Those all the things I am willing to consider before making any spectacular deduction. You should try it.
Spectacular deduction? I think it's a pretty logical one. Besides, what else is there to talk about right now? hmmm?
Remember that?

Let's wait for the 1st of August, shall we? Having nothing to talk is not always a bad thing. Try to sit tight.
These threads are extremely redundant anyway. Just use the search function and see for yourself.
Blizzard is not attending this or that, so...this and this will happen or won't.
But hey, you can have your fun with it. There's at least one thread each week that is created that has been discussed a couple of months ago at best. At worst, it's only a couple of weeks. Anything to keep people talking I guess.
First you accuse my thread of being not worthy even though it clearly includes new information, then you straight up attack me for being affiliated with Curse, the organization in charge of both this site and the Wiki. I don't even know what to say. Sorry?

Wait...Curse is in charge of this site and the wiki!?!
Oh my God. This is terrible.
Someone do something!!!! Dammit!
No Cherub, Curse is fine. My problem *was* with you. But now that you have so sincerely apologized and repented for your awful deeds, I can do nothing but gracefully accept it.
My blessings go with you my child. May you find the light in the long wait that is frowning upon our destiny before salvation in the form of D3 purifies our souls. Amen.
Did I tell you I was building a boat in my part-time? Awesome, isn't it?
Blizzard will be showing D3 at the July 27th media event, but will not be showing D3 at the August 17th Gamescon. Therefore, the Beta will come out sometime between Aug 1 and Aug 17.
Well, the main reason this doesn't work is because of the importance of an assumption for which we have insufficient evidence. We have to assume that the reason Blizzard will not be showing D3 at gamescon is because the Beta will have already started. That's a pretty big leap.
The support for this argument is that Blizzard expo'd D3 at the 2008, 2009 and 2010 gamescon events. Why not 2011?
But there are too many problems with this idea. First, it's very possible they're limiting media coverage to the home-turf July 27th event, in order to more tightly control media impressions. It's also possible they're skipping gamescon to increase the importance of Blizcon. There are many others.
Even if the Beta start is the reason D3 won't be at this year's gamescon, that still does not give us any confidence that the Beta will start before Aug 17th.
Ok, that's my logic exercise for the day.

cherub you should know he is only kidding with you <.<
I sincerely can't tell, but no worries. I forgive him for his BLASPHEMY! Besides if me sporting the Curse tag makes me seem like a pompous ass, I'll just remove it, no prob.
ANYWAYS, getting back on topic please, does anybody else think what I said legit? I mean does this sound like a valid, sound and consistent argument?
Check out my post above yours. Also, could you clarify what you meant by "Beta announcement" in "Does this mean Blue is scheduling beta announcement before August 17?" I'm assuming it means "Beta start".

Obviously there's not direct proof for a beta release date, but that's always true. That leaves us with speculation.
Your first argument about media coverage I don't buy because D3 has been making impressions for 3 years now. And your second argument about skipping Gamescon to increase the importance of Blizzcon would mean they should have never gone to Gamescon the last 3 years.

Yes, and now that we are approaching release, it's time to start tightly controlling those impressions by avoiding marketing events that Blizzard does not control.

The functional word is "increase." By continuing to release D3 info from many sources, demand for exclusive Blizzard access via Blizzcon will remain roughly the same, all things being equal. But by further restricting media coverage, it will increase demand for information. That will, in turn, increase demand for Blizcon because it's a very scarce (and hence more valuable) source of information.

Does this mean Blue is scheduling beta announcement before August 17? I wonder.
Is there some reason that they would not be announcing the beta when they reveal it at the press event?
One reason is to keep people obsessed with checking for news about the beta drop. That may sound a bit insidious, but mystery often builds positive energy in marketing. Such an approach may keep people hungry and active in the D3 community. People incessantly talking D3, speculating, and hand waving could help the viral propagation of media buzz.
If they don't plan to start beta until september 12th, but announce beta start on august 1st, excitement levels will likely explode on Aug 1st, but a week later people may be like "Shit. A month until beta starts. Guess I'll have to find something else to do."
That's one reason. I tried to keep my arguments very conditional, because there are no absolutes in marketing, and there are many reasons for them to announce beta start at the media event.
The possibility of a negative backlash to no beta announce date could definitely offset the benefit of mystique.

I'm with Dolaiim on this one Cherub.. We agree on a lot but deep in your soul you're a 2011er, and I'm a 2012er.. Just how it will have to be..
I'm going to keep this short for now, I just got off my beach job and I feel like I've been in the sun for 10 hours with a bottle of water and a granola bar.. Oh wait.. I was.. lol
I feel the two events have no effect on each other whatsoever. All details of the event, from past or present aside, Beta openings for PC games, Blizzard or otherwise don't seem to be effected to large events hosted by anyone else but the mother company. I feel the Beta will be completely random, it will start and stop as unpredictably as genital herpes.

and thats the best scenario.
worse case scenario is um too much info ;D
I remember you having a way different attitude around here before you made us aware that you are a curse employee.
Funny.
Oh ya, you now have my permission to wonder about D3.
Wait...Curse is in charge of this site and the wiki!?!

The technical reason I disagree is the fallacy "Begging the Question." The way I phrased the argument seems to be saying this:
Blizzard is not going to show D3 at gamescon. Therefore, Beta is starting Aug 1-17th.
But actually it would be saying this:
Beta is starting Aug 1-17th, therefore Blizzard is not going to show D3 at gamescon. Therefore, Beta is starting Aug 1-17th.
Circular. Good for rolling. Bad for reasoning.
Edit: To rebut your rebuttals (dream within a dream):
