I dont see a problem with it... There were some brightly colored things in D1 and D2 also...
mmm now i have to make this clear, THIS DOESN'T mean teh petition is wrong its just a nice thing to think about if we don't get it the way the petition wants.
I have to say it looked much better when I payed closer attention (first time I was listening intently mostly ) especially like at the beginning of it and you see the rat run by the walkway. I would like darker dungeons, but I don't want the color to be drained simply to try make it "gothic"
people should also put into consideration that d3 is 20 years after d2 (i think). realistically, 20 years is alot of time to "fix" things. maybe thats why sanctuary doesnt looks so gothic or horrific anymore. but the problem is, as d3 lasts longer, the story of the game progresses, therefore sanctuary becomes more "gothic" as the game passes by.
you know what ( i signed the petition), i agree with you polkm...i still think some stuff should be changed (the female barb with her armor and all that looks kinda stupid...soem of tha;t stuff and slight color things should be altered toa llow for a more realistic adn diablo like feel....THAT BEING SAID...
I am starting to see more and more of a connection to how it looks so much like diablo (but progressed) and how much i like it (with the exception of the few things i DO want changed). I honestly think people should look at this video and truly think about it.....that doesnt mean i dont want blizzard to change stuff...i do...but not alot.
thousand pounder looks kinda cartoony, but then you see the big beast thing and he looks alot more real like...kinda odd. idk but i am really starting to love the game (just please limit the respecs!!!!!)...if they limit the respecs i am confident that all my other worries will be handled and it will be my new favorite game EVER.
i think if they just implemented some more dreary colors ina couple areas, tones down the damn shoulder pads a bit, and redid a small amount of the style (soem characters and thousand pounder) we would be set...idk...soemthign like that.
I am loving the graphics but there does need to be a small change to some things.

I don't think thats all, in my opinion, i think its also partly due to blizzards new style and art taste, also because of the HUGE difference i think it shocked allot of people, and me, but now i can accept it for what it is.^_^
I watched the video, and I change my mind. Initially, I thought it doesn't matter that it was a little bright and contrasty. But now that I watched it, I can't help but feel the lack of that gritty, morbid atmosphere from the first two games. I actually agree with the others who say DIablo 3 is too "cartoony" because it is! Take the Thousand Pounder boss for instance. He's not grotesque-looking like a lot of D1/D2 bosses, in fact his appearance, movements, and attacks makes it seem like he just jumped out from Kingdom Hearts into Diablo.
i just love playind diablo 2 with my brother...and he clearly does not like these graphics...im hoping he and others will get a change (including myself, as SOME change is needed), and then be happy with the style.
lol see...alot of people are NOT like the "Thousand Pounder"...its odd but he looks more cartoony than most things...idk why...make him veiny, bloody, and less PURPLE lol...then he would be better

lol not quit the point lol but I'm glad to see that you are now happier with your new opinion, and thats a good thing:thumbsup:
ofcourse, because nostalgia starts to fade away and you see that diablo 3 is improved and better, yet still has the same feeling!

Diablo 3 is graphically and artistically great, there needs to be variety in the game, instead of only plain and dark areas!
+Wouldn't it be better and more interesting if from a sunny beautiful day, mist starts covering the screen, rain starts falling, thunders and lightning striking and it starts to darken, instead of constant dark!?
As odd as it sounds, i think the game is TOO beautiful for people to like lol....it just has to much of a epic, movie, hi def, new feel for them...and i can understand that as i was one of the signers for the petition...and i still want some stuff changed, but now im starting to like the art alot more and i am starting to see it as an evolved form of diablo...just change things like some character design, SOME colors, and people like THousand pounder...he i will never get used to lol.
Thats just ignorance speaking.
Watch the high quality official diablo.com gameplay demo and see that its not nearly as cartoony or bright as some are representing it to be!
I know you are nostalgic but after you clear your mind you will see that theese new graphics are much better.
Yes I also like so change and a bit more dark in the game but petitioning for a complete art style change because of a pre-aplha demo build is just absurd.
+ D3 does not in any ways, is not even near WOW style, even blind man would see that!

Well D3 is 16 years after Diablo 1 and only a couple years (about 7-8) after d2
lol I'll still like Diablo 1 over Diablo 2 to me, Diablo 2 was cartoony when compared to Diablo 1. In fact, i never truely liked the D2 graphics that much. I always felt it wasn't as polished as Diablo 1 and I felt that it didn't live up to the legacy of Diablo 1. Not to mention the dungeons weren't nearly as cool as the D1 dungeons. I did like the landscapes, although it was like 80% landscape and 20% dungeon in that game (and that 20% is forced upon you. I rarely go into any of the non-essential dungeons unless I feel like MFing there). It's hard to be a dungeon crawler when you're outside all the time. That is my opinion of Diablo 2.
Now, I'm going to have to wait for Diablo 3 to actually come out before I can give my full thoughts on it and in my opinion, it's already surpassed Diablo 2 as far as graphics styling goes. There is plenty of work left to be done on the game and I really do hope that it can live up to it's moniker. For me, Diablo 3 isn't attempting to succeed Diablo 2 but instead the real Diablo, Diablo 1. And there's plenty of room in those shoes still cuz D2 didn't fill them in my opinion.
lol go ahead and flame me, d2 n00bs Go check which one has the highest rating, Diablo 1 or Diablo 2 and you'll see Diablo 1 is the higher rated by game review sites and is still one of the highest rated PC games of all time.
