Diablo: @Midnightact We'll have five classes and no we're not creating the entire world in. We're visiting specific locations similar to Diablo II.
while we already knew that there was only going to be five classes, the info on the world is new.
This confirms that we will not be going everywhere in Sanctuary and that more than likely there will not be free travel from area to area like some of us have speculated. There is a chance you still walk from area to area with parts cut off by mountains or other obstacles, however.
So, what other areas are you hoping to get to visit and how do you think we will be traveling from area to area?

Well it was already confirmed that we won't be seeing the Skovos Islands, and I would assume that Xiansai won't be shown either.
It makes me think that there'll have to be more than 4 acts, the way DII was.
We already have the lowland forest, the desert, we'll definitely go to Arreat Crater and Hell. That would be 4 acts right there. So where will the supposed Jungle area fit in? And I'd still like to see us visit Heaven as well.
id honestly be down for 3-ish expansions but not 5. once you hit 5, its like common, where is d4? and also, as stated, where does it get repetive and stupid?
as for the exp's, id love to be able to get more acts, more stuff, more chars. Itd be like an mmo in that, by paying, you get more areas, more heros, more stuff but it is a set amount of fee's.
i hope that they do the d2 type of thing. Give the original, but leave room for expansion. The game is great enough as the original to play many itmes over and have fun without missing anything, but the expansions would build on the exitment. An evolving game would be really nice.
hmm i thought the same thing making baal the last boss on diablo 2 was a bad idea because diablo is supposed to be the big bad boss and like they do with WoW they make the biggest baddest bosses newer and last like Lich King...that's what they should do with Diablo 3 is save the biggest baddest bosses for last
Where else are you guys hoping to visit. I really hope dreadlands is where the game ends or at least is where we venture into hell and I would really like to see xiansai where the mages are hanging out.
And also, how do you think we will get from area to area. Through the instant caravans and boats like D2 or do you think we will get to walk to them but on a linear path so that we can't diverge into another area.

The twitter quote said exactly that the acts will NOT be continuous.
I hope not !!

Linear (main story) and few path for something special like side quest or something else. Blizzard talk about square level that can be swap with another... few very special part with a small pourcent to appear can be very cool

Well, walking makes no sense from a RP point of view (only in a gameplay sense). The distances are meant to be bit too long. I mean walking 60 kilometers in two hours or so is not all that plausible. Rogue encampment for example was meant to be quite near the monastery, and that was like far, far away.
And the earlier two games had painstaking eye for small details. That is quite a big one.
I don't care if the way to switch "act" is more short than logic. Playing a transition is better than a loading...
I didn't see anywhere in the quote that said we will NOT be walking from area to area. It only said the "world" would be similar to D2 discrediting the idea of an open world.

I agree too much openness makes the game confusing or distracting. Some guidance is good. I only hope that we get to still travel a bit by foot and enjoy the world that they have made for us. Instantly transporting to new areas takes a way some sense of adventure.

True. I don't want to play on the caravan ride. I just hope that I feel fulfilled enough in each area so that I don't mind "skipping" to the next area.

I can see many manner to understand "free"
FREE : If you talk about "an entire world" like WoW. where you go "North, east, west, south" ? LOL forget that... I don't know who say that and who think this bad idea can be possible lol
FREE : never be stopped by a loading, walk through the entire game (playing transition) ? I think it better !!! for many reason...

However, taking a caravan or a boat, and not having to play the boat/caravan trip makes sense, doesn't it?
I mean there's nothing all that adventurous on a 20 hour plane trip either, I mean if I could skip THAT with a 4 second loading screen for convenience..
On a second thought, I'd rather skip the security and the queues.
ehhhhh Who's the stupid who talk about waiting in the boat ??? I think scyberdragon has never thought about that... what we mean is always be in action (It's what blizzard want )
Seriously we really don't care if the "travel" are shorter than expected...
I like instant travel via caravan, ship, portal etc. it made me feel like I was truly exploring the world of Sanctuary. One of my favourite ways to travel was in some pirate games, where your ship sailed on a large map, while it counted the days/months you travelled. It was quick and it gave you the sense of adventure - it wouldn't work in Diablo though, but it's an interesting convention. I?m hoping to see jungle D3, and not just swamp. I?d also love to visit coastal trading towns and mingle with the local rascals.

In Diablo 2 there were inter-act transitions that were instant. Getting on Warriv's Caravan to scale the pass between The Monastery and Lut Gholein was done in a second.
Adding to story submersion - don't you think it would be cooler if that caravan was attacked along the way? (as it almost certainly was)
What if you had to defend it? Picture this: The caravan trudges along a narrow walkway, or through a huge cave ala 'the mines of moria' - and there's a badass boss like the balrog, you have to kill! I'm not talking about an open world, I'm talking about an after Cinematic boss fight after you click on the caravan/ship/BMW to move along. Maybe as you exit the 'mine/cave' it collapses and you find yourself: On the outskirts of the next town?
I think adding an inter-act game element will bring the story out a bit more and add to the immersion...

Anywho, from the sounds of it we might be visiting areas similar to those we saw in DII.
But I don't want to spoil the news post.

I never think that d3 have a entire world ?? who think that lol ?? it's not WoW !!!
the game will still linear but maybe in continous (no cut between different environment).
(I agree with emil, Diablo must be the final boss lol)
wow i really hope so. The more the merrier.
