Im quite sure of the fact that I am probably one of the only individuals that actually likes the fact that diablo 3 might come out on console (at least in this forum). And with the posting this thread I do not want to create an uncivilized argument that trails off into bad-mouthing the OP. (I no its hard but try to refrain for the sake of the thread.)
Ok so, my opinion on this topic is simple. Focus on the creation of diablo 3 on PC first and formost and then think of ways to incorporate a version of the game for consoles down the line but plz plz plz do not just drop the idea of the console version just because you are done with the PC.(preferably ps3 or xbox but beggers can't be choosers)
Besides the tiny presence of legal issues (comically underestimating their signifcants) and the controller interface, how are you going to login to the game on consoles and how exactly are you going to incorporate battle net. Those, in my mind, are the true d3 on console issues.
I think it would be kind of cool if I could use my same account for the PC on my Xbox but i have yet to see and console game have a login screen
Before ppl start rambling how the game wouldn't work for a controller input read this article
Best of luck Blizzard. As qualified as you are, I trust in your ability to make decisions.
I would love to hear OP on this thread as well but plz don't get out of hand

I'm sure that there would be plenty to work towards if Blizzard ever decides to try and implement a MMORPG for a console. I, for one, would love it. I look at it this way - if they made Diablo 1 for the Playstation, then anything is possible. They couldn't possibly do worse than Final Fantasy 11 for the Xbox....could they?

Heh, I don't think they could do that bad. It would be a good idea for them to expand to consoles if they like money. But then again it seems like console gamers tend to be pretty immature and that would bring a whole bunch of that to the community. No offense to console gamers, I am one myself but the amount of 8 year olds playing and cussing me out is ridiculous when I go on Xbox Live.

That would be because, apparently, there's no parenting involved with said children. And I typically mute them the first chance I get and report them if they really act like they need to be hung upside-down and slapped senseless.

1st point: Yea thats one Blizzard will have to figure out
2nd point: You could hover over the item and press some button to pick it up like Champions on ps2
And I also have to admit i love CpnMorgan's parenting solution. If have the kids of today were raised like that in the U.S. I dont think there would be a problem with respect in this country.

Thank you! When next I get the chance, I'll kindly mesh in my solution for government incompetence within a post and still have it seem like an honest attempt at a serious Diablo gaming discussion.

I can still see at least 2 major control differences.
1. You can face X direction with the joystick, but how do you target a location on the ground?
2. You don't pick up items by walking on them... (stupid article). So how do you pick them up in a good way?
I"ve answered similar questions in the New's subforum, but here it goes again.
1. You don't have to target a area, unless you're using a blizzard-like skill. In this case a wide circle (like in Warcraft 3) appear showing the area of the spell. You can move this area using the side joypad, while moving your character with the main joypad.
Ok, you would loose alot of time by moving the area everytime you want to cast a spell of this sort but some stuff can be done to minimize this damage. For exemple, the place were the area would initially appear when you cast the spell would be customisable (you can choose to a bind a blizzard centered on your character or some yards in front of him. You can skill change the area if you want to, by holding the skill buttom and using the side joypad. If you want to cats the spell quickly you can just mesh the skill buttom and then the spell falls in the precustomised place).
2. Some buttom (L2 in PS) would work just like Alt and show all items names and locations in the screen. The one thats more closer to your character are automatically targeted and if you want to change the target item you can just use R1 and L1 to select another one. By using another buttom (R2) your character picks that item and if the item is to far away he automatically moves to the item location and pick it.
I'm fairly certain it was mentioned some time ago that Diablo III would not be on consoles, but it was buried in the context of an interview not based on the idea of the game being on consoles (like art direction or music or something). I remember it distinctly because mockery initially posted this and just a short while later it was confirmed there wouldn't be a console port.
I'll keep looking, though. (Not that I'm against it.)

So, in my own conclusion, I am going to swear by my lucky stars that we will not be seeing Diablo III on consoles. The team is small and slow as it is, as has been noted by Blizzard. I'm willing to bet, however, that any other "installments" will likely see a console port. That is, anything that comes after III. I'm just not feeling it, and my feelings are usually right.
(Please note that in the last quote they never say "Diablo III", they say "Diablo". I think that's an important point.)
I think diablo 3 would be a great title to introduce pvp to the console because that is one important element that is missing in all of the action rpgs ps3 and 360. I dont think anyone could do it better than blizzard in those terms and now a days you need to make a great first impression when introducing your product to a gaming community full of high expectations.

Diablo 3 isn't coming to consoles. Sorry to burst bubbles. In the most recent quote they mention that it's something they could do in future games, and they also recently said they're going to start entirely new IPs after finishing Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, and WoW: Cataclysm.
In other words, the new IPs have the potential to be on consoles, but not Diablo 3.
