > Barbarian > Demon Hunter > Witch Doctor

I'd like to, one day, upgrade to one of those fancy mouses with a dozen buttons on it, but for now my Targus mouse is more then enough.
This may be on my to buy list. Ty for the tip

Me too! I love it too except it gets kinda greasy on the sides during heated sessions.
