Perhaps is they made health orbs look more like those burning souls (but smaller obviously and completely red) which floated around for a while or something, just to make the game look less arcadey.
And they could still have just one belt row, where each person has 1 health potions, 1 mana potion, 1 antidote, 1 thawing potion etc.. and each time a player used one of these potions, they had to wait a while for the potion to 'recharge' before using it again (say a minute or so). This would stop the potion spamming too.
theyre usin health orbs to makin fighting way funner.... instead of being invincible ( pot spammin) you actually die, and have to try to survive, so u use ur other skills like leap...
I don't mind the health globe idea, but instead of health globes why not just make them be health potions. Basically all I'm saying is change the graphic and name but have it do the exact same thing. It would be more consistent with the previous games that way.
Yeah, I agree; this is what I've said before. They're just reskinning potions. Before, you'd run low on potions, so you had to kill unique monsters and such to get more- same thing with health orbs. The only actual difference now is that orbs can't be stored like potions.

Not even Death will save you from Diablo Bunny's Cuteness!
I see that you are one of these geeks with so much posts....and you know everything about the game. Your mother must be proud... And still - health orbs looks like UFO, I was talking about looks and design of that detail. It feels arcadic. You dont have to study this one game and attack people on the internet or argue, there's a thing outside your room - IT IS CALLED WORLD. So have a beer and take it easy man.
hahaaha i like this tristan guy.. i feel the same way. well wat can you do..
why do ppl want a system that was used in a 10 yr old game??

Rules this violates:
No flaming (including: racial/sexual/religious/medical slurs)
"Flaming" basically means "insulting". So, posting something insulting directed at another member or group of members is a no-no.
No trolling
Trolling basically means "posting a controversial point of view with the only intent of causing an argument", in this case a good example would be someone going along to one of the forums and posting something like "this site sucks!" - It is not only unproductive but is also likely to start an argument. This is also includes the intentional creation of a topic that will invoke an argument simply for the sake of conflict.
Discussion is encouraged - blatant arguing is not
If you're going to get heated about an issue, be sure to remain polite and civil. If it turns into a bashing war or flame fest, the topic will be locked and those involved may be subject to punishment. Keep it clean and respectful of those involved, please.
Do not discuss moderation or administration in a thread.
If you have an issue with something a mod or admin has done, do not discuss it in a thread for discussing a game or games, or anything that does not pertain to moderation or administration specifically. Please send the Moderator or Administrator in question a PM or email.

wow this is this 4th health globe/potion thread eh... cant mods like take this whole thread and attach it to an existing thread? combine all threads discussin potion/health orbs into 1 huge thread??
Potions were horrible. Remember when you would die and all of your stupid pots fell on the ground or went into your inventory? Then you had to pick them up and drop them on your belt 16 times! Bah! fucking annoying! Running over a health orb will be a welcome change IMO, nostagia is useless if it only detriments the gameplay. BLEH!
The whole idea of the health orbs is to reduce the time needed by a player to stop, drink a potion and let it heal over time. The idea is that a player will continue to head into the fray, killing monster after monster in each area, also in the hope of more orbs dropping. The whole point is to keep the player moving and killing. The orbs affect all players in a party, it gives new meaning to a barb at the front line cutting through enemies.
Potions are just stupid the way they were in diablo 2, no time needed to drink the potion, not even a player interaction with the potion, just a 1-2-3-4 spam on the keyboard.
I totally agree. Orbs are so...confusing. What they are? And why are they levitating? Of what material are they made? If they could look like a potion... Then it makes sense, but they should look different from inventory potions. Levitating orbs are so arcadish, like those levitating coins or diamonds....you know! And btw I agree with new graphic design, new class, colors....but these orbs - at least they could look logical, d3 is not a pacman or rayman.
I'm concerned you may have misinterpreted what I was saying. What I meant was, the actual look of a health orb on the ground isn't that different from the look of a healing potion on the ground. So aesthetically, there isn't much difference and hence it makes little difference to me.
Health orbs allow me to keep playing and using my multiple abilities. They are basically a potion I would have used anyway minus the hassle. They also won't clog up my inventory.
I can't wait to see how it translates into gameplay.
The game is going to be challenging in PvP that's for sure if there aren't health potions to be popped. I rarely do PvP but the only ones I lost were the ones where I slipped up with my mana/health potions and didn't TP in time to get some more.
Same with Diablo and Baal.
And very much so with the waves of Baal's little army prior to his departing from his throne to go check up on his worldstone.
When you think about it - the balance of a battle is in your ability to manage your health/mana potions.
That can't be a good thing.
Like most people, I resist change but this one is for the better. I'd better improve my game play between now and D3!

So we've got over the problem of colour in D3. Great. Now let's argue about everything else not yet set in stone and help make this game simply great! Game on.

It could've fit under these threads: http://www.diablofans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13392, http://www.diablofans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14067, and http://www.diablofans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13967.
i disagree with health globe concept.
why not just have killing certain monsters just automatically heal the player.
have that monster a different color than the rest.
that would make MUCH more sense to me.
