Well, yeah, but technically they don't even have to add them
True. But looking at some of the WoW fanart, a lot of it is way out of style compared to canon images. I'd say they put up what looks good, perhaps what gives Blizzard's own guys inspiration, and probably just as a bit of promotion as well, showing the game isn't dead and that they support their fans and their work.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.

Wow, now I wanna read/see Tales of Sanctuary. Where can I get/find it?
That Baal definitely looks cooler. I love his open chest.
Oh yeah, and two-tongues would be cool too.
But it'd be funny with two heads, because then when Belial talks, each head would say something that contradicts the other head, so you have no clue which one is telling the truth (if any) lol. Full of lies. Haha, it'd be so frustrating.

SO long as it wasn't cheesy, that would work, nothing worse than some multiple headed creature like the 3 headed knight in Monty Python's Holy Grail to ruin the seriousness of the subject matter.
Those concepts for Baal are pretty good, they look like his earlier cinematic versions, the gathering of the three, specifically. THat is my preferred version of Baal, I didn't like his wierdo act 5 version.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
I dunno, I thought his uniqueness made him fit in perfectly with the Three, but I'll admit that possessed, flowing scarf of demonic fuzz he has in the Eve of Destruction is kinda funny, lol.
If you think about it, on the other hand, the concept of him being crab-like is kinda an oxymoron in relation to his story-purpose. Crabs have shells they hide in, all defensive and what-not, while Baal is supposed to be the Lord of Destruction, which would seem like an offensive thing to me. Hm...

Kind of how he send waves to kill you while he hid behind them, and then ran when there were no more? - he still is defensive. He even makes clones and pushes you back with a huge ice spell.
Asmodeus is the lord of the Nine Hells of Baalor in Dungeons and Dragons. Also he is one one the top dogs of the hierarchy of demons, I think he is ranked 4th over all.

yeah, it took me ages to figure out what Baal actually was lol. When I first saw the cinematic, I thought he was on a chair! or.. wait.. is he on a chair? lol i still don't kow.
Yeah hes on a throne if im not wrong, being pulled by his evil monk servants. But he doesnt seem to have an ass to sit on lol
When you first see in in LOD in the opening cinematic yes, then when you met him in game, the throne seems to be a part of him or something, it looks weird.

What possessed, flowing scarf? I need to look at the cinematic again cuz i forgot.
I mean come on, Baal in the cinematic looks AWESOME. And who can forgot the uber classic quote, including the tone its delivered in " I SHALL TAKE YOUR POSITION INTO CONSIDERATION ...... ***throws orange missile .... SPLAT*** .... "WELL IT SEEMS UR TERMS ARE NOT ACCEPTIBLE!" I mean come on, Lord of Destruction? More like Evil Lord of Stand-Up Comedy. I was in fits! That made Baal the coolest of the 3! I mean mephisto with all his blood rivers and fire rains, and diablo with his not even death can save u from me .... lol and then BAAL says that.
Having said that, however he looks bad by the end of act 5. His face is too human, he should have looked like the concept i showed u guys, with the open bony chest, bipedal. That wouldve been super.
Also, if im not mistaken, there was an earlier act 5 cinematic shown at e3 or and old blizzcon or something which showed a different face to the one we see in the act 5 cinematic. Can anyone confirm this? I couldve sworn, his face was more grey and there werent those stupid 'horns' on his head, you guys know what i mean they arent horns theyre more like some twisted irregular bone adorning his head.
Yeah, Baal had STYLE. He was really cool. I just didn't like the way he looked in-game. I can see what they were trying to get at, but I think they just screwed it up.

Goatmen? Minotaurs act 5? Done already
As for that Azmodan fanart, the one in black, its ok but it needs more work. more demonic features and a more 'evil' face. He looks like a sub-boss if anything, ala hephasto. If only i could draw my azmodan concept, i think ppl would like it a lot. I cant draw for shit. Sell my soul to baal or diablo in exchange for a picasso soul? lol
And i agree Baal doesnt look too good .... they should have spent more time on him. But he does look unique nonetheless, and in the comic series 'Tales of Sanctuary' there is a BADASS early concept of him, lemme show you ....

I like how Baal looks there, in the bottom one. He doesn't have the weird thing around his neck. Though, it's still a bit too humanoid and not quite fierce enough - or rather, not enough there. Really cool though.
And Mephisto - cool, but again, not enough there. He doesn't need to be a big muscular brute like Diablo, but having more of what he's got - tentacle like muscles and bones that look sickening - would be good.

It looks like Baal's final form became the Baal's Minion creature.

I was never bothered by his appearance, I just accepted it as thats what he is. Though I suppose his face might be a bit too human.

Blizzard, I do not mind a retcon here. Please do change Baal's design for D3
