Considering I can level 1-70 solo in 2hrs and 25min with a WD, that is likely the path I am going to start.
On PTR I am doing TX rifts with Zuni-Chicken in around 2min 55sec, which is really not that bad at all for a starter set, which is the 4th strongest set for the class behind HT-Pet, Jade, and LoN.
As I go through the season (maybe like paragon 600-800) I plan on swapping over to Barb and compiling a thorns LoN set because it looks really fun, and have not had the ambition to collect the pieces on PTR. Between pushing WD and collecting LoN Barb pieces I should have enough to do for most of the season to keep me busy.
WD! There may be classes that are faster, but very few which are both so fast and so easy. I much prefer the smooth speed of WD to the jittery dashing of Monk, DH, and Wiz, and Barb Crusader tend to have much slower startups and melee annoys me.
For solo levelling 1-70, learn how to chain Haunt in Fields of Misery. 700+ kill combos give nice bonuses~

I don't know what "the best" or "the fastest" method to levelling is (also rifts provide different benefits too.) But it's easy for lazy people who want decent exp without too much effort (just don't let the haunts escape.)

Basically just chain kill with haunt as has been discussed. IF you want solo 1-70 ASAP, then yes, it is much faster. Is it "better" I am not sure because better is a subjective term, it really depends on your goals. With my level style, you will have enough mats, might miss out on 2-3 legendary items others would potentially get rifting 1-70, and will be lower in gold. But you can level as fast if not faster than some groups are going to hit 70 if you practice often!

I think Monk wins for the fastest class to T6. Quin made an excellent guide:

I've been playing Monk the past couple of seasons though so I'm not sure if I'll start with Monk in S6. I may go with some variation of thorns Sader:

I really like the concept and I built one late in S5 that worked pretty good...
Barb FTW
