Somehow, I think the next character class that will be announced at Blizzcon 2008 will be awesome. Think about it; why would Blizzard even consider creating a class that they expect people will hate.
I think that they are trying to downplay hype so when people see the next class, they will be like "wow, that's better than I expected."
However, I do not agree with their tact of downplay. That's just not the way we do things. That's like telling your teacher "my essay sucks because ____" in order to get a better grade.
Do you agree with me, or do you have an alternative theory?

What is normal? Normal is a concept that everyone or a majority of people are the same or similar. However, we know that everyone is unique. If everyone is unique, then everyone is different. If everyone is different, then everyone is weird. If everyone is weird, then everyone is normal.
i dont think theyll be anouceing anything big at blizzcon. maybe a few small things like a new part of the map and some new monsters but i doubt that they will relese a new character class.

Keeping it lowkey is better than overhyping...if they said "This new class will blow you away, best class ever." It wouldn't meet expectations aka letdown. They never said the new class isn't good though, they haven't said anything about it, as it should be.

It'd be stupid of them to not give anything big at Blizzcon. Its a convention specifically to show their big announcements. Its like showing a new car at a car show and not disclosing its specs until after when not as many people are watching.
Blizzard will take full advantage of the publicity. And people all around the world are paying close attention. Not to mention there's a PPV. They will give us what we want and more, because that is simply what they do. To not disclose anything big at Blizzcon would be a waste of promotion, spotlight, and will leave us feeling empty, which will tarnish their record for being absolutely excellent and gods when it comes to doing what they do. They know better than to turn Blizzcon into another E3.
I'll go out on a limb and say Blizzard is the best game company that exists and has ever existed. They go out and beyond to bring their fans something that will blow them away. They've set the standards and keep raising them for the entire gaming industry.
/kissing Blizzard's ass.
As for the next class, I think it'll be a holy warrior. Paladin, Crusader, whatever they call him. But there has to be a Light wielding warrior in the game.
Wilson already mentioned that "the fans will hate us for the next class, because it also appears similar to one older class". I cant wait for it anyway
I mean, they said brand new classes would be revealed and not re-vamped old classes. I do agree that a Light character fits in the realm of Diablo, but to me, it would seem like a re-vamped Paladin with a new name? They somehow pulled it off with the Witch Doctor because although there are some similarities to the Necromancer, I do feel it's a brand new class.
They got one new class down, but can they go 4 for 4 (new classes)?
hm don't know if itll be at blizzcon or what but that's what everyones assuming. i remember in an interview that i read(i believe it was jay) and said that he doesnt want to steal their thunder with an announcement.

Assuming that Blizz does a kick ass job like usual, I can see 2 reasons for why people would hate a new class
1) Because Blizz didn't showcase the coolest aspect of that class leaving the best for ourselves to discover
It will be the George Bush class. He can inspire blind leadership using his WMD chant.

I love paladins. I'm all for a class that can fight and cast as well. Paladins are the closest to that. As long as we get a fighter/caster I'm all game.
hmm. about the guns. it is already confirm that there will be no guns. the guns thing is just a joke.
Jay Wilson said the next class that is unveiled will make Diablo fans very angry. What would make 99.9% of the Diablo 3 fan base so angry? That's right....GUNS in D3! Diablo 3 will be adding Guns as a new droped items in Diablo 3. Now not like AK-47's and what not, but Muskets and gun powder loaded guns. Hand cannons and such. Yes ladies and gentlemen they WILL be added into D3 and there WILL be a class that will use mainly that! Heck, since Blizzard is going to be adding GUNS into D3 they might as well convience the team behind God Of War to add GUNS into that game aswell.... LOL!!!! But don't stop there! Lets put GUNNS in the movie TROY and 300!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!
Yes it's all a rumor, but if you google it there is a HUGE and reliable source that says Diablo 3 will have guns.....LOL What a joke!
yes thats what you guys are saying now.
Bashiok:
Well, you have to realize that it's been 20 years, and in technological terms that can be a very long time. We're trying to create a world that's not static, its filled out, and with that it's an advancing world. With that amount of time, and also the loss of the Arreat Summit much of the remaining barbarian culture has focused on... nah I'm just kidding, there aren't any guns.
KIDDING! understand? no guns. final. and i think the next character that comes out will be an aura character like paladin in d2
There should be at least 5 classes in the game, which means that they still have plenty to keep secret.
I think that Blizzard knows how to keep the community in anticipation. We'll see a new class.

I hate to tell you this, friends and neighbors, but we are teensy-weensy implications in an enormous implication. If you don't like it here, why don't you go back to where you came from?

Its obvious what the next 3 chars will be..a 'reimagination' of the
Sorc
Rogue
Paladin
Of course they will have different aliases, but the general themes will be the same.
I think the classes people are expecting to change are the warrior type classes, the magic type, and the archer type. The only real classes that could be a disappointment for their old fans are Necro and Paladin... and since they already disappointed the Necro fans... I think this will be a holy warrior. Only class that makes sense.

Or a ninja who are very similar to the assassin.

Ninjas?
It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
