Does anyone else find the melee attack sounds to be wholly unsatisfying? There is this predominant squishy sound that reminds me of swashing saliva between my teeth or the sound of cartoon zits popping and oozing. I don't think it's suitable for D3 at all. I hope it's something they plan on improving as continue to refine the game.
I kinda agree Doesn't really make sense when a lot of the things you're fighting have hardened bone exteriors or skeletal figures. Not big in to melee, though, so I don't really know.
They will change it, first they need to finish the enemy designs then they choose the appropriate sounds for each and every one of them. At least, that's how I would do it.
Well, not in all circumstances I guess if you were stabbing a gelatinous cube or a walking kidney, yes. In my opinion.

Yeah, I liked the sounds, did the skeletons squish in the gameplay videos or did they just make a bone break sound?
I think the sound is a little different for the skeletons. There is definitely a clanging sound when the barb strikes the shields of the skeletons as well.
I agree with Psyxix in that they will fix the sounds more once they have more enemies.
They are still working on making the 5th class, creating and toning skills, completing acts 3-5, and then itemization.
I think it is a bit early for us to determine what the final sound will be like, since real itemization has not begun yet...
(I remember in a interview from the last blizzcon, that allot of the sound effects in the demo version of D3 is strait from D2.
I'm sure it will be fantastic though.
the sound guy said a lot of the sounds were just place holders for when they had more things developed and could iterate the new sounds some of the original sound FX are still going to be in the game.
I'm sure they'll keep the squishy for appropriate instances of gore, but they won't have the same sounds for every whack or slice, there will be completely different sounds. You probably won't hear the same sound for hitting a Gnarled whatever than an imp, that's for sure.
I kind of like the squishy noises, they sound... gruesome, but not too obscenely... cheesy...

Never noticed it until you mentioned it. Very good point. I definitely hope they change that but at least keep the sounds for the squishy victims of my ax.

I jsut hope they got a few different sounds for each weapon / enemy... so you wont get stuck with just 1 sound repeating all over again and get mad as fuck.
