I have spent years loving this series. Diablo has taken up a lot of my time over the years and I have enjoyed many a night battling in Sanctuary. The game as it currently stands has however gotten very stale for me. 2.4.0-2.4.1 brought little change. cosmetics are nice and all but not really a substitute for content. Once you hit end game all there is to do is push gr's and grind paragon. Item Upgrades come few and far between so basically all you are doing is lvling gems for augmenting and I personally am bored to death with D3 something I didn't think I would ever say. This game for me is currently on life support and without an expansion/new content/ new game whatever will soon be dead. The feeling of getting a "uber" drop just isn't there anymore and to me thats what Diablo was all about, now I can usually gear a char in a day or two with little effort. The "Birthday" announcement made me realize just how boring this game has become.
I personally am bored to death with D3 [...] This game for me is currently on life support
That's okay, but just because you're bored doesn't mean anyone should pull the plug. That's a pretty selfish thing to say. I guess you're just looking for a different game, one with constant new content (maybe you want to look into a subscription-based game like an MMO). It just sounds a game like Diablo is not what you're looking for, because what you *criticize* is exactly what this game is about. It's like complaining that Quake is too violent or Settlers has too much economics.
without an expansion/new content/ new game whatever will soon be dead.
I am getting a bit annoyed with everyone talking about expansion, expansion, expansion, expansion. Diablo 2 got a new ladder reset today. No new content for years. Still many people playing it. No one would be so selfish as to demand Blizzard to pull the plug on D2. And just as a reminder, it's been almost FIFTEEN YEARS since the last expansion for that game has been released. No new content in 15 years, yet the game is going strong. Am I still playing it? No. But I wouldn't go to a D2 fan forum and tell all the people who still love and play it that the game is boring and we should pull the plug.
Yea I feel ya. Even with the season resets I find myself just following the same routine of power lvling to 80 then I know all thats left is g-rift climbing. I would like to see another expansion but I feel it's more likley the case that blizz has shifted most development to d4 or something along those lines. But I don't think im gonna keep playing too much d3 anymore. Feels tedious, like I am just treading the same waters over and over with seasons. There are those who can still enjoy it by seeing their name on that leaderboard, but not for me.
Wow Bagstone aggro much? I'm selfish for stating my opinion and the opinion of many others? telling me this game isn't for me when I have been playing Diablo since the beginning and I mean D1. yah grinding has always been part of the game but grinding with some sort of reward in mind whats the reward? going up a greater rift lvl or 2? give me a break.
The game is not on life support. Diablo 3 will be around for many many many years with people still playing it. Saying that. I strongly feel Diablo 3 is losing many players with each new season. Season 1, had 60 out of 79 people on my F list playing every day. season 2 about the same. season 3 little less people. BUT season 6 turnout on my F list was and could believe it. only 4 people. 4 friggin people taking part in this new season out of now 89 people on my Flist. And them 4 people are geared to the max and bored as hell. Season 6 started Friday, April 29. It has not even been 1 month. To be fully geared in days and the only thing to do is grind out rifts just to get keys to do the same rifts over again. I don't know man. Boring doesn't even begin to explain the feeling. Anyway. Only brand new players will keep this game going for many years. As for long time players since the beginning. It's almost time to hang this game up and move on.
You are the type of person that was Born as an only child. You we given candy since RoS launch and now that it is slowing down on content creation you think this game is dead. Hate to break it to you but every season doesn't need new content. RoS is a whole is technically complete. Most classes got balanced.
If blizzard continues to release new content well then there is zero point of a final expansion. The slow down is a good sign for a 2017 expansion. Moldran had a video on YouTube stating that D3 would have at least 2 expansions before D4 would ever be conceived. People want D4, which is stupid. WoW engine is more dated than D3. Plus you pull in more sales from DLC / expansions than a brand new game.

Lmao Nope not an only child. And assuming I want something for nothing is just that an assumption. i have logged thousands of hours on this game. Saying this game is fine as it is is a ridiculous statement. blue posts will prove that when they are full of people having connection issues on a daily basis I supported D3 even after all the launch issues when a lot of other people gave up and didn't come back. This game has made huge improvements in 4 years but I don't think wanting improvements to keep happening is a selfish thing to ask. Pushing gr's and para lvls forever is like watching the same movie over and over.
You are entitled to your own opinion, but saying "without an expansion the game will soon be dead" and creating a title "time to pull the plug" (which I assume means the plug on the servers, not the plug on your computer) makes me aggro indeed.
I stopped playing Diablo for now as well (in part more because of personal reasons than lack of enjoyment of the game), and I've always taken breaks from playing Diablo in the past 20 years. But I know that this is also simply because as you get older, priorities in life shift and I perceive video games differently now. However, the long-term motivational aspects of Diablo 3 are in many ways better than that of any of its predecessors. It took me a few weeks to fully gear a D1 character to be at maximum power. In D2, some players hit the "end" (level 99) after a few weeks. In D3, the curve is different; gearing has become much simpler, but the current endgame (paragon, rare ancient items, augmentation, and most importantly GR records) keeps many people engaged for a long time. I personally dislike some of those end-game activities (especially the "paragon grind"), but there needs to be some sort of goal that keeps you going. Whether you like it or not is personal preference.
A new expansion will bring back people for a week or two, maybe a month tops. Then all people left will be the same that are playing now. Especially from someone who claims to have played Diablo 1, I would've expected a more constructive topic. We can have a discussion whether the shift from gear to other things (paragon, gems, records) is a good thing for creating longevity, but you didn't do that. The current system works for many people - maybe not for your, and only to some extent for me. But it works for many many others.
Why would a new expansion only bring back people for such a short time? ROS brought a lot of people back and got some new players interested as well I guess I am just frustrated. I guess pushing endless gr's and para just isn't very thrilling to me and I feel like hunting loot has taken a back seat. I just want this game to be as good as it possibly can be and to be able to have that excitement when something good drops again. Point is I love Diablo and think improvements can always be made.
Diablo 3 becomes incredibly boring and insanely repetitive over time.. Is it bad? Yes, absolutely.
But it happens with every game if you play for 2000 hours, does not matter how much of a fan you are.
Should we be greatful for all continuous "support" that we are still getting, after 4 years? Yes of cause.
But let's compare. Path of Exile = free game. Daily\weekly patches and fixes, new leagues, new items, 2 free expansions. FREE GAME GUYS.
And for Diablo: i personally paid 60$ for D3, then i bought ROS for another 40-60$ (can't remember). Then i've been struggling with stash space and had to purchase Collector's Edition for 80$. So i invested almost 200$ in this game. And i've got 1 expansion, and we get major patches like once every 6-10 months. Also it takes months for Blizzard to just hotfix stuff. This is just inadequate.
I don't know why it is like that. Lack of resources, lack of interest, simple lazyness. Many items have same design since DAY ONE (mask of jeram/helltooth mask and so on).
We are still playing the game because we just love Diablo and we love killing monsters. But at the same time we look, compare and then we realize it can all be DIFFERENT and MUCH BETTER.
First off I am also a D1 die hard fans. I play less often now simply I have other priorities. The current mode is completely playable, albeit shifted from the previous loot grinding. I am now at best a casual player, and play occasionally at will. But just develop and try a new build one at a time for all classes is a lot of fun, which may also take you many hours. With the new items introduced in each patch, the experience is very much refreshing and rewarding. I don't play season now, and my gem and paragon levels are not high at all, but I manage to do grift 70 with comfort for many classes in different builds. One good thing of Diablo is that you can play it anytime, pause and resume.

There is no discussion to be had here. You are just laying out your opinions about nothing in particular.
How many times have threads been started on dfans based on opinion ? Damn near all of them. I thought Dfans was all things Diablo I guess it is only for posting topics that everyone can agree on. Maybe the point was missed but I do love D3. It has came a long ways but the game can always be improved.
Seems that was all you saw because you sound like a broken record player. I have tried redirecting the conversation but all your interested in is personal attacks because you don't agree. And I did talk about the future expansion/d4 being the future.

Personal opinion, there would have been discussion if our moderator did not derail it with the first post. Normally Threads like this turn into 1-2 pages of QQ whining, and then 3+ pages of suggested fixes.
A good moderator would have known that and not derailed the topic so fast!
I mean, D3 has clear issues. But it also has a lot of strengths.
I feel the paragon system can be a strength if fine tuned and not centered around "+5 main stat"
I like that we get gear faster and can clear harder content faster. You can still grind to min/max your gear, and I would be willing to wager that 50% of the playerbase thinks that is the same as the grind to simply get gear.
I would love a new expansion!
I think GR's need to be more static, right now they are not a good test of skill, they completely inhibit botting mindsets because they have an easy formula for success, that being "TIME PLAYED EQUALS SUCCESS!" That is a fail formula, SKILL SHOULD ALWAYS DETERMINE THE BEST.
I can think of several other major changes I would love to see, but those are some talking points I think many could have carried on with relative maturity instead of bashing the OP for pouring out there emotion about the Diablo Universe. Some of you need to stop with the diehard troll and learn to be objective!

This is what the Diablo series is all about. It's always about grinding.

You bought the game ages ago. For a one time fee. 4 years later you are still getting free updates and new content. Why do you complain ?
