Perhaps they will have life leech but they'll keep it more controlled - instead of having to reduce it's effectiveness on every difficulty level, you could only get leech on weapons. Otherwise because of potion timers too much leech would probably make you too powerful compared to the other players.
I doubt blizzard would get rid of it, it's a memorable feature from both Diablo games. But maybe Blizz will limit it's effectiveness by lowering the %, or having a chance to leach instead of each hit.

For me, I think it will go away. Remember, Life leech is pretty much replaced by Health Orbs, and that the Barb class has absolutely no use for mana leech (they use furry instead of mana). Obviously mana leech will only be useful to the melee or bow and arrow type classes that use mana, but I think a lot of the mana bars will be replaced in D3. I doubt the range type characters will use mana, probably something similar to fury. So mana leech would only be useful to a few classes, yet not to caster classes though.....
If I remember correct you could get Life leech on rings as well! possibly other items. Stacked up, a leecher could become virtually unstoppable in pve!
Yes, I may have structured my sentence badly but I was saying that maybe they'll limit the Leech modifier to weapons only.
Maybe they'll have a maximum limit of how much you can lifesteal...
Maybe they will get rid of mana-steal? And keep Vulpines?
In one of the interviews I watched on youtube during the days of the D3 announcement, the D3 developer mentioned they want to make diablo 3 have a very little downtime or no downtime at all, unlike WoW. Daiblo 2 with good life/mana leech made this possible. Hope they keep the gameplay fast, whether there is life leech or not
I think that maybe it would be cool if they give the casters a way to leech mana with their spells (maybe making Regenerating Mana After Each Kill more important), particularly now that potions are a lot less important than before.

But perhaps they were talking about the health orbs - health orbs would make more sense than allowing players to accumulate a high amount of leech, since that would be unfair to those who do not gear themselves with leech (it would suck if everyone HAD to get life leech), or have less leech. So Health Orbs would be better

That's what Warmth is for... but I don't know what the WD will use.. perhaps he will be able to suck the mana out of opponents...
I don't think that just because the barb doesn't use mana there won't be mana leech... I think it just means he won't be reliant on looking for some as a stat...
Although TBH as an old school multishot zon or WW barb you needed like 1% mana leech and you were set.
Life leech will be a given...
I hope they have something to replace to backup mana per kill that... doesn't require kills, cause on long boss fights, mana will suck for casters.

"If we're actually making the game worse with no other reason than to be different from WoW, then it's a bad choice." - Jay Wilson (D3 lead designer)
Life leech or mana leech available in diablo 3? Or are they replacing life leech with health orbs?
Good question.
They have potions in the game with (cooldowns) Or so I've heard.
They also have health orbs and //(possibly) mana orbs.
Is there room now still for leech? Hmm... based on potions + orbs this time around it kind of shakes my foundation of believing there will be leech this time around.
For me though, I would want leech to stay in the game.
Its just one more cool feature to add to items and make your character awesome. Diablo was never about healing class's, only DPS. So with leech it was very nice to be able to actually heal yourself without using potions by actually killing monsters and staying in the action and not relying on someone else to heal you. However they claim that health orbs will do this as well. So I am pretty concerned about it making its way into diablo 3. But I have to say, I would be very sad if there was no leech in diablo 3, it would just be one more cool thing that they take away. It was a big part of PVP as well for me.

If you get personally attacked by letters through the internet its a good thing to always have a box of tissues and a band-aid around.
Orbs will only drop every so often to replenish some life. Life leech will act on every single monster that you hit. There are very two distinct differences between the two.
I think we will see life/mana leech come back, but it won't be as powerful as it was in Diablo 2 and just because they may have more than 1 type of energy pool doesn't mean there won't be some type of mana leech.

Same thing for life leech. I think they will bring it back.

I believe Blizzard said that orbs were to reduce the need for pot spamming. I think maybe they will timer potions and make their effect much larger.
Rejuvenation orbs anyone? God that would be nice.
