I have never used Turbohud myself but I am an avid consumer of builds, guides etc created by people using it's damage meter..
Trialling new builds checking proc rates etc will be much harder without it. Even as a non user I hsve always felt it was a benign addition to the game.
Everyone see negative things like easier leaderboards climb, and no one see positives. I'm playing this game from premiere, spend thousands of hours, but I never cared about leaderboards, conquests and sh*t, so I think I'm casual player only. For me, THUD was just usefull, comfortable tool, it provided better interface, which lazy Blizzard should give us long time ago. Do you remember how long did we ask for little things like time indicator for skills?
Now (for me) playing this game is too annoying, because of dumb, time-wasting things like going to stash everytime when I want to check how much mats I have.
And people, who only blame KJ and can't see any positives, should go back to past, where Diablo interface was such poor and sad, that even legendaries didn't appear on minimap.
I don't use this, and I'm guessing 99% don't, but I don't play much and yeah I'd like to find stuff faster, but then I read all these posts about boredom and burnt out and repetition and I'm like naw, I'll pass.
This to myself, and again guessing 99% of the game base is what is called a non-issue.
Thud reveals items in the world that cannot be seen without revealing the fog of war, in Grifts particularly showing the exact location of pylons, and what that pylon is, giving a general map layout so you can avoid all the major detours which in turn gives you a speed advantage over those of us that don't use this "addon" which is and will always be, cheating, there is no other word for it, if you don't think this is cheating then you need to get back to school because your teachers obviously failed to teach you the correct definition of the word, and the context it is used in.
I think it would be interesting to have a long weekend tournament - inviting the top players to go to a controlled environment. 3 days long. Who can get the highest GR at the end of 3 days? There could not possibly be any cheating because it would be Blizzard sponsored - so they have control over the computers, etc. You'd have play by play commentary so any cheating would be impossible. Yeah it's a shame players resort to stuff like botting, THUD - I'd even toss in the numlock auto cast as cheating. I mean if you're telling the computer to auto cast something instead of having to remember to press keys yourself - that's kind of lame.
The issue is that some people consider cheating as a black and white situation but I would argue that some cheating is worse than others.
And I would argue that Blizzard also sees cheating this way along with hacks / bots / exploits. There is definitely some sort of severity index they use.
Now if this is the case, I'm quite certain that they also see the benefits of what thud is bringing to the community. In many ways this may in many eyes including Blizzard offset the cheat aspect of thud.
Keep in mind for someone to push, it's more important to have the right map, right density, right mobs, right rift guardian, and correct order of pylons.
Before the map hack even is an issue you need the above. Even then pylon locations and map layouts are almost always known except in 2 or 3 map types.
The only aspect of this game that is remotely competitive is the leaderboards, and the push for the leaderboards has blinded players here of what Diablo 3 is all about -- which is having fun!
There are so much arbitrary difficulties some players here want to incorporate into D3, and that's ridiculous. I am an old retired guy playing with other old retired guys, and some occasional youngsters once in a while. This game is SO easy, you can play it most times with one or two buttons -- it's not worth making into a sport. The skill ceiling, although present, is too low. And you guys want to make this game harder??? Play Guild Wars 2, or Starcraft 2, or CS:GO -- I've played those games, some are even actual e-sports, they have no problems on their HUD, not like D3, and the difficulties are not arbitrary, like what some of you guys want to happen in this game.
And even if someone wants it to be a sport -- who would even pay??? Remember, a sport requires professional athletes, sponsors, arenas where audiences pay to watch, ceremonies where awards are given for excellence and sportsmanship -- hell, if this was a sport, supermodels would want to bang the top players -- which they don't, which is why I don't understand the stupid epeen behavior of some of the "top" players in this game.
Hell, when I asked about overlays, button remapping, etc to Blizzard customer support, all they told me is to read the TOS, and to exercise personal judgment on what is allowed or not -- if this is a serious sport, Blizzard would give CLEAR RULES on what is allowed or not. BTW, that customer support ticket allowed most of what I asked, but Blizzard is kinda wishy-washy, in the sense that they REMOVED that ticket from my ticket archive, meaning I don't even have the Blizzard communication that allowed what I want to do in this game -- which gives me the impression that even in Blizzard's case, the line on what is above-board and what is not moves all the time.
So, yeah -- do what you feel is right, what you feel is cheating and not cheating, ask Blizzard technical support when possible, and just suffer the consequences for doing what you feel is right AND fun. For me, using THUD and disabling the maphack IS NOT CHEATING, and I stand by this (and I thought Blizzard did, too, until they removed the communication from their "Game Masters").
Nice moderators on this forum, LUL.
I guess we now know the official opinion from DiabloFans regarding cheating and breaking the ToS in D3.
According to DiabloFans, it's all good, and Diablo 3 would be a dead game without people using map hacks and whatever else.
Thanks for clarifying
This is the most outrageous (and wrong) accusation I've seen in a long time.
1) Moderators clarified here, here, and here (as I think very clearly) what "Diablofans's stance" on THUD and third party tools is. But if you wish, I'll do that one more time for you: Diablofans does not condone any form of cheating or breaking the ToS of D3. In fact, our very own forum rules state this explicitly.
2) It was stated here, here, and at great length here that a moderator's post does not necessarily reflect the general stance of Diablofans on a certain topic, and certainly not on a much-debated one as this one. However, at the same time, in those five pages everyone made very clear that the post in question did not refer to the moderator's opinion, but he reflected on the community reaction based on current events. And that is what we oftentimes do: as moderators we are mediators between communities. But not always is our perception representative.
This leaves me at two possible conclusions: Either you have strong reading comprehension issues, or you want to troll us. If it's the first, please go back and read again and let it rest, and if you still have issues with Diablofans and still don't understand where we're coming from, take it to a PM to any moderator(s) of your choice to get further clarification. If it's the second (and any further attempts of you to drag this discussion into a "Dfans condones cheating" troll post follow-up will be treated as such), you're violating forum rules, and violating forum rules is a punishable offense that can yield an infraction.
Statements like "in my opinion if nobody re-develops something like Thud or if Killerjohn doesn't come back, this will result in a dead game."
Is it mediating or moderating ?
He later elaborated that this was a feeling he got from talking to people directly after the THUD shutdown became public:
"It was just my personal opinion referencing to the things i heard yesterday evening from different sources."
At this point, the thread has just become a flame fest based on one misinterpreted line of one moderator that has been twisted and turned beyond recognition, and this over-/falsely interpreted argument is used as means to post accusations with the goal to hurt Diablofans' integrity. I will therefore lock this thread (on the grounds of being off-topic and borderline trolling/flaming in some cases), but not without elaborating on two important points:
1) Moderators moderate, but also post their opinion. We cannot "unflag" ourselves before we post; in fact, once you become moderator every post you've ever made, even years ago, looks like it's been posted as a moderator. However, when a moderator posts something, and especially if they say "in my opinion", this means it's their opinion, and not the stance of Diablofans.
2) Diablofans does not condone cheating in any way. We have a very clear policy with regard to defending Blizzard's ToS and fiercely act when people try to promote cheating, e.g., by posting links to potential cheat tools (as happened several times in this thread, but it was sanctioned before most of you noticed). We do however also believe in freedom of speech, and especially if an issue is openly debated on the official Blizzard's forums - and that is the case for THUD - this discussion is fine here as well. But do not mistake "freedom of speech" for endorsing a particular activity, as that would be a misinterpretation of what's happening.
If you have any issues with any particular moderators or the moderation on Diablofans in general, please contact us via PM (overview of moderation team). Thanks.

Honestly, moderators (not only in this thread) has defended and supported the usage of the cheat in question here for a long time.
That you find that to be an outragous accusation is just not very believable,
Statements like "in my opinion if nobody re-develops something like Thud or if Killerjohn doesn't come back, this will result in a dead game."
Is it mediating or moderating ?
Is it supporting the game or the cheat ?
And this is far from the only example, just read the older threads about cheaters / THUD.
