i think hes dead, i mean we went back to hell to kill him in his own chamber... than again blizzards gonna make some weird story that figures how he comes back.
you do realize that when we kill a boss in Diablo/D2 within sanctuary, he is not killed, but sent to "The abyss"
Diablo shall never die!!!!!! Maybe he can be sealed or something. but I won't accept the possibility of him ever dieing.

I know I'm most likely just reitterating what several others have already mentioned, but Diablo is not dead. Neither are Mephisto or Baal. Or any other demon we killed in the series.
The purpose of the worldstone was to keep the denizens of Hell and Heaven out of the mortal plane. With the worldstone, a balance was created. However, the demons were able to bind themselves to objects, or even people, and cross over to the realm of mortals. Whenever the demons did so, the balance was upset, and a champion of the light would emerge to restore the balance.
Because of the soulstones that bound Diablo and his brothers to our world, they needed only hosts for which to exort their influence and gain physical manifestation in the world. Everytime the Prime Evils were killed, they were returned to their soulstones (Instead of being returned to the Abyss, as others have mentioned.).
When the hero destroys Mephistos and Diablos soulstone in the game, he's essentially cutting them off from returning to the mortal world.
Now, with the worldstone gone, there exists no more walls between Hell and the Mortal plane, and thus, Diablo and his brothers are able to travel between them at will. But the same applies to the Angels of Heaven.
ANYWAYS... We know that Diablo and his brothers were initally casted out of hell by the 4 Lesser evils (Andariel, Duriel, Azmodan, and Belial). Eventually, Andariel and Duriel realligned themselves with the Prime Evils, and control over Hell was left to be fought over by Azmodan and Belial, and thus a civil war broke out in hell.
(Speculation, from here on) I'm thinking when Diablo and his brothers returned from the Abyss, they regained control over Hell. I know, you might think it sucks, but we may have to face Diablo once again. And in Diablo 4? Yeah. We'll probably fight him again.
Unfortunately, the demons are immortal (For the most part) and the only way to get rid of them for good, is by binding them and sealing them away, and ensuring that they cannot exort their influence anywhere in the world.
As for Lucifer being introduced - Not to likely, I'm afraid. Inarius, an already introduced angels, is already quite similar to Lucifer.

Like, and i want to make something clear. They aren't saying that diablo isn't dead because he survived the battle or something like that, it means that that particular physical form is dead. Throghout lore it is clear that when a prime evil takes over a body it does not become the body. Its like an exorcism, the demon doesnt die when the host does.

see that makes alot more sense to me, instead of actually being argumentive and just saying "He's not dead", you went into explination on why he isn't dead, thank you
as for the rest of you kiss my A** I still want a new baddy, I dont care if Diablo is there so long as he isn't the main focus.

That also.
Between the lore likeness of Inarius and the name likeness of Lucion, we will most certainly never see Lucifer.
and Daemaro, is right, there is no lucifer in Diablo.
lol true.
apparently you didn't read my first post when I said "Introduce" Lucifer as the lightbringer.
and Inarius has nothing to do with this post.

/facepalm
They don't just introduce super strong new angels.
Like I said. Inarius has a lot in common with Lucifer, vanity. Inarius took a portion of the angels and wanted to create his own world.
Lucion's name has too much in common with Lucifer's, I really doubt they'll add someone with such a similar mainstream name.
I'll help you out.

wouldnt be that hard to bring big D back...

Diablo 2 = Diablo as boss.
Diablo 2: lord of destruction = Baal as boss....
See where I'm going with this?
