For me it's too much of a toss up to choose. I know the witch doctor is my least favorite, but I can't pick my favorite. Chances are who I start with will largely be based on my mood when I get the game. That being said, the barb has a good chance to be my starter since he's a returning character and it'd be kinda neat plot-wise.
Witch Doctor.
His the most original one in terms of concept. His focused on bizarre and gross stuff, like summon a zumbie that vomit spiders, toads that explodes like a bile bubbles and swarm of hungry insect that leave only bones behind. Still he have at the same time a spiritual side by summoning fire spirits and devouring other's souls.
I like how his colorfull and dark, insane and wise, at the same time. He's the mixture of oposite concepts in one perfect harmony !
Personally, I was a huge fan of the Witch Doctor throughout the first three unveiled classes. Never liked the Barb and I've played a Sorceress too much on Diablo II and as of such the Wizard seems sort of stale to me. Thought the concept was great.
That was until I saw the Monk yesterday. At first I was skeptical--the image shown was of a bearded, orange wearing hippie with a staff. I said to myself, "this is going to be horrible," and as I watched him demolish his targets with absolute brutality, I decided that the Monk is badass. Most original? No. The Witch Doctor still gets that, but definitely the most badass.
Though I'll still try the WD in all of its spider, goo, bat, decrepit hound goodness.
lol yes buddy!!
as soon as i saw the witch doctor unvelied i immediately decided hed be the first class id play. I mean, he can make his pets explode!!

I think monk for me. Lol, yesterday I was actually flaming monk, believe it or not, but after watching the gameplay vids and hearing about his background lore and stuff, sounds like a fun class to be able to kick diablo's ass with
I used to play barb alot on D2, couple times with sorc and thats it. Monk sounds like the most tasteful(not in a gay sense) character to explore. Looking forward to D3 release.
Barbarian from the game's announcement. Looks great, love his skills, the fury system so far looks better than mana, and he is the same one from d2, so it will be interesting to know his story.
The second is the monk, looks great too, and mixing combos seems like a lot of fun.
I also have to say I'm gonna choose WD (that is unless the last class is a javazon ^^). Anyway, I was never a fan of sorcerer/wizard/mage kinda stuff, the barbarian looks too simple and the monk looks like he's a combination of Chuck Norris and Zeus, with his fast uncontrolled "smashing one mob and electro-zapping" everything around, until you see dead bodies kinda stuff (yeah yeah, start throwing rocks at me :D). As for WD, it seams kind of bizzare and unarguably the most unique character so far, with his famous "zombie has vomited spiders" and swarming his own pets with mosquitos...
the monk looks like chuck norris mixed with zeus....you just became my idol lol

So you're picking a character not based on gameplay, but on concept? k.

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.

but i wanna know which one for you stumps out the rest and tell reasons why
for me it was barbarian because you could feel the raw power behind all of his moves
its now the monk because i prefer nimble fast paced combat ...while still feeling stronger than chuck norris on steroids fighting king kong
so yea opinions and if its been done to much feel free to close mods

so id have to say there will prob be more barb fans than monk fans
but my fav happens to be the new monk =3 since i supported the idea a while ago xD
and i love the play style mixed magic and physical combat =3
its almost as fun as mixed summons and Offensive magic on the necro xD
i like the way they did his videos too since it made him look like a super hero almost xD
Be my Buddy =^.^=
i think ppl will pick their true favorites rather than the new class
in fact i know most ppl didnt even support this idea earlier so im expecting far more ppl to flock to the barbarian
however im going to go with the monk since ive supported the idea before and they made him seem kinda like a super hero xD
Be my Buddy =^.^=
maybe the WD will have the skills
foot tickle and ear poke XD
Be my Buddy =^.^=
it has been my wish for a class like that since the game was announced and i am just so happy that my wish has been granted

I think the only way I wouldn't play the monk first is if they put in some crazy DND-type Master Thrower class
The Flying Spaghetti Monster is awesome.
