Not directly but if i remember correctly they discussed some ways of tweaking it by lesser drops and such. But this is an issue they will only start solving when they have the real product done.
Thanks for the heads up, I couldn't find any info on it either. As long as we can still trade/sell any weapon/armor/drop we obtain and that there is a market for doing so without having to access outside sources like D2JSP(and obtain currency through them) etc, I feel everything else can just fall into place.
I hope we can get confirmation of these fundamentals at the next Blizzcon.
So I noticed when gold falls you don't manually have to loot it. Do you guys think this is how it's going to stay? And when you kill a monster do other players see that gold and can walk into it? Or is it just you who can loot it?
agreed. they did mention they plan on making it hold value this time around. Hopefully they will include some unique uses available through merchants to spend gold on, other than your scrolls, repair.
I'm pretty sure they confirmed gambling in some capacity. Jay mentioned players had mixed experiences; some figured it out (and then they had to go nerf it by taking away uniques) while others rolled for worthless items and never went back to it. I think gambling would be great especially if gold were worth something. A precious chance for an elite item. That's the way it should be.
there wasn't in D2 but what's to say they won't change it for D3.
personally, i hope that doesn't happen since i am a super cheap gamer. i refuse to spend unnecessary money in-game.
if i can walk to a place and save money, i'd walk
I dunno, repairing makes a bit of sense. It is not logical to swing a sword at something 500 times and not have a little bit of damage. It should actually be more expensive IMO.
To avoid the problem of having no money there could be a simple debt system that charges interest when you dip below zero gold.
And if you can't maintain your weapon get a cheaper one.
One thing i hated in D2 was gold it was utterly useless. I hated how everyone wanted a piece to another set for this set i wish i couldve given them my gold instead would've been alot easier. I had so much gold by the end of the game it was like alright might as well just drop it. But now that they'll make it useful im sure it will be harder to get. I think 1-100 gold drops from any monster cause if you give like 5000 gold per kill of a high level act 4 monster in hell then youll be able to buy sets and elite items in seconds rather than actually have to work your way for the gold. Obviouslly the Bartering sytem of D2 worked fine and was usefull in some cases but most of the times it was annoying to be a noob with No MF and having to run into drop games to get a jalals and sell it for the barbarians set helm.

That the last monster in the game drops 5 gold or 50000000 is not what makes or break the economy. Except that bigger numbers just get confusing in item prices later on.
if they do make respeccing cost money, I hope they make it a fixed amount, and not have it scale according to how many times you respec; that just annoys me >.<
No an AH is impossible in D3... Remember that AH was hosted in each channel of the worlds in WoW in specific places. We dont have game channels we just have a game that only 4 players can be in so they would need to create an AH in the lobby and thats alot of extra stuff to add. The lobby would just be packed with spammers saying

because itll probably cost money to put your items up for auction so people will prob just spam the lobby

blizz will support noobs, so i dont think ther'll be gold cost 4 wp
maybe very expensive pots, goes well with the implemented life globes
well, actually
my WW assassin had a broken weapon after each baal run and cost me like 5 pgems per repair when I ran out of runes to repair it with
eventually I just stopped playing it because of the cost
it does kill gameplay

exactly
and about repairing making a return, i think that blizz jst need to make it cheap
