Reasonably, there’s a limit to how much gold a player can carry on you and your stash but what happens when you hit your cap and gold just flops in your face when you pick it up? You’re going on a repair spree or gamble for rares. That’s about it.
How to fix it for D3?
Add a bank but if the world’s current technology cannot accomplish this let’s increase the cap limit.
It was entertaining to chuck this around to see some fireworks but this type of entertainment only lasts a couple of seconds. It does enough damage to tip over a paper cup so when it dropped, we ignored it.
How to fix it for D3?
Either don’t implement these types of potions or make these potions deal damage in percentages e.g. -10% HP over 5 seconds.
8. Running out of Town Portals or Scrolls of Identify
Running back to town was a pain and I’m starting to understand this because it takes you away from the heart of battle even for something minuscule as to refilling your Tome of Identify.
How to fix it for D3?
It is a tome isn’t it?! Having a limit of 100-200 Identifies or Portals would surely fix this annoyance. And Cain will be out a job.
Before you can advance to the next quest or act, you had to tediously collected ‘x’ number of items at random places and make it into something e.g. Khalim’s Will, Viper Amulet or Horadric Staff. It was a pain doing another persons job but it had to be done to advance.
The Great Marsh is not an appealing place and perhaps it’s the huge jungle with its gloomy ambience to it, the random places that lead to no where or maybe both. And if there was anything a person could do to avoid going through the Great Marsh, they’d do it.
If you happen to go site seeing around Lut Gholein and stubble upon its nearest palace…
“"Halt!!!" shouts Kaelan.
And this is even before you walk up the entrance, this guy is staring you down with his spear.
"You may not pass."
Yes, no matter how many times you ask him he’s going to block your way and say the same thing over and over because it’s his only purpose.
Did you know: When Kaelan was a baby, his first word was “Halt!!!” He was also holding that same spear.
How to fix it for D3?
Make Kaelan the plumber of the palace and when you try to use the restroom he’ll say, ‘”You may not flush.”
Your inventory is full when a unique, set item or rune drops and you feverously start to click on the item but it starts to flop in front of your face over and over. Before you can even open your inventory, the item is captured by another player.
These quick, little bastards will run in a group just to stab your knee caps and blow up in your face when they die. We’ve all died at least once from these persistent midgets. These Fetish will make a run but only on the Witch Doctor’s side! Hooray! But will we have to fight against them is anyone’s guess.
How to fix for D3?
It’s anyone’s guess if the Bone Fetish types will be on the enemies side but if it is then….
D2 had several small entrances and passage ways that can put you in a deadly position if you find yourself sandwiched between players that were twiddling their thumbs or admiring the tiled floors. Either you had teleport or quick ‘Save & Exit’ skills to get out of these sticky situations or you were toast.
For instance, the Arcane Sanctuary had passage ways that can only fit two of anything while the Maggot Liar was no different.
Making circles around Duriel in a 30 x 30 room is a boss fighting strategy that was painfully stupid and hopefully Blizz won’t bring it to D3.
How to fix for D3?
More open environments and entrances that can fit three or more players.
9. I don't totally dislike these. Obviously they become useless and just extra garbage floating around past normal put they do make for a novel way of playing in Normal. They were a nice little diversion from the more usual way of playing.
8. Well you couldn't expect to have an unlimited number of town portals could you? As others have mentioned though, these are gone so it doesn't really matter anyway.
7. I don't mind these "fetch" quests in other games but I agree with you here, there was something tedious about them in Diablo 2.
6. I liked the Great Marsh. It was essentially just a dungeon above ground that sometimes came between you and the Flayer Jungle. Sometimes it would loop around the Flayer Jungle so when you thought you'd cleared it you'd be right back in it. The satisfaction of finally making it out into Kurast was worth the price of admisson I think.
5. Haha, I disagree. But this is clearly a joke so I won't elaborate.
4. Tough luck I'd say. Not a big fan of the everyone gets their own drops system (I liked the rush of racing to get an item before anyone else) but it's there now so this point need not be worried about anymore.
3. What's wrong with having a dangerous enemy? I wish there had been more enemies as stressful as these guys.
2. I liked these. Just as in Diablo 2, when used in moderation, these shake gameplay up a bit for the better.
1. Agreed.
I totally agree with Calyx's number 6, Kashya was pure aggravation.
Nice man! cool thread
I don't have much to say since I agree with you on everything.. except the thing on quests like kalim's will, I actually like quests like that alot.. maybe not exactly how it was implemented in D2 but the concept is cool Imo and I hope it makes a return. I think you're right on everything else tho.

Embrace this moment. Remember... We are eternal, all this pain is an illusion.
As bad as these things my seem this is what made d2 the game we know and love. Blizzard knows what there doing. After playing SC2 i know for a fact blizzard knows what there doing. But yes i agree with most of the stuff mentioned on most of the list above.
Thanks for the inputs. I knew that some will agree and disagree but it's an opinion. And as far as with most or all of these 'annoyances' I believe Blizzard has already tackled these problem areas and they haven't revealed it yet. We just have to wait for Blizzcon, which I'm headin' to!

10- Reasons why Gold can't have value: its easier to max your gold on a character than to get any good items drop. There's no increased cap limit to be had, there should simply be no limit.
9- I like gimmicks side items like that, I wish there were more and that they were made more useful. So the problem is true.
8- Disagree, because I disagree with the very existence of both town portals and identify.
7- With quests come picking up various items around the world. I don't see that as a problem.
6- Oh, god. My friends and I always stopped our coop run there. We played and played, and then Act 3 happened and boom. It just sucked so much to go through the entire thing before the city that we never finished the entire game only and only because of this part of the game.
5- Thats a joke, right?
4- The competition between item drop was always stupid, anyway. Its already confirmed that each players get their own drops now.
3- God, I hate all the Fetish of any kind. I despise them with a passion and is part of why I hate Act 3 so much.
2- I kind of agree. Maybe it depends on how the game is actually designed to handle this and player collision.
I will try to reply to your points, and suggest a few of my own.
10- I see the logic in this, but I also like a hint of realism in my Diablo. A stash can only fit so many things, and making it fit an infinite amount of gold just ruins the slight touch of reality in the game, and I like it to have that. Some might disagree, but that's just me.
9- Yeah, those are absolutely useless. They don't bother me though, so I wouldn't really care.
8- Hmm, I don't know about you, but the process takes less than 5 seconds for me. I'd be buying some potions or whatever, and I'd just shift+left click it, and they're full again, not to mention the infinite amount of scrolls that monsters naturally drop. The Identification thing was actually a very solid idea, that was very poorly executed I think. I could live without TPing, too.
7- Oh man, I absolutely dreaded and hated those quests. They're just not fun AT ALL. It's just a serious bitch to do, and it wasn't even any fun at all.
6- I think we can all agree on that. It might be slightly fun the first, perhaps second time going through it, but then..it's just a major pain in the ass.
5- He made me laugh, I wouldn't mind having a similar character back, lulz.
4- Your explanation for this is illogical. It's your fault for not clearing some space in your inventory for potential good items. The tetris inventory was, and still is great and doesn't need changing. I really disagree with you on this one.
3- That son of a bitch. He killed me out of nowhere. I hate him. I would snap his neck off if I were to ever meet him.
2- Being a fan of the Bonemancer, I actually LIKE small spaces, lol.
1- I don't know about this, I only play SP.
I don't really know what I would change. I'm inclined to say completely useless and irrelevant prerequisites, immunes, Mana being such a fucking bitch, stuff like Enigma..etc
