I'm really glad they can justify their choice, it makes me even more happy that they went down this line as it shows they've clearly thought it out.
I would've tried to post this as news, but aparantly you can't, even though it says you can if an admin approves it With all the negativity created, this seems only fair to make it to the front page. This obviously needs more elaboration as angry trolls about the graphics seem to think it's against them. Blizzard are going to take in the feedback they recieve, this WAS done on the weekend but at the bottom it clearly states fan feedback is CRUCIAL to the process. This is GOOD news for people who LIKE IT and those who DONT. You know why? Because your negative feedback which is fine to give, will be taken under consideration which is good to hear right? It's what you wanted? For those who like the graphics it's great to hear that someone can sit down and say why they chose it, this isn't JUST FOR ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER. EVERYONE SHOULD BE HAPPY THAT THEY CAN ACTUALLY GIVE YOU AN INFORMED REASON ON THEIR CHOICE BUT THEN SAY FEEDBACK WILL BE USED. This essentially means that blizzard is on the right track, they have their own idea but we're already willing to take in anything which came after the show and I get attacked for bringing the news. The right track, doesn't mean ohnoes they won't change it but it'll end up better for EVERYONE.
I actually made a post before I had watched WWI live, and said somethings about how I thought they could create "contrast" with the colors, and the environments to a more visceral effect. Looks like Blizzard was way ahead of me.
We've seen videos of the art design saying that they were happy with it. They were happy with Starcraft 2 before the fans told them no. There is always room for improvement, and what he says in this interview doesn't justify anything, its only an opinion, not a fact.
Most people saying we're insane don't even bother to learn anything we want, they think we're insane and that we want to delay the game another year because we're "unhappy".
We're happy with the game, why do you think we waited so long after the announcement to start talking about this? We're thrilled about the game, we just think it could easily be improved with less than a few weeks of work.

Your reaction just tells me you didn't read it all you just saw the title and instantly come on the offensive without any reading at all, look again come back and we'll go over it
I think he (Keith Lee) has a good point there, on the fact that you are in different places, which have different atmospheres. If we take Diablo II, on Act II, the feel is not particulary dark except in the Arcane Sanctuary.
Personally, I think the feel is dark enough within the Tristram Cathedral (as seen in the gameplay video) even though not everything is in different shades of grey.
no, look at the very bottom about the FAN FEEDBACK. Wow you really have no clue at all? Learn to read before trying to troll. Once again, READ IT then come back in here looking like a moron because you didn't read it all.
Just because you make the smoke greenish blue in a dungeon wont make it scary. It works in theory but in practice I think around 15,000 people disagree. EDIT: Actually thats 1651 sigs.
Look at the very bottom, I'll QUOTE it for you. Since I'm being told to read, when clearly your just being trolls.
I also asked Lee about how and when the dev team will take fan feedback into account. He wouldn’t go into specifics, but said:
“We’re very involved, because everyone’s very passionate about our games. Blizzard employees, we spend a lot of time actually iterating on [the game], and so in terms of the next phase, what we’ll try to do is a proof on concept on lot of different gameplay aspects. And we really want to get as much feedback as possible so that we can improve on the game and ensure that we meet Blizzard quality for our fans and for ourselves as players.”
Of course, it's not in reply to your petition I never said it was? Right? no, he defended himself because he is a smart guy and knew it was coming. All of the people who want the graphics changed instantly attacked me for posting this, but freaking READ the quoted line. it's ABOUT FAN FEEDBACK they are GOING TO TAKE IT IN.
I hope you feel somewhat stupid by jumping all over me, when this is 'good' news for EVERYONE not just for one side of the fence or the other, but obviously your to busy caught up trying to make yourself right to see that.
Omg! He asked for feedback wow... crazy.. I guess us complainers should really go think about what were doing giving them feedback! SHAME ON US! Shaame! *wags his finger at himself*

if thats really all it takes, tell me about programming and how your gonna change all you want changed in that timeframe
personally I am ok with the new art, however I really would be happy if we cold get light radius back inside dungeons
One thing this interview tells me is that those of us who are fine with the current graphics and think the dissenters are remembering DI and DII with a sort of romanticized darkness now have to surrender that argument point.

Diablo I and Diablo II[/I'] are darker
Even though I disagree, I am not about to sit here and contradict Keith Lee.

Um.. actually you just did contradict her since you just said you disagree...

I think you'd be wise to quote the post you are answering when calling someone a moron. Your post is right below mine, and if I had a short fuse (and didn't understand that it wasn't me you were adressing), I might have gotten offended by your post.
I hope they still maintain the dark & gritty style of Diablo.

You haven't seen the Pooh Bear that is in the game? Oh, God.. No one post that screenshot. Please!

Are they seriously comparing the smooth wowish cathedral they made to lord of the rings darkness???
In lord of the rings you truly had light and darkness, but there was no pink, no rainbows (Honestly, fire the guy who put that in diablo, i beg you)
That would be the lead art designer :D. I admit, even I, a casual supporter of the new look, thought that it was funny that they compared the new Diablo style to the very thing they (As well as all Fantasy fiction, and game universes.) ripped off with WarCraft

Good work blizzard, stay on track
