ok so ive been reading around the forums, mostly about class discussion.. people keep saying two other classes will be left for the expansion, ive watched alot of of the gameplay/panel videos but havn't really heard any statement to confirm it (correct me if i missed it), all ive heard is that other classes could be braught in, in an expansion if they wanted to.
is there just going to be one expansion for this game? or could there be a few expansions, each one bringing out a new character/act? or has it already been said that diablo 3 = 5 characters and 4 acts, one expansion.
tell me what ya think.
edit- i don't think you understand my post, im saying i was reading around alot, and people are saying there are 2 classes saved for an expansion, and, what im saying is
will there be a expansion, will there be two expansions, and so on..
i did not mention the necro, and for those who are saying he is coming back is a false statement, i believe one of the designers or whatever said, in reply to someone saying that the witchdocter and necro are basically the same, the designer then said, there not really the same.. blah.blah, if we wanted to, we could still bring in the necro and it would be different.
anyway my thread is to discuss, how many expansions? acts/ characters.(do you think, and why). in the long run, im just curious, thats why.
They've already stated that the Necro isn't going to be in D3, but they said that he will appear in further expansions. It's also speculated that the expansions will hold to D2:LOD where after a while, Blizzard will think up a new class then release it for people to go through the game with. Necro's the only pretty much confirmed class.

"Hey guys...don't you ever just...fall over...cuz ya know...the world is moving...and you're standing still?"
ha ha , some people make me laugh... lets wait for D3 and After that talk about the possible expansions. I don't know why most people nag about the necro, I mean he's not coming in D3, he's not coming in d3. Would you really wanna play the same old necro instead of the brand new Witch doctor? According to me, the witch doctor fits a lot more of what I call a dark magic and death expert than the necro.
I'm just curious, why do you even care about that now? We don't even know the starting 5 classes and you want to know about expansions and additional classes ... Most of the unofficial info here is based on speculation/logic/indefinite info from Blizzard posters. To sum it up, it is not cool to ask expansions now

Alright, I hate to be this person, but come on necro fans.

NO where has it been said that the necro WILL return to D3 in an expansion. Please do not spread your self-diluted beliefs as facts to other people asking serious questions. Here is what has been actually said about the situation:
"Our approach for classes in 'Diablo III' is that we don't have a strong desire to bring back classes from the previous game," Wilson told me. "The goal is to try and give people new gameplay and not just re-hash old gameplay. We're not just making a 'Diablo II' with updated 3D graphics." "The problem was, we looked at the class and didn't think that we could really make him a lot better," he explained. "We could add some new stuff to him but for the most part -- curses, corpse explosion, skeleton pets -- done. That's the class. We wanted to create new gameplay, so we chose to do the Witch Doctor as a different kind of class."
Though the Witch Doctor will have similar abilities to the Necromancer, Wilson didn't want to "have to live by any Necromancer rules." One of the big differences between the two classes is how damage is actually dealt. "If [the Necromancer] dealt damage, it was through corpses laying around or through his pets," he said. "The Witch Doctor, his pets are a little more transient. If you watch the gameplay video, you really notice his pets come and go like crazy. There's a wall of zombies that go away fairly quickly or pets that just kind of blow up willy-nilly. That was intentional -- to try and make him different than the Necromancer."
However, for those who are really passionate about the Necromancer, there's still hope to see the class in a "Diablo III" expansion. In fact, Wilson thought that expansions might be a great place to bring back any of the old classes not included, particularly since the team itself had passionate debates on the topic -- almost as much as the game's art direction. "There's a lot of people on our team who aren't happy with our class choices,? he admitted. "But after we've established 'Diablo III' as its own game with its own type of gameplay and experiences, I wouldn't be opposed to looking at old classes. We are trying to design [the Witch Doctor] class so that if we did bring back the Necromancer, there's room for him. We're looking out ahead of time at what our expansions are going to be, so we've got to keep room open for some of those other classes down the road."
Wilson added, "It's one of those things where, unless we put like 30 classes in the game, people are going to be unhappy. But if we put 30 classes in the game, we'd hurt the game. I think that of the classes that we've chosen, there will be something for everyone. I'm not worried that people won't be able to find a class that they like to play."
So, as you can see there has been no official comment stating that the necro will return. And IMO I don't think he will. They mention a lot of reasons to not add him and only for it, the fans want him.
The only news I could find on an expansion is this:
Morhaime: In terms of expansions, I think a little bit more frequently is probably good with sort of the goal to get closer to an annual expansion. But I think it really depends on what content you put in the expansion. I don?€™t think Blizzard will ever be able to do sequels of products like a ?€œDiablo III?€? or ?€œDiablo IV?€? on an annual basis, but we might be able to do expansions to those games close to annually.
Hmmm, is there more profit? In an ideal scenario, I think we?€™d probably do [expansions] a little bit more often than we?€™ve been able to do. But I agree ?€” I think putting too many expansions out too frequently, you probably get to the point where people do need to start taking a little break.
It doesn't give any real information but honestly, the game is not even out yet, why would there be any real news on an expansion for the game. In regards to the OP, no there has been no information stating how many characters will be released in an expansion nor any information on which classes they will be. The only news there has been is that they will more than likely do an expansion and it is possible for any of the old classes to return if they choose so.

I really hope the necro doesn't return, and I agree with Blizz in that I can't really see any reason to bring him back - His role in the game is verymuch replaced by the witch doctor from a gamplay standpoint, and as such it seems pointless to bring him back unless they took the way he was played and gave it a serious overhall
hazaah. I knew waking up at 5:00am would pay off. Just kidding, I had to work @ 6:00 today.
On topic: in my OPINION every class in intial release tend to have very different play styles/skills. Where as the expansion characters can have a little bit of overlap. Such as the necro being the pet class originally and then the Druid coming with pets later.

They've said from the start that there's going to be 5 classes, so you might want to search WWI 08 information to find where they said it, or otherwise interviews right after that. I'm sure it's around that time that they said it.
As for expansions, I think the only thing I heard about that is that the Necro and other old classes might appear in an expansion, and I think they said that there would probably be more than 1 expansion.
Neither of this is certain.
yep sorry, i totally wrote my post wrong, i was ment to say 5 characters and 4 acts, i edited it.

They are nagging because they want the necro, yes, I would prefer the necro to the witch doctor. I will play the witch doctor; and no doubt like it, but I think the necromancer is a better conceptual character. The necro could have been made with a fresh new look and the skills would have still been interesting. Look what they did with whirlwind for the barbarian, that attack got put on steriods in D3, makes me want to play the barb all over again. If blizzard wanted to, they could have brought the necromancer back.
I think the OP was just confused why other people were saying things about the expansion such as there being two classes for it. Most of us have responded that they are just speculating and have now turned it into a thread about the expansion.

Yeah, the only thing that I remember them saying about Necro is that he won't be a new class in D3, BUT if fans will be whining about it SO much, then he might appear in the expansion.
cheers
Which is a bad thing.. I'd rather not see necro in the game at all because if they are kinda like "forced" to bring it back.. it might not fit the game so well as some other option they might have had.
is there just going to be one expansion for this game? or could there be a few expansions, each one bringing out a new character/act? or has it already been said that diablo 3 = 5 characters and 4 acts, one expansion.

Yeah... No they haven't. At all, if memory serves me they said Necro will not be in D3 and that is it.
Also, where do you get this shit from? The Barbarian is the only confirmed class, which has already been released.
The amount of crap you could come up with inspired me to create a forum account just to point out how much of a troll you are.
Please source that, I believe you're confusing rumor with fact
The expansions were essentially confirmed some time ago, I'm going to look for the article.
