hate open world in almost every game
the only game i liked it in was shadowbane.. and even then the travel was still tedius
so i vote for instances.

I think the maker did it that way because this was made more back when the art debate was in full swing and the big anti-WoW thing was going on. The connotation of his choice of words would affect the way votes would pan out. But yes, you're correct.
Player-created rooms are best for lag, preferences, and etc.
Only think this; if the D3 world is anywhere near the size of Wow's, then these rooms would get mighty boring if you wanted adventure, etc. They should make a few large server rooms or seomthing, and the choice for private rooms.
to tell the truth i dont mind either
if questing deffinateally rooms but if your JUST monster bashing and meeting new people while your at it probably WoW
but overall traidional D2 it is cosier and nicer u dont have to share with so many randoms cause i want to kill them all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the monstors that is
Yea I like a good amount of people in games, but an open world is just too much. imagine the amount of spam you'd get from those 4 years olds that love to swear over the intarnet, even though they make no sense. Depending on how big the towns are, I like to have around 10 people or so in a game. No party limit either, if we want to 9v1 some newb, then we should be able to, no matter how gay it may be. And people would just camp at bosses, waiting for them to respawn so they can mf like those baddies in asia. And if your talking pvp too, then it just wouldnt be fun at all, you would have at least 20 people spamming/ks'ing/goldstealing/juving etc etc.
I thiink a hybrid would be cool. The cities you enter are open world, with all characters present. Once outside the town specific instances can be created to keep people out. Still there would have to be a limit on the number of people per town, might get messy.
I'd like an 'open world' city, like a trading area, while instanced to 4 player (assuming it will be a 4 player cap, I'm sure bliz will set it for the best gameplay) for the actual game play. I think guildwars worked this way, but I've never played it so I can't say for sure. But to me that would make the game feel big, without feeling crowded.
I didn't vote because I don't know which option that would qualify as.
"I fight for a better tomorrow not because I believe one to be necessarily forthcoming, but because I believe a better tomorrow is worth fighting for."
should be the exact way it is except, instead of chat channel make them able to support chars. within them you can trade/repair/xfer, whatever you want. then have a location where you can see a list of games and the ones you want to join

DIABLO = DEVIL its not supposed to be a nice game autostats are rediclous lack of pots is not welcome if it aint broke dont fix it! (diablo2)
I think if they do somehow make a open world multiplayer, it will end up being something like Guild Wars. where the major cities are open to everyone, then when you go into a fighting area, you are by yourself. It will be like a half open world, half classic d2 style.

Even tho I thought guild wars wasnt all that great the ideas they had for a mmoish game thats not completely a mmo could of worked if done better in a game like diablo....
yeah but i think it will be neat to see that type of multiplaer in diablo. cause you could have like caldeum. and have everyone log in there and that would be like the main towns.
actually i just thought of something. it wont be. cause didnt they say that if someone was fighting and a player joined a game...that they would spawn right in battle?
