I estimate that I spent about 1 month playing the 1.09 patch and about half a year with the two latest patches. I dont anymore because so much cheats. I can't be sure of the previous patches but the lastest patches we know there are so many bots/ cheats...
So...let's discuss this...
What are your thoughts on how we should deal with the people who cheat, the cheat itself, and what does Blizzard do, or should do about it.
My thoughts:
Why does Blizzard wait a certain time to "blacklist" users who cheat before banning their account/Cd-Keys? That is what I've read around the net, but why not use a faster banning method? I mean....it's so easy to find most of the cheats via a simple search. It seems since the cheats are easily available, it'd make them easy to detect, then shouldn't this lead to fast banning...? Waiting allows for bot gained items to be transfer/trade to legit character accounts, which makes the wait time ineffective in my opinion.
I've seen bots that are around a lot (weeks or even month old?)...This is why I only played the new ladder seasons once each time a new patch was introduced... It's fun at the new ladder seasons because there is very few item hunting bots. The fun factor is gone for me when I play for a couple weeks and I already have most of the game's best items (I'd say I have 80-95% of every powerful legit items every player wanted).
I never played World of Warcraft so I dont know how cheats are dealt with in that game.
Well I can agree that cheats need to go in D3. But I can also tell you I was banned 3 times in WoW. However all 3 times my account wasn't even active. So blizz makes mistakes. If my account had been active it would have been hard to argue I was not using cheats. Since D3 accounts will always be active it could turn out to be a bad scene. Lets hope not.

"Not Even Death Can Save You From Me" ~ Diablo (II)
Cheats, bots, exploits, and other stuff will probably be kept to a minimum this time around at least for a few years. As the game ages tho I expect it to end up having tons of hacks and cheats going undetected for long periods of time...just like D2 has been for years now lol

Nah don't think so.. As bashiok said "this game is not being developed in the 90s". So yeah they are desigining the game so much cheat proof that it will be hard to figure out any holes. Some holes will be found but when they are probably smaller ones they are easy to fix wihout needing to desging the game all over again.
I think Blizzard should send death-squads armed with meat hooks and machetes to the house of cheaters to punish the bastar... uhm... I mean... they should ban them.

I only fear bot in D3, because those are very hard or sometimes impossible to control.
I hope they can deal with bots to a point that only the reckless uses it and get banned sooner or later. Really, i hate games were the top players use cheats, it sounds ame and i end but going back to singleplayer.
The bots so much do not bother me as much as the duping that was going on. That ruined the games currency. Blizzard has stated that this time around it will be different and i am with all you guys. I would like to see a clean game. I turst Blizzard to make a game that will be extremly difficult to hack and to keep the currency protected.
I never had a huge problem with mf bots. I know the gave an unfair advantage but if they have to focus on one thing over another please make sure even the cleverest of players can't dupe. Spam bots also sucked hardcore.
For those who play WoW, it wasnt developed in the mid 90s either but spamming and all that has only gotten worse. It will be even harder to deal with in D3 because item sites only have to get new cd keys every time they get banned.
I am at least confident that hacking within the game will be under control.

You're right it was a bad example. You've never been banned therefore it doesn't happen. //QED
