This just occured to me. I don't think the cinematic trailer is going to be the one that is played when you start up the game. The reason being, that when you watch the trailer, it has a lot of fragmented scenes, and not very clear explanation of the story.
I'm wishfully suspecting that Blizzard made that cinematic as a sort of teaser, trying not to reveal much about the story. When they release the game, maybe it will be a more linear, explanatory, version.. possibly telling the story of what in the world is happening.
It may be a trailer, but the correct work would be Teaser. Some aspects seen in that movie may not appear in the game.
There was a trailer (or teaser) for Diablo II, in which the wanderer road in a caravan and threw the soulstone away. This is contrary to many scenes in Diablo II in which the wanderer still has the soulstone in his forehead.
As you can from various shots in the actually cinematics in the game, the Wanderer still has the soulstone. Thus the initial cinematic for Diablo II is not official lore. It's just a teaser.
I would imagine part of this cinematic are the same.
Leah was mentioned in the gameplay trailer as well so she is probably in D3, but the comet may not be for example.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.

What do you guys think?
Uh, yeah, it's a trailer. None of the D2 trailers was the intro either.
People are far too quick to assume that what they see is what they get.
A classic example is the gameplay trailer. Blizzard explicitly said they edited portions of it to better show aspects of the game. Skills, how they work, armor, using the environment to damage enemies, etc.
Part of what they cinematic trailer is showing you is Blizzard's skills at computer generated imagery.

I'm sure some people think, despite the narrator's assertion that entire sets of armor do not come out of chests, that entire sets of armor, do in fact come out of chests.

I think I saw a post about this Also numerous posts about monsters dying too easy.. puuh
wow Elfin, that was interesting. the Alpha version of Diablo II was waaaaaay different than the final product. and I'm sure it will be the same for Diablo III.
To the OP, a cinematic trailer has never been the opening trailer in any of the Blizzard games. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't even be surprised if that 3 mouthed Dragon thing wasn't even in the game.
I though the cinematic trailer was really awful, it looked too much like the opening scene in Lord of the Rings. Even the narrator voice reminded me of that movie.
I'm sorry LarryNC, but if this was a glimpse of the final cinematics then you are completely wrong.
you are clearly not a fan of the Diablo series and you are trolling all over the threads, some one should just ban you.

I agree. He's trolled back and forth through a few threads from "Witch Doctors should be Fetishes" to "Playing a female character can make you homosexual!".
You can't just DECIDE someone is wrong about liking a cinematic teaser.
I would consider myself a "fan" of the Diablo series, however I am not a fan of Lord of the Rings. Obviously people should be banned for not agreeing with your point of view.
You should be banned for bashing on people's opinions, trolling, and flaming.
I'm surprised someone hasn't already done so by now.

Watching 240 guys talk trash about cavaliers is like two retards having a slapfight over a sippy cup.
He's talking about the cinematic not the gameplay.
Yeah I don't think that will be the opening cinematic. It will have more of a story to it. Like the D2 opening one.
My bad, I read it as something else at the time of posting that.

I saw nothing that resembled Lord of the Rings.
Maybe you should learn that your opinions aren't the end all of a conversation.
Also, you're a bad troll.
