Where i live highspeed hasnt bee available yet which really sucks, so i run d2lod with dial-up and it works fine, but will d3 work ok? That would really blow if i couldnt play just because highspeed hasnt made it my way yet... I played Dungeon Siege on dial up and it worked too, so i just dont know, diablo3 is going to be way more advanced than those games so they arent good comparisons. Any thoughts???
My internet speed isnt very fast, unreliable so its somewhere between 1mbps and 2mbps IN THEORY
Practicality its another story
I used to play Diablo 2 with 56k, now that I play with a theoretical at least 1mbps the ping isnt that much different considering the huge difference between 56k and my speed now
And location makes HUGE difference. Where are you? Hyrule?
My brother played on battle.net connecting at 26k and it generally worked fine for him. What speed do you connect at? I couldn't live without high speed at this point.
Yea.. lag only really annoyed me in Diablo 2 with teleport, trying to dodge blessed hammers in pvp and when I had to move around ALOT of stuff in stash like an entire stash of runes or gems
I think you would see the biggest difference going from 56kbps-256kbps
Yeah I live in europe, ping to europe servers is generally 10-30 but if i connect useast its immidiately 120-180. So especially if u connect across the ocean your ping goes down
you'll run absolutely fine with your internet, only thing you gotta be worried about is if your computer can handle the low end specs of it (that is of course if your repping an extremely old computer), but from what you explained, wherever you live, greenland or whatever..you'll run pretty smooth

Well I know people in Canada, near urban centres, who bought new homes in these new development areas and had to wait a year or two for the broadband wiring to reach their new houses. Yeah it sucked, but the people bought mansions for a couple hundred thousands and now like five-six years later, they're worth almost ten times the amount due to everything built around them; schools, shopping centres, businesses, etc...
Don't judge before you know why he only has dial-up. I think that depending on your ping and # of players in the game, you could most likely play it without TOO many problems.
unzip, strip, touch, finger, grep, mount, fsck, more, yes, fsck, fsck, fsck, umount, sleep

Did you make this thread just so people would ask about your location? That seems silly.

For example, whats your internet connection download and upload speeds? distance from server and Diablo 2 ingame ping?
I live in NZ, The speedtest says 1.5mbps, ping is 150ms in-game USWEST. Distances screw you over more than speed it seems

Yeah i'm from NZ too. (livin in Aussie now though) Playing on USWest with my 56k modem = could never pick up items in time
