The second letter's lowercase cursive looks like the one at the top. Some of the other symbols look like upside down letters. I dont know but it's the closest thing I've found. Maybe they are just there to confuse.
Not sure if it's relevent or not, but there seam to be a date at the top of the picture in roman number, it says: AD.C.VL or 145AD. I havent read any of the books, but I know that actual dates are a rare thing, so it may not mean anything, but tI thought it was an interesting thing to note.
The map idea might not be so far fetched. On the final two pages of the journal you see a concept of ureh and then under the seal tristram.

"Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration. That we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves. Here's Tom with the weather."
Atrumentis: Just Becuase you know these things, does not mean (I) or the other members of this forum do...
The question (is this image even from Blizzard?) has arose many times in this thread, and many people do not even realize this image lies within the main Diablo III title.... (which is something that is easy to miss) Ill say it again, scroll up to the top of the page and inspect the Diablo III banner closely....
Please excuse me while I try and get (myself) and the rest of the people who do not know this, up to speed, as I and many others did not have a chance to read the other thread....
and since no one was kind/ambitious enough to post a link directing me to it.. I guess I am going to have to figure this stuff out at my own pace, since I could not find this thread with any of the searches I did.
Please feel free to enlighten me, by directing me to the original thread.... if not, please do not comment! Thank you.
(I am going to try and crack this ting today, who is with me?)
anyways, the diablo image to me seems to represent the layers of heaven/hell.

Agreed, but since I have asked (several times) to view this thread, and no one seems to know where it is or is kind/ambitious enough to direct me there, and since I cannot find it on my own (I have tried) I feel someone telling me (it's in the other thread) is completely useless!
Show me this thread PLZ someone! (this is the last time I will ask)
The mysterious teaching of Boehme about the Ungrund, about the abyss, without foundation, dark and irrational, prior to being, is an attempt to provide and answer to the basic question of all questions, the question concerning the origin of the world and of the arising of evil. The whole teaching of Boehme about the Ungrund is so interwoven with the teaching concerning freedom, that it is impossible to separate them, for this is all part and parcel of the same teaching. And I am inclined to interpret the Ungrund, as a primordial meonic freedom, indeterminate even by God.We tend to see that the teaching of Boehme concerning the Ungrund is not distinguished by any clarity of precision, such as is characteristic to a concept. But such a demand would be improper in approaching it, there cannot be such a precision in concept concerning the Ungrund and being, this is an area situated at the very limits of rational concepts. In what regard do the teachings of Boehme come nigh to that of the traditional rational theology, which has the desire to know nothing corresponding to the Ungrund? I have always tended to think, that the theodicy, worked out by the prevailing systems of rational theology, only but transforms the relationship between God and the world into a comedy, into a mere play of God with Himself, and it reflects upon the ancient slavery of man, his being crushed down into cowering fear.
Ungrund, the groundless will lies within the depths of the Divinity, and prior to the Divinity. The Ungrund is also the Divinity of apophatic theology and is together with this an abyss, a free Nothing deeper than God and outside God
Ungrund = abyss
The fire -- is the origin of everything, without fire there would be nothing, only the Ungrund would be
Interesting enough, the author : Boehme, speaks german
I think the tom and tab refer to a book from Boehme, maybe ;O
Wow, that thread was not nearly as informative as it thought it would be..
Although I wish I would have seen it yesterday, it would have saved me like ten, needless posts.
This is my theory,
In the time this game was set in, there really is no useful technology, and would be similar to a time (when Greek astronomers / mathematics) were the only means of mapping the stars. (which is why it appears to be very similar to early Greek map's of our solar system.)
To me, I definitely think If I were living in the sanctuary, or if I was Deckard Cain, I would want to know where this meteorite/fireball came from, and why it was sent.
Is it possible that the Heavens/Tyreal have become corrupted in some way? I think so.
Angry and damned souls
The daring
The criminals
The fire that only brings evil and misfortune
The powers that rule the sky
The wizards ( : high priests : )
The avengers of criminals
The feared of evil
Terrifying darkness
To me this describes the Diablo 3 storyline perfectly. I'm sure whatever caused this fireball to unleash hell once again is the reason this image exists, maybe it is a map to serve as a the final quest, I sure as hell would wonder why "heaven" sent something to unleash hell once more if I were alive in the sanctuary. This would also support my theory of a portion of Heaven becoming corrupted. It also opens the door, to evil outside the Sanctuary, an evil force, greater than anything in the sanctuary, which lies somewhere in the skies.
Maybe instead of Diablo or Baal being the final boss, You will have to travel to another world (outside of the Sanctuary) (possibly Heaven) to cleanse it of any corrupt beings, to ensure something like this does not happen again.
This image, I think is of extreme importance to the game, and the storyline (the game storyline) itself.
I really do hope if no one is able to decipher what this image it means, that they (Blizzard) will explain it to us, because it is in fact driving me nuts right now.
Right now my theory is, it is a map of the Diablo universe, (agree with Murderface), plotting the trajectory of the path the (meteorite) took to get to the sanctuary. I really don't think they would put it (this image) within the main title, if it was not of great importance.
systema des j?ngsten gerichts means something like doomsday system
Someone on a french website translated it to something like this :
(from french to english)
Born in the heart of darkness,
By that doomsday will come,
Source of evil and cursed,
it is the tempter,
it is defamation
one who is born anger, pain and evil,
one that seeks to dominate which can not be dominated
it is the handler,
it is the lord of evil,
Prince of perfidy,
Like a seed of cruel darkness.
