As long as you have the computer for it, they shouldn't have a limit. What ressource do they take once they are out of screen? They are not in the screen, so no need to render them, only a bit to remember its position and how it was placed.
So, maxed, bodies would not disapear for a good while. I see no reason for that not to exist either more lazyness in a more recent engine. God knows how many just drop features like that. And they call their engines better over time? My ass.
I dont get what the big deal is if corpses dissapear quicker. Im fine with regular monsters corpses dissapearing faster i would just like for bosses to stay a bit longer. But either way it doesnt bother me its not like im going to stand there and say dam i just killed 50 fallen let me stand here and look at their bodies for 10 minutes.

The corpse disappearance time in Diablo III has been changed. Check out the new gameplay trailers and you'll see they last much longer.
I think the system they have now is that there can be 20-30 dead monsters that will stay on screen, but once more than that are killed, the oldest corpses start to disappear. Which is fine by me. Glad they changed it.
They stated once that it was changed as Acid has said. Am I the only one who remember the official statement?
Now corpses disappear after a certain amount is on-screen. They last for an infinite amount of time on your screen so long as you don't walk too far away from them or create more than X amounts of corpses. X scales upwards according to your computer specs or the amount you set it as in your settings.
Meh thats fine. Its really not that big of a deal.

They stated that the bodies disappeared quickly in the first gameplay trailers.
Blizzard has stated that the bodies will last longer than they did in the first trailers.
Its quite possible that they might make it client side applicable to corpse time.
Same with blood, body parts etc.
All it depends on is your Graphics card. (in most cases)
I do hope blizzard allows the players to decide how long the bodies stay on the ground.
Seeing how body popping (barbarian D2) probably isnt a factor, it wont matter how long anyone can see the corpses.
Perhaps the corpses will have an independent timer for "Functional use" like corpse explosion.
Example: You kill a monster, monster is now a corpse, after 25-30 secs of the corpse just sitting there, you cannot perform a function on that corpse.
The corpse is now just for show.
Except when your within the 30 sec corpse timer.

well they weren't eternal in D2 either.. For example I had a find item barb that I used to run Travincal sometimes. Well a few times my weapon broke while some of the council was still alive.. IF i didn't pop the corpses right away but went to town repair, there wasn't any corpses left on the ground when I came back.
Sorry akse, look up a post and you'll see I was only merely wisecracking thee old whip again. The only corpses that will last a bit longer, if anything, are the Walking Corpses!!
I'm pretty sure corpses are 100% for show. They get tossed around locally by havok physics, the server doesn't track where they get thrown in that process. None of the known skills interact with corpses and there probably won't be any. Which is just as well considering it's a poorly balanced mechanic.
Well im pretty sure i saw on some post that they're going to release D3 with a graphics card so you can play it, you know just in case your card cant play D3. Thats going to be one pricy package though.

Anyone think that corpses disappear too fast in D3?
Watch from 0:55 to 1:10ish...

like, on older machines, it disappear faster. But it will eventually disappear for everyone, like reform said. it's a Resource Hog.

Point taken. I just thought it was a fun contradiction of a corpse resting in peace.. I need to work on my satire more!
IMO. I don't think I am going to hang around the same spot 2ice as long as to care to see my fallen foes.. I would much rather have performance
