So I just saw the schedule for what those of us who purchased the live stream will be seeing:
Friday
11:00 - 11:30 AM Welcome to BlizzCon 2009
11:30 - 12:00 PM Opening Ceremony
12:30 - 1:30 PM World of Warcraft Preview Panel
2:00 - 3:00 PM Diablo III Heroes & Monsters Panel
3:30 - 4:30 PM StarCraft II Battle.net Discussion Panel
5:00 - 6:00 PM World of Warcraft Class Discussion Panel
6:00 - 8:00 PM Contests
Saturday
11:00 - 11:30 AM Welcome to Day 2
11:30 - 12:30 PM Diablo III Open Q&A Panel
1:00 - 2:00 PM World of Warcraft Dungeons & Raids Panel
2:30 - 3:30 PM StarCraft II Lore Panel
4:00 - 5:00 PM StarCraft II Gameplay Panel
6:30 - 8:00 PM Closing Ceremony
Pretty lame if you ask me. So instead of choosing what panels we actually watch, we get to see what Blizzard deems "popular". I thought it was bad enough when I saw the Blizzcon 2009 attendee schedule lacked the Diablo 3 lore panel, but now I won't even be seeing the art panel. I would watch a less popular Diablo 3 art panel over WoW Dungeons and Raids any day of the week. The news is fairly depressing, as Diablo 3 is getting one hour less than the other games. Once again Blizzard sets the Diablo 3 fans aside in favor of SC2 and WoW. I mean, come on, is Cataclysm going to be so breath-taking that we have to hear about that stupid game this much? At least they get regular updates...
But seriously, I hope that D3 Open Q&A panel is worth it. I would have rather them set up selected info they will talk about instead of letting the crowd beg for any bit of info they can now release... I pitty myself for paying $40 for this service, as half of it will probably be aired later on Youtube. I just wanted to make sure I got to see all the Diablo panels, but life is a bitch isn't it?

Diablo is smallest blizzard franchise in terms of popularity, so it makes perfect sense that it have a smaller space.
However it's really lame how you can't manage what you will see. Rly... people are paying alot, they should at least choose the panels etc...
Well, i don't think Diablo is a less popular franchise than Starcraft... If you compare the whole franchise, according to Wikipedia, Starcraft series has sold 11million copies worldwide, and Diablo series sold 20 million copies, so...
Also alot of diablo people lost there disk and just bought a new one lol

Um...
As of August 29, 2001, Diablo II has sold 4 million copies worldwide.
Under the Reception subheading here. I haven't seen a new statistic anywhere in that article besides that one. I'm going to keep looking, though.
That's just Diablo II, though. Think about it, though- in the Diablo series there is two main games and an expansion, in the SC series there is only one game and an expansion, and that single game has nearly triple-out-sold Diablo II alone.
Regardless, the topic:
Yeah, this is why I didn't ultimately buy the stream. Everything will be covered within a day or two after the fact, and we'll have nearly instant updates here with our live chat sessions.
Though I will admit the Starcraft franchise is a bit more popular that Diablo (being and e-sport and all), I wouldn't dare say Diablo is less of a game. It deserves just as much time on stage this time around, if not more. What more can they really tell us about Starcraft without revealing too much of the campaign? Diablo 3 on the other hand is in the middle of probably the biggest overhaul of what I would call "actual development" (as opposed to the extensive balancing that will follow) that we have ever seen. There is just so much more to say about Diablo 3, yet Starcraft gets an entire extra hour on the live stream.
I for one believe it would have been more than easy to allow any given user the option to choose between which panel they view, even if that means not being able to catch the ones they chose to miss. Everyone is going to and watching Blizzcon for a reason. People at the show get to choose the panels they see, we should have the same ability. To me, this is poor quality in its finest. I can only hope this poor choice of coverage quality does not reflect a new change in Blizzard's integrity as a company when it comes to making truly amazing games. If so, the last company I have the ability to have faith in just went down the shitter....
Personally the only reason I bought this live stream was to make sure I got to see all the Diablo 3 panels, as I believe a few might not have made it out of Blizzcon 2008 (correct me if I am wrong). I wanted to see them as they happen as well. Looks like I will just get to see the "popular" stuff. Oh well, at least they are saying the time between panels will show us some stuff on the floor. Maybe they will show us some clips of people playing the demo. As I have said before, I will be trying to do my best to update the forums with any brand new info released as it comes. In the case that nobody beats me to it, expect me to be posting about the new class (if we even get one XD).

Darn. Hopefully the D3 panels are worth it for ya man. I contemplated buying the live feed, but then I saw that dfans is going to be hosting that live chat which is good enough for me then. I WOULD, however, love to have gone to BlizzCon there in Cali like the many of you guys here, haha. It looks like a neat experience.

.
Thank you very much, I was just about to say that.
Another detail is that SC have maintained through all those long years a unbelievable healthy competitive scenarium. SC are one of the most important e-sports out there.
Diablo however have lost most of it's old popularity. D2 Bnet nowdays looks like a weasteland compered to what it was back 2003.

I've to agree with that. But calmdown my friend, justice will be made. When D3 sell the hell out they will start to make brass statue of our favorite characters '-'

I don't really know why they did that. If i've bought the stream i would pissed off =/
And i'm glad some of us, diablo fans users, are covering stuff so closely. I wish i could do that and contribute... One day maybe
How many people here have purchased the live stream? I really want to see Blizzcon but $40 seems exceptionally steep. :<
I did, 50/50 with my roommate, so it's cheaper

I'll be working... someone please video these.
I'll capture the whole blizzcon stream, and eventually upload the most interesting parts. If there isn't someone who already does a thread about it on DiabloFans.com, I'll probably post some links to the different interesting parts of the stream. Oviously, I will upload Diablo3 panels, and I also hope they'll be really good!
Anyway, you'll hear about me sunday, if I uploaded some of these videos.
Also, if you want some specific parts of the blizzcon(Except the Diablo3 panels), just send me a PM, and I'll reply with a link to the video of this specific part after it's uploaded!
As a side note, I just emptied my 1To HDD to prepare for the stream, and tested FRAPS with the RAYv HD player that will be used at BlizzCon, and the result is awesome. All that to record Ozzy's show for my roommate who's out of town...

I mean, I'm not saying that Diablo sequel is better than starcraft, but surely isn't worse and it deserves to have the same number of panels, time and attention at the Blizzcon...
Of course, Diablo2 sold well too, but I think there are more pannels about SC2 and WoW:Cataclysm because they are the next 2 releases, and Diablo3 will have a higher presence at next year's BlizzCon, since it'll be closer to the release!

If you can't amaze people with your intelligence, confuse them with your bullshit.
Is there any possible way that someone could pick up the stream, and transfer it over for the rest of us to view?
haha I thought of it too, do you mean to stream it live, free, for everyone?
I wanted to try too, using xfire, but it seems like 'RayV Player' (The player they're using for the Live Stream) isn't considered as a 'game' by xfire, so it cannot stream it(Or I did something wrong when I tried).
Anyway I need to record it, and I don't think I'd be able to record it AND stream it live too, so if anyone else paid for the stream and wants to try to stream it, go for it! (Though, I don't think Blizzard would appreciate someone streaming it free since they're already doing a paid stream, it could bring up some troubles )

BTW, can anyone confirm that this schedule is using GMT-8??
I think it is, since it's in Anaheim(CA), but I simply want to make sure, that if I come back from work at 1PM@GMT-5(10AM@GMT-8), I wont have missed like 2 hours of it...

Hi all, have been reading this forum for a while and decided to join in, seems like a more active and involving community than battle.net's own Diablo III forums.
Anyway, I found a link to this in my mailbox today from some sc2 website I registered at a long time ago.. looks like they will be doing a semi-live stream of the Blizzcon Virtual Ticket.
The link goes to an announcement with a link to their Twitter page, which is where they will be posting everything, I suppose.
If there is actually going to be video, then this, combined with the live chat on this site (which I think is awesome and look forward to!) should be almost enough to satisfy our blizzcon cravings.
