Didnt do a search, sorry in advance, but I had to get this out of my head, its been bugging me for days...
Anyway, Set Bonuses. I recently reinstalled (and have become hopelessly re-addicted to) Diablo 2 and LOD. Finding loot is, as far as Im concerned anyway, awesomely awesome. Sets in particular. I had been using my level 70 Paladin (not a Hammerdin, btw) to farm Pindleskin and Meph/Baal, and had collected so many pieces of various sets that I needed to buy a second D2/LOD set, so that I could transfer loot between my characters. I now have parts of 17 different sets, 2 sets of which I have completed.
What keeps me loot farming? Simple really. Because I havent looked at the associated Set Bonuses for completing sets from websites, I have no idea what they might be, and the only way to find out is to keep farming.
What sucked with WoW (and subsequently WAR) was that you knew exactly what your set bonus was going to be after you found the very first part, and though completely off topic, considering how much those bonuses sucked arse, you were way less inclined to keep farming for the rest of the set. Atleast I was.
Please, use Diablo 2's system, and keep the set bonuses hidden until you find more relevent set pieces.
Or have truly hidden bonuses. Bonuses for using certain items with the same lore. No numbers or descriptions on the item just a boost to stats or skills.

Lets take it a step further and hide the items themselves.
You'll see an empty slot but in reality - you'll have something there.
You won't know what this something is or how good is it but... it'll be hidden, so, that's fun... right?
Oooh... and we can have an invisible character. Not only to the monsters ofcourse but to you as well.
You'll click randomly on the screen and hear sounds of footsteps from the speakers.
Also, to intensify the experience try playing with your eyes closed, so you won't know which buttons you are pressing.
We'll cal it - the hidden keyboard/mouse mode.
I forsee a fun game indeed (without seeing it)

Personally, I'd rather see the set bonus on the gear rather than find a random piece of gear and have to go to the web to see if it's worth keeping or not.

I think i'd prefer to know if the set sucked or was useless to my build prior to spending all that time farming the complete set of items... otherwise I'd probably be more inclined to spend that time trying to find an item I knew would benefit my character in some way... rather than search for something that may or may not be worth a crap
The first two ideas os this thread is absolutly insane.
The game must give us all the info we need. And set drop rates should be about the same of rares. And they should be all concentrated at small level range, like D2 were around 80% of the sets were only usefull in lvl40-.
In Diablo 2 everything that was related to your inventory and the items, was simply perfect... Thats why, i think, alot of people are afraid that blizz will change something that will ruin what the fans actually want...
I want Not to see the set bonuses, i want it to stay as it is in diablo 2, a set item will show his stats only, with a list of the other parts...
did you find the amazons really cool set items? Gosh i would be willing to sell anything for those... mavina's set items! private message me if you do
I have only mavina's gloves, sry, i can't give you those because i only play singleplay.
And when said 90% set were useless, the other 10% is the high sets (mavina's, IK, TR, TG) wich is very good until you get high unics or rune words (or even those super insane rares). Actually those sets are good enough to beat Hell.
I just want to low level sets, like Angelic and Artic, to be easier to find, because a ordinary magic gear of higher level is better then those low level sets, so try to complete those low level sets are totally waste of time. I think sets should be easier to drop then unics.. maybe about the same difficult of rares. This way you could complete a low level set before you get half decent level and the set become totally obsolete.

huh?
I'm a diablo fan but I want it mostly different than in d2.
Everything that is being hidden from us you must go and dig up from some forums or official website.. whats the point in that when you can see it straight in game.
For true RP people they maybe could make it so that you could interact with NPC that would tell everything about everything But that would take away from the main point of the game.. fast paced action RPG..
Heh, I'm the exact same way, I love collecting pieces of sets to find out what they do ^^.
I really hope they stick with the D2 style, if we get the set bonuses revealed it will take so much of the fun out of trying to find them.

Unnecessary, and quite frankly, it just isnt funny.

I'll try to entertain you better next time
