I was looking through the artwork for d3 and came across this picture. It looks like its a port city on an island. Just wondering what this means for how characters will get around in d3. Will there be boats, will you simply talk to someone to take you from a city like this to the nearby playing area? (Like how you got from act 2 to act 3 in d2)
Just trying to see what everyone thinks, or if someone has heard something.

Whoe'er don't awree with sailin' and fightin' can walk the plank for all I care.
In that cursed "Black Road" book there be tales concernin' the corsair scallywagers of Diablo's old.
To all you landlubbers, pirate-hatin' scurvy dogs- I'll hoist ye on the Jolly Roger!
Yaaarghhh!!

The Barbarian is from Arreat, a very cold snowy mountain top, but they are much tougher than normal humans, so they don't need warmth.

Where are Barbarians originally from? Sumeria, or more specifically Mesopotamia, AKA Europe. Think the Alps and the Pyrenees
I had no idea it was the Amazon island, I had already heard you wouldn't travel there. But it makes sense that this would be the amazon island.... I didn't miss a title or something equally obvious that states this is it, did I?
And assuming they do have something like the long distance travel in this game, it had better be like d2... Zeppelins/boats in wow are nothing but a waste of time, and don't get me started on the flight paths...

They revealed it at Blizzcon 08 I believe. If you watch the lore panel videos, they show that slide and say that it is Skovos (or something), the Amazon Island.

it would be lame to be able to walk around the boat....its like u being in malahs room and running around with no purpose but wasting time instead
My thoughts exactly... worse still is talking to someone and loosing complete control of your char while watching him ride it, or being forced to watch a cut scene (unless you can skip it, that wouldn't be terrible)

I think its almost 100% certainty that we will travel via boat at some point. That would be by far the easiest way to get from Tristram to Caldeum

CyberPunk RP Nexus
Pirate class, FTL.
I'd do Num3n vs Art Style rage on Blizzard if they announced a Pirate class.
CyberPunk RP Nexus
I guess they'll have to save the Pirate for the MMO
Aye, cap'n. I agree with ye.
But I'm Captain Jack Sparrow ... savy?
CyberPunk RP Nexus
It was a fine idea for a game like Zelda, fit the theme, but Diablo.... No....
Just no....
Oh god no....
If Blizzard cares at all...they won't do that to us...

I miss all that.
I think it would be cool if one could walk between two separate cities, though. Make the various parts of the world feel more connected.

I believe skovos may make an appearance in the expansion?
