“There’s no going back now,” he said during an interview in a Manhattan hotel where Blizzard was showcasing their newest games. “We’re very happy with how the art style is. The art team’s happy. The company’s happy. We really like this art style, and we’re not changing it.”-- said Jay Wilson, Diablo III Lead Designer.
J/k yeah I wish it were darker but hey it still doesn't look stupid, I still see Diablo in it And since the day it was announced all I've been trying to figure out was how to budget my 16 year old high school student income into a new PC for Diablo 3, lol.
anyone seen the new egm? they have a d3 article. pretty gg.

It's time for us as a people to start makin' some changes.

Ah so we finally get something official. Guess we can squash that whole debate now. Good for Blizzard I'm glad that they are standing up for their hard work and artistic choices. I trust them 100% and know that what they give us will be as close to perfection as possible...I just can't wait to see all the new things in store for us.
GFG, Awesome! I'm so happy that they are sticking to their guns and staying with their chosen art direction. I loved the atmosphere, look, and feel of the gameplay trailer so much. GGNORE!
Yea, I dont think we should be picky about the color of the game unless it was like hot pink or something... The game will and already is amazing, so what is the big deal? Good choice Blizzard!
So pretty much they are just going to say: screw the fans. we're going to make it the very best and ignore 52,000 fans.
If they can just look pass their ego, maybe they can figure out what exactly ticks some fans off.
Personally, I thought the art direction could use work. Not necessarily saying the coloring is wrong. There's a variety of factors that makes the game lose its thematic appearance.
the big deal is loyal diablo fans want this game to be the very best. it looks cool. yeah. but it looks just as cool as wow or warhammer. giving feedback is good for any game in development. but it seems the new people working on diablo wont explore that. their new philosophy is just going revolve around happy
What I love is how some people claim that Blizzard only cares about making money and reaching a "target audience" and basically makes games based on what the majority will like, and then in the same breath they'll say "Blizz just told the majority of Diablo fans F U!!!!".
Which is it? Are they obsessed with making money and pleasing everyone or are they telling everyone to fuck off?
I know someone will chime in and say that D3 is targeted at WoW players and other nonsense, but I think if Blizz wanted to make money we'd have Warcraft part 8 right now, Starcraft part 7, and Diablo 6 in our hands.
I think the people who signed the petition didn't know that what they were calling for would actually make the game bad. I know in their minds they saw a perfect vision, according to their standards, but in the end Blizzard has some highly talented people expanding the Diablo world and you can either cry about it or sit back and enjoy it.
What about the neon lights in the dungeons and the statues that look cute, and the huge shoulder pads, i didnt mind the colors but i liked the light radius and i dont like the huge armour, and the statues.
The specifics on the petition description is not entirely right but the main message from this is that fans saw something they were dissatisfied with and wanted it to be different. Whatever that is, not many people knew exactly. But there is something definitely awkward if such a great number of fans signed the petition.
This big "F U" in the face really staggered my opinion on this game. It seems I personally won't be as hopeful as I was so good for them and have fun making the game.
You forgot that everyone nowadays have more than 2 email addresses and online petitions have no real value to them because they have no checks for duplicates. If anyone told me they signed it once i'd call that bullshit.
You didn't read the article did you? DID YOU?
I knew it.
Because if you did, you'd know that they originally designed it to be dark, and it didn't work. But maybe you wouldn't know.
Still, these people HAD it WORKING that way, AND IT WAS SO UGLY THAT THEY HAD TO CHANGE IT ( ok not ugly, merely unplayable)
That's what you, [insert random art protester nickname here], have to realise. If it was just a minor issue, why would they change the art direction to what it is now, knowing (ofcourse they knew) that they would face ALOT of angry fans.
I read the article and cant find much relevance to what you're saying to what I said.

I'm just glad we finally got an official answer, so lets all move on, and focus on more important things.
Like classes, spells, monsters, the storyline, and actual game play.

Cant wait until 10-11 aug for the next announces about D3!!

I'm relieved that Blizzard doesn't bend to whining emos and doesn't care for mainstream. They have proven to be the greatest company in the industry.

In the bigger picture, they MIGHT lose a thousand or two potential buyers. That's peanuts.
I'm glad they aren't selling out and are sticking to their guns.
