Q: How long have you been working on Diablo 3?
A: It's been in dev for quite a number of years. We had it up at Blizzard North for a couple of years and it's been at Bliz South for a while. Probably about 4 overall. (Blizzard North closed in fall 2005, nearly 3 years before the WWI. It's known that preliminary work began on Diablo 3 back in 2000 and it was well underway by 2002, though almost all the work the Bliz North guys put in was thrown out when the project moved to Irvine and started virtually from scratch.)
I wander how was that work art direction went ... i bet it would had been way more gothic ...;)
If they have a game to seek boss-battle insipiration from, it's Zelda. It at least uses kinda similar mechanics and could be transformed into a Hack&Slash.
And people should learn to abstract from games' graphics and games' mechanics...
I think having the WoW perspective with regards to more scripted, alternate and interesting boss fights will help Diablo alot.
Their not saying their going to make all bosses 50ft tall, massive builds, cartoony graphics etc the mechanics and massive team working required to take down a boss in WoW would be great in Diablo!
I'd like to see some Contra-style bosses in Diablo 3. By that I mean bosses you can gradually take apart and disable in combat. But only if it would be a smooth battle, I mean.
Ty for the marketing lesson.
I were merely commenting on your demented logic that the only possible way to have a higher average of gamer age is to have more M-rated games. That was exactly what you said.
Don't go around calling people names.
Yeah I think thats a great idea, some of the art work shows huge mummified bodies in the grounds of some kind of temple. Would be interesting fighting against its two arms and its head as separate parts, so that if you destroyed one of its arms it would continue to fight with its remaining arm and head.
Theirs alot of things they could do with bosses, and by the looks of things their already thinking about what things their going to do. Really liked the monster that was constructed by the cultists. Even better how we get a small glimpse of the creature they encounter at the end of the game footage clip while going through the Cathedral (just before the you're told to be careful of the wall, can see the huge creature and its distinctive claws in the shadows! And people say the games way too colourful and doesn't have enough darkness and shadows!!)
Would love to get a playable demo even if it only lasted 20 minutes!
I hate how companies dangle the carrot in front of us only to keep moving it out of reach! Hopefully they will release some more information/game footage towards the end of the month, I'm sure monthly updates are not too much to ask for!
Notice how in that clip as the demon is summoned the color is just SUCKED out of the area.
Veritech, I've been much in contact with moderators and I am told they are growing increasingly intolerant of the bullshit like you've posted in here, and to report whatever I see fit since my judgments have been deemed fair.
Cool your fucking shit. As well, if you want to discuss age, an adult can respectfully and perceptively debate and discuss ideas, regardless of agreement or disagreement. The side notes and off-topic personal additions in effort to textually compete are not wanted. There is no "My point of view wins."
You're just going to be another opinion that only matters to Blizzard, no one else.
Don't let me find another post with negativity. You're a bit on the extreme side compared to others.

I'm glad to see they're incorporating ideas from anything they can get their hands on and manipulate it in a way that is compatible with previous Diablos. It's nice to have that Diablo scent with all the more advantages and all the less disadvantages.
I'm confident in thinking the wait will not be too great.
I liked seeing a handful of questions being answered that have been asked by this community, and I also liked seeing questions we haven't asked having an answer that included putting light to questions we have asked; as if they've been reading these threads.
I can still remember the feeling when I first pressed "Start Game."
I can't wait to feel that feeling again.

Funny, as none of my posts have ever been deleted. They've only edited my language.
If it were a problem, I think I'd know before you did.
diablo is smart taking the boss fights from where they got them. I can't think of any games with boss fights i would have preferred. they couldn't use Jericho for inspiration because it's an first person with gratuitous use of guns, they can't use shinobi for the latter reason for jericho, hellgate's bosses sucked floppy donky-d1<l<, and God of War style is already being implemented. Well played, Blizzard. Well played
I am not an experienced WoW player at all, but i am most definitely an experienced zelda player. I have always been a fan and will always be a fan of the series (unless Nintendo utterly screws it up, which is doubtful). I own every zelda game, and to call zelda kiddy is just horribly inaccurate. Some of the greatest boss battles are from zelda games. I think diablo could stand to have some STYLE put into the boss battles, instead of the player just running up to the boss and beating them to death and never moving.
The game is comming along great, and i have minimal problems with it. The only big problem i have is that i dont know enough about it and am worried that it will be to easy, not random enough and so on. But thats just me worrying too much : P.
QUESTION: Did he say in the interview that the best items are found based on the story...as in everyone will find the best sword from a certain boss every time? i sure as heck hope thats not what he meant!

HELL YEAH! I love it and you're new .gif-making addiction. <3

Blizzard is not responsible for the death and loss of your hardcore characters for any reason including Internet lag, bugs, Acts of God, your little sister, or any other reason whatsoever. Consult the End User License Agreement for more details. Blizzard will not, and does not have the capability to restore any deceased Hardcore characters. Don't even ask. La-la-la-la-la, we can't hear you..,
As much as I strongly dislike at least half of the people on these forums (who whine about blizzard making one of the best looking games in decades because there's a little too much saturation or the hue is off or start petitions to completely change the graphics engine... which has caused at least 4 people I know to ignore this site altogether)....
I thought I would lay this debate to rest -
" The Demographics of Video Gamers
The Entertainment Software Association's 2005 Essential Facts About the Computer and Video Game Industry report [PDF] reveals that 75% of heads of households play computer or video games and that the average game player's age is 30 years old. Not surprisingly, a significant percentage of gamers are teenagers: 35% of gamers are under 18 years old. Most gamers, however, 43%, to be exact, are in the 18-49 year old age bracket, while only 19% are over 50 years of age."
"The average age for a video game player is about 30[1], a number slowly increasing as people that were children playing the first arcade, console and home computer games continue playing now on current systems[2]. The gender distribution of gamers is reaching equilibrium, according to a 2005 study showing that 57% of gamers are male and 43% female[1]. In early 2008 the NPD reported that 72% of people age six to forty-four in the U.S. played video games in the year 2007 with most players using the computer to play video games.[3]"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_game_culture#Demographics
There you go... a majority are from 18 to over 50 years old.
If I may say so... SHUT YOUR MOUTH.
This useless babbling, coupled with the whining is almost too much to bear. I generally stay on the front page section of the site now.
It's okay to have an opinion but it seems that half the members have absolutely NO faith in the BEST producer of PC games.

We hate your annoying sarcasm plaguing the thread.
Your passive aggressive, bitter, pissed off journey for attention like a 10 year old in a rich family.
Your "I'll die like the Everquest story before I let anyone on this forum breathe anything but 'I agree, I agree.'"
Again, no one hates the petition.
You've signed it. The numbers are growing. The reason behind the numbers is there.
Blizzard can see this all.
However, shut the fuck up and leave everyone WHO CAN'T CHANGE THE ART DIRECTION alone.
We don't need to hear your shit. We can't do anything about it.
Grow up and await the results of your petition.
Otherwise, you look like a bunch of children going through puberty who believe they're going to lose, as if they are in a competition in the first place, that their dick is small and limp, and are generally mad as hell. I think of the German kid beating the shit out of his keyboard every time I see any of you post.
Sign your petition. State your opinion on that. Await Blizzard's response of doing nothing because 50,000 is the breadcrumb of a steak, and don't be mad at us for it.
Most of you truly look like spoiled brats, throwing fits because you know you won't get it your way.
Go to college and become a developer. It's really not that hard when you set your mind to it.
Become one of the voices at Blizzard for Diablo IV.

Weren't you just jumping all over my back for making an off-topic post just like this in an argumentative tone just like this?
Hooray for hypocrisy!
Maybe you need to "cool it" and take your "extreme views" to another forum.
First you flame people with another opinion and then end your post with this.
I was trying to make the point that there is a difference in expressing an opinion and whining about every possible detail. I think the game looks amazing as-is and doesn't need an "engine overhaul". I have faith in blizz.
People don't have to share this opinion but getting upset about every detail and crying because your class idea wasn't in there, or they brought back the barb, or the game doesn't use sprites (etc) is utterly childish.
I apologize I posted that though. It seems I have started a flame war. You guys are too easy (glad to see some in agreement with me though).

What you see as "whining" I see as valid discussion.
Also, I have a lot of trouble putting my faith into the team that made WoW, has never put work into a Diablo game before, and has wholly admitted that their inspiration was to take as much from WoW for the game.
