So if the Barbarian of D3 is the same guy who beat the Prime Evils in D2, how can Blizzard or anyone explain that the D3 barb is lvl 1 and struggling to kill fallens?
.... Huh, this is actually a pretty good question, never thought of this.
Well, they did say that the characters lost their minds after going to hell and back, so I guess they could say that the barb basically lost his sanity, and with it, his skills and whatnot.

But still, there is some reason behind the leveling system.
Basically represents how a person can become more and more experienced at what they do, given time and practice.

The barbarian in Diablo 3 is maybe related to the Barbarian in Diablo 2, I highly doubt that the barbarian in Diablo 3 is the same exact one in Diablo 2.

It's nigh impossible to find a link, it was confirmed ages ago..
The female Barbarian is a different Barbarian.. Not the same as the male one :>
Well... Arreat was the home to many Barbarian clans... and if the female barbarian could be a different person... then the male could theoretically be as well, net? Otherwise, how do you explain playing with other friends who are the same class? Are they clones? Can there be only one?
Food for thought =P

Believe what I want? I just gave you two definitive articles claiming what we're talking about to be true. This isn't a "my opinion versus your opinion" matter. This is a "someone had a question about a certain lore aspect of the game, and someone else cleared up the matter using official facts."

"This is actually the same individual from Diablo 2. He's aged twenty years, and he's got a personality in this game.. Look at his gear; his armor has points on which he could impale himself. It's extra protection for the harsh environment, but it's also dangerous to him. The day to day life characters lead in this world is very hard. With the Barbarian, we had to updating a classic. The Barbarian was exciting for us to work on -- to take a classic char we all love to play and bring him back to life. What's this guy been doing for the past 20 years? This guy's 8 feet tall and 300 lbs of pure muscle. He saw things during the events of Diablo II that would have killed most people, but he's still around. In D3 we aged him, grayed his hair, gave him some scars. We think those elements help sell the story visually. Signs of age, how he wears his armor. All that helps us tell the story visually. "

Yes, actually it does matter when you cannot support your own arguments with valid proof, and need to rely on other people to fish around and prove your arguments for you.
It pisses me right off :(.

I think the devs were dumb to say that it's the SAME BARB. This doesn't really make any sense at all. Can't you maintain the same lore by just saying "it's the same group of barbs"?

I played Parasite Eve 1 and in Parasite Eve II was faced with having to relearn skills.
That's with most any game sequels...

autostats are rediclous
lack of pots is not welcome
if it aint broke dont fix it! (diablo2)
They'll have to explain it - if they don't it'd be... awkward to say the least!
I laugh they tell us to keep our save games with the next pach LoL
The devs confirmed that yes, the barbarian is the same one as from D2.
Hence the age.
I'll leave it up to him to provide a link, though :D.
