Okay I'm going to have to play a bit of a devils advocate here...
I see ALOT of talk on people wanting Diablo 3 to be like Diablo 2, which I don't think would turn out to well. My first time playing any of the Diablo games I did so for the story line, and many many MANY of us have played Diablo 2 and sucked it dry. We have gotten to the point of have bots run characters to become level 99 or find the best of the best items, it is being turned over to programs playing the damn game.
Also, people are asking for graphics like diablo 2, but how much room for improvement would that leave blizzard on the graphics part? Also, paying for the game... Why the hell not!?!? It would allow for support as well as new content like WoW, which is 3 times the size (at least) since it's come out.
And wouldn't the same type of gameplay get old after a while, same old same old just to get us through the days of our youth - old age?
Personaly, I am hoping for a totaly new type of game. With the social aspects of an MMORPG, but totaly new everything. But an all new type of game might not be possible so anything resembling WoW, on game mechanics, and maybe a mix of wow and everquestfor graphics... Something that looks good, we all know deep down wow has a certain aesthetic appeal, it has 11million+ players. It works, but won't for long. Mixing WoW and diablo would be best IMO. Imagine in killer graphics, an enhanced wow, the despair, grotesque feelings hell can bring upon you with mutilate things / people being hung and stuck to walls of a heavenly fortress, heaven and hell contrasting each other in one "zone" of the game. Imagine how amazing it would be to venture forth and redeem the fortress for the good, or finaly corrupting it to the point no light can ever shine there again.
But now I'm on the verge of getting into how I want the game to be. That's horrible.
Can't get your hopes to high because it's not going to be able to be the way each one of us wants it to be. I say just wait till it comes out, if it comes out, and see how it turns out!
I pretty sure that people want it to be like Diablo2 simply because, well, they really liked Diablo2 (and Diablo for that matter)! I don't think too many people think that it should be EXACTLY like Diablo2, but I think it is safe to say that many of the fans would not want an MMORPG similar to WoW. That is not to say that adding some features of MMOs would be a terrible idea, or that upgrading the graphics to today's stardards would ruin the game. I know that it would be controversial, but i would even be willing to pay a subcription if it supported more secure servers and ongoing content. However, I really just want some good ol' hack n' slash, loot farming goodness, and know that if any developer can do it right, it is Blizzard.
Well, it's basically like paying for entrance in to a theme park or something every month, if you'd like to think about it that way. Gives them the ability to get better resources to give us a better gaming experience, and also helps secure the future of the Diablo franchise.
haha diablo means devil and you are avocating for diablo 3 and you are devil's avocato

this is not part of my post, this is a signature, it's not a really big signature for now but maybe some time later it will have cool pictures and more information and stuff on it like from games or some other things i don't know
I don't care what they do with it as long as it still feels like a Diablo game.. If they mess with the view, change it, and make it full 3D, then at least make it so that you can switch between views.. I want to be able to play the classic view as well.
Oh, and, no, I don't want to pay a monthly fee. I would rather pay full price, and buy a new expansion every few months than pay a monthly fee for new content..
