I thought all of this was happening in the mideveil times, thus the severe lack of technology. If i remember correctly, people also used slings as a powerful weapon to
slay their enemies.
Im trying to google search and find some good sling weapons. Can't seem to find anything good thats not horribly stupid.
aint u ever heard of david and goliath. ur thinking about the roman sling
Goliath may have had a tumor in his pituitary gland which pressed against his optic nerve. This pressure caused a blur in his vision making it easier for David to get within range of his sling. With a lucky shot to Goliath's temple, the tumor likely hemorrhaged and caused him to die.
But anyway, while you could easily argue that some enchanted sling or something could be just as powerful as any other weapon in Diablo, I still think it would look just a little too silly.
Slingers had javelins and Saber Cats had whips... I'm sure I've seen some of those guys with slings before? Maybe not
I don't think that kind of weapon is befitting of a mighty prime evil slaying hero however, its the kind of thing (that Daemaro mentioned in another thread) that a cowardly fallen would use as a weapon... imo anyway
Fling rocks to kill Diablo? Nah. I prefer the Sword of a Thousand Truths.
Rofl, I loved that episode so much.
You never know though, we could end up with the Pebble of a Thousand Truths.
I do think sling weapons would work quite well though, I wouldn't mind seeing them ^^.
Doubt there would be any builds centered around them though.
Then again, a character who could enchant their ammunition to explode on impact, or other such things would be pretty neat. This might end up functioning like a bowzon though...
And wow, just noticed that I'm arguing with myself :/
3 cheers for schizophrenia...

Personally I would so love to see claws come back as a weapon type. But I'm such an Assassin loyalist that I actually wouldn't any other class but the Sins to use them.
Should a sling actually be in D3, I can only picture it having about as much use as potions in D2. Not bad for lower levels, but later on you just resent their existence.
Don't go talkin no smack about Baldur's Gate, foo'.
That game kicked tons of ass, should dig it out again and replay it...
Lol im not talking smack about BG
I also played and finished the game and enjoyed it very much (1, totsc, 2, soa, iwd 1,2 , etc etc)
Im just saying that slings looked kinda lame in BG and that its not such a good idea to have them in d3...
Do you get that feeling that you want to play baldurs gate 2 again, then you start it and u see yourself trapped in that stupid prison controlled by irenicus... I just want the freedom of movement on the begining... i dont want to repeat this prison scene everytime i start new
Slings suck. Great weapon for a low level enemy. Like those little boogers that run away from you in the 3rd act of D2. Definitly NOT good for a playable character.

I completely agree. If they were to turn our ranged character into a sling character i would shoot my self.

Does anybody know of some good ones?
The world may never know...
By medieval they had bows and javelins which were much more effective.

Unless slings launch fireballs. That might work

Truth.
Slings are more a middle eastern weapon i think... like David and Goliath u know?
I think slings were first invented by the ancient Egyptians... along with the whip, the chariot, and probably some other things
