Or maybe just slightly less hellish than that.
Thats hiiiilahahahahaharrious!!!!!
No one would be able to stop me from getting MY copy.
OH wait... if the games banned then that means that
there would be noone on battle.net playing it even IF i got the game.
Oh nooo.... QQ
Well then I say they push it to just under the limit haha
I want hell to be ungodly. So that people can gloat and say they beat hell, as though it was near impossible.
I know that the current trend amongst developers is to go for availability, but that's the purpose of Normal difficulty. Nightmare and Hell should present a true challenge in much the way that Hardcore does. The challenge of never dying is a true challenge. Look at how games are now, everything practically regains health. It's so rare to see an FPS that operates like the old ones, such as Nuke Dukem, where you'd have to get health packs to survive.
I don't think despair is something that can be conveyed through a game, but desolation certainly is. If the level is immersive enough, then you certainly get a feel of isolated hopelessness.
In any event, I believe the best representation of Hell in any game is in Doom 3. I especially like how Earth and Hell are linked.
I've never actually seen the Doom 3 hell, sounds pretty interesting though from what people have said.
We'll definitely be getting a feeling of desolation in D3 hell, hopefully anyways ^^.
And welcome to the forums unandpw !

"One in every 10 million people can potentially have a headache from this pill." God forbid she is the 0.000000001% of having a headache.
I want my Hell to feel as if I was 8 years old again and just got D1. I want it to be so scary that it takes me 10 mins to decide whether I should go down to the lower dungeon or not. I want to have to beg people to create a hack that gives max light radius, but still know that no one will ever do it. I want it to be so addicting that I'll be so terrified that ill be crying, but I'll still feel the need to venture onward into the dark abyss.
I'd have to wrack my brain a bit to come up with a unique version of Hell. The whole fire and brimstone thing is so synonymous with Hell that it's almost difficult to envision anything else.
I must say that I agree with Dane though, Diablo 1's Hell was actually quite original and frightening. First of all it's not at all what I expected for Hell (I went in there thinking it was going to be a Mordor-esque wasteland with the typical fire, lava etc.). The second thing was that the monsters in Hell were actually pretty damn difficult, at least for my level 25-ish warrior in single player. You had to tread lightly because those knights and mages and succubi could maul you pretty damn quickly if you weren't careful. I vividly remember gasping "Oh ****!" more than once as I turned a corner and saw a veritable horde of knights storming down the corridor.
By comparison I found Hell in Diablo 2 to be a joke. I braced myself for one Hell of a fight (oh dear, what a terrible pun) coming out of the Pandemonium Fortress and seeing a mob of angry "megademons" charging towards me. Suffice to say it was over before it started and my character butchered all of them without breaking a sweat. It was kind of underwhelming.
Therefore my first request for Hell in Diablo 3 is that it should damn well be bloody hard, especially for a first run character just entering it. It's the domain of the Three, the domain of demon-kind. The demons here are fully manifested and at full power, they should be powerful enough to pose a significant threat to the player in my opinion.
Also, I would like Blizzard to represent that Hell is a "living" kingdom, or dominion of sorts. Let's see some demonic overseers and torture-masters tormenting the souls of the damned. Therefore I'd like to see people in pits of lava, struggling to escape, people on various torture-engines, in cages etc. Let's get the atmosphere of eternal damnation and utter hopelessness going.
I once played Titan quest - the immortal throne, i must say that the hell in the last ACT is really horrific and breath-taking, i went down to through a tunnel where the soul of streams been flowed into the HELL GATE. There are ghosts living in a abondoned town, they give you directions to the resident of the evils.
I think the hell can be a great castle or tower or a labyrinth, build on lava and fire, in which the evils are very strong and dangerous.
I want it to be huge, at least as big as Act 2, with a lot of changes. Cavernous, raining blood, lava, tortured souls, etc. Just fucking chaotic and uninviting.
I hope they get it right this time because, in my opinion, they didn't get it right in 1 or 2.
While some would probably find it annoying, I think it would be cool if sometimes gravity just changed directions and suddenly you'd be falling sideways. As if physics was breaking down or something.

I agree, Hell should be a disorienting place.
This could fit into the idea that the character going through Hell would be going through a mental battle to keep ahold of their wits and sanity.
Because seriously, if you were plopped into Hell and told to murder the devil (or devil-equivalent), you'd be tripping out.

At the entrance of the hell should have a pieces of flesh all around the ground ...
On the right should have a bunch of hands , trying to stop you from entering , on the left should have a small childrens butrchered.
Just above your head should have dismounted parts of bodies and unborn chields.
The door itself should look like a golem , which split on 2 when you open the door.
The path from the beginning should be gray filled with stones and bones, but soon it should change only in flesh ,blood and dirt.
As more and more proceed , you shall start walking on living bodies and small swarning creatures while they scream painfully.
A balck and red smoke should be epowered with voices and noises which creeps to the bones,
and sometime from this mist should lurking for a second a ghosts.
All among the path should have a butchered by different way humans and animals, and still blood from them.
When some of the still living butcherd corpses regenerate a bit , it should scream "Please, Please kill me, please, and then start to cry".
I like the idea of a golem door, would have to be pretty massive though. Not just like... a small door on a house. The doorway to hell should be more like a skyscraper.
I also like the idea of the black smoke, it would really screw with your mind if ghosts faded in and out of it.
Perhaps this could be a monster that only fades into existance when it attacks you, then quickly faded out again ?
Well, I gotta say, that could be the most gruesome vision of hell yet.
I love it ^^.

I'd love a lot of nasty surprises, like somebody asking for help and then you get close and he attacks you, screaming people, walking and then suddenly you get trapped in a room and creatures emerge from nowhere, black smoke as said before, being tackled from nowhere like in D1, also facing enemies from the past(Blood Raven, Lazarus, yourself), but I think Blizzard will do a great job in this hell, they should've learn from the past to make a better D3.

"Eternal suffering would be too brief for you, Diablo!"
This is offtopic but still need to say it: It would really made me laugh if the secret level(if there is one) would be a hell version full of happy colors, cute bunnies that want to kill you and that stuff, it would really make me lol.
