Diablo 3: Disruption
The World Stone, corrupted by Baal in his conquest of the Barbarian Highlands, was shattered by the Archangel Tyrael after a champion slayed the last living Prime Evil. The Stone, once protected by the spirits of the strongest warriors of Sanctuary to preserve the separation between Sanctuary, Hell, and Heaven, has been destroyed to prevent its use for evil as a gateway to and from Hell.
The realities of Sanctuary, Heaven, and Hell begin to collide and merge as the World Stone no longer preserves and protects them. Mt. Arreat violently erupts, causing chaos and terror as the tribes in the surrounding lands attempt to flee.
The land of Sanctuary begins to literally splinter, as the continent experiences dramatic geographic shifts. The continents violently expand as regions of Heaven and Hell hemorrhage in various areas of Sanctuary. This begins with the Barbarian Highlands, the region immediately surrounding Mt. Arreat, and extends beyond to Scosglen, Kehjistan, Ensteig, Westmarch, Khanduras, and the desert of Aranoch. Previously unvisited areas of Sanctuary will be added to the series, namely the vast lands to the east of Kehjistan.
Unfortunately for the humans who by no intention wander into the merged regions of Heaven, their existence is short-lived. The reality of Heaven cannot sustain the human form and thus any humans to venture in perish.
Human society grows unstable and begins to crumble as well. Ten years following the end of the World Stone, the kingdom of Khanduras collapses as Westmarch is flooded with bands of demons seemingly under no ultimate master. The warriors of the West and the mages of the East band together with the remaining barbarians and necromancers to survive the continuous onslaught.
Meanwhile, the two remaining Lesser Evils -- Azmodan (Lord of Sin) and Belial (Lord of Lies) have escaped from Hell into Sanctuary and taken refuge in Scosglen, the land far north of the jungles of Kehjistan known for the Druids. Together they are building vast armies of fiendish minions to overtake the Merged Realms, and begin attacking the surrounding areas.
The leaders of the Druids, who are usually secretive and reclusive, send out a call for help throughout Sanctuary, only to find that chaos is rampant everywhere. Once they receive word from the united forces, the remainder of the Druids flee to join them.
You enter the picture again as a hero or heroine set to rid the land of its demonic plague, just as it appears that all hope may be lost.

Asheara - The leader of the hirable mages from Kurast played a minor role in Diablo 2 but could play a key role in the faction of mages.
Griez - The leader of the desert warriors from Diablo 2: Act 2 would naturally play an important role in said faction's future.
Jerhyn - The ruler of Lut Gholein will probably have something to say about the destruction in Sanctuary.
Kashya - The military head of the Rogues from Khanduras.
Natalya - The mysterious assassin from Kurast should play an important role in the Viz-Jag'taar, the clan of mage slaying assassins of which she is a member.

Interesting but it was killed when you start telling us about the rolles of the people we already know.
I might have belived this is if you gave us information we have not yet heard but i have seen the same things being said over and over that its just dumb.
you said 10 years later it starts colapsing there? that is the stupidest shit i have ever heard!!!!!
So that place is peaceful untill 10 years after the worldstone? so what all theas years our people
when finished the game were whiping there ass and masterbating?
you also said we have some desert to explore, WELL NO SHIT LOL! the game will be huge!
looking back at the top, iv read all this stuff before.... WOW!!!!!
according to you, they escape to two places that people know about? why would they not be in a new place noone has heard about?? why uhmm cause this story is really stupid
I am not sure if it is true or not. It souds Good. But like you said it is pure speculation. My Grandma is a Hardcore Diablo fan and this is information that she sent me in my email.
also you mentioned the human life is short lived? .... wow
sooo guys according to this, we will be playing as Fallens and uhmm little mini durials! WOOT Diablo will be the best game in the world when we play as little fallen shits LOL
All this is pure speculation. Anyone who has read the Sin War novels knows that the worldstone is meant mostly to hide Sanctuary from Heaven. It is a place of extreme power and holds the boundaries of Sanctuary. The reason Baal corrupts it is so that they can bring minions from Hell to Sanctuary, since its mostly in his control. Tyrael destroys the Worldstone so that he can prevent Sanctuary to falling in the lone control of Hell. Because of this, Sanctuary is now completely exposed to Heaven and Hell. It will be followed with lots and lots of fighting, and possibly a human and heavenly effort to remake a Worldstone that will exile demons and other influences from Hell.
Since the Worldstone was made by both demons and angels, it was allowed to go either way. The Sin War explains alot about Sanctuary and I urge everyone to read them before believing everything their grandma sends them.

Yes, this summary is pretty much all correct. You could easily consider the three spirits of the Nephalem at the Arreat Summit to be the spirits of the strongest warriors of Sanctuary considering Baal certainly did not wish to fight them.

This part greatly depends on your interpretation of the nature of the Worldstone. You are incorrect however to say that realities of these three realities would collide since the Worldstone is no longer there to protect them. Both Heaven and Hell existed long before the Worldstone's creation and thus its destruction would have little to no impact on on the realms of Heaven and Hell.
However, if you believe that the Worldstone's destruction allows Heaven and Hell to freely enter the mortal realm, then that is the impact you are looking for: that it is merely a free for all portal. So it would have a tremendous effect on Sanctuary, but not necessarily on Heaven and Hell.
I personally have never believed that the Worldstone's destruction meant that both Heaven and Hell could really enter Sanctuary. My interpretation has always been that its destruction would prevent both Heaven and Hell's forces from ever directly interfering in mortals' destiny again. In other words, its destruction liberated mortals from having to be the pawns of higher powers. Mortals would no longer have to be subjected to the Great Conflict. At least, not in a direct way.
Heaven and Hell seem pretty anchored as they are. I don't think anything short of an absolute victory on either side could affect the other side's realm.

Perhaps you are concerned that Sanctuary isn't big enough to provide an adequate amount of Diablo sequels. I'm sure that Sanctuary, like Earth, has tectonic plates and volcanoes of its own in order to expand. Your ideas here are interesting, but I don't see how regions of Heaven and Hell would hemorrage into the world of Santuary. You would need to discuss more how that would even be possible. And don't just say that the Worldstone made it happen. Because the Worldstone's power doesn't seem capable of moving realities into colliding with one another.

If a mortal was in the realm of Heaven, I could imagine you are correct here. Just like how Tyrael could not keep himself physically anchored in the mortal realm for long. As his energies that tied him to this world had been broken.

Human society grows unstable and begins to crumble as well.
From what we can gather about Sanctuary itself, humans' (or mortals') society seems pretty crumbly as it is. That's not to say there are no governments in the land of Sanctuary, but the kingdoms definitely seem scattered with little diplomatic relations between them except for rudimentary trading. That is, there are trade routes akin to what Earth had long ago with spice routes. This is just the impression that I get though.

It seems to me that if there were actual regions of Heaven and Hell existing on Sanctuary, that the conflict between these regions could easily take less than ten years to make all kingdoms collapse. Maybe even wiping out all mortals in the process.

Believe me, most of us wish to battle the remaining two Lesser Evils. But all evidence suggests it is more likely you'll fight them in Hell and Hell only instead of in some kind of fragmented then merged Sanctuary.

I really wouldn't place too much emphasis on the importance of these different characters and factions. Besides, I'd be more interested to be introduced to more new characters as well as learn of other possible factoins. I mean, Asheara? The Iron Wolves? They're just a band of mercenaries. Most mercenary bands do not have a long lifespan. And remember that the Iron Wolves were doing so well because they were hired to protect the dockside at Kurast. Yeah, it's possible they're still around, but they were never that interesting that I'd care to see more of them (as well as other characters and factions you mention) in a sequel. If they are in the sequel, it's hard to imagine justifying elevating their importance in the story.

Yeah, none of these folks need to be in the Diablo sequel. They certainly could be, not none of them would need to be. They just weren't essential to the storyline in any way.
Why do I always get my hopes up when I see a thread titled, "New information on Diablo 3"?
You would think I would have learnt by now...
I bet with the first real bit of information made available about Diablo 3, you'll hear it elsewhere first. Not saying this place isn't a good source, but it will be all over the net in a matter of seconds.
WorldRaider, you're an ignorant douchebag. This, although not in-sync with the lore of the Diablo Realm, is a very interesting story. Nowhere does he say you'll be playing as fallen. Take some time to read the words written and not just hallucinating from your crack habit.
Also, Bokla - no problem with you, but you could read a few posts up and see the post where he explains who he heard this from.

and if what rumours dictate (see here 2nd post down) is to be believed Adria would be in a new patch to LOD but like i said its only a rumour at this point, as for horazon? off acquiring knowledge somewhere id expect, he might have some quest for you to retrieve a tome of some kind but i dont think he would be a hugely prominent character in the game, assuming he is in it that is.

logic reasoning and let us not forget lore. amazing the number of ideas for d3 that totally disregard the lore, Diablo has some of the best lore ive see in a game and novels.
why does it seem like so many have forgetten it or never bothered to learn it?

The funny things is that it doesn't take long to learn most of the lore. If anybody were to just read both manuals plus the expansion manual, they would understand a ton more. That, and just paying close attention to the NPC dialogue. Even when you gossip with them, they can reveal so much. It's not like in the first Diablo when they mostly just gossip about other NPCs. They actually talk about historical things and such.

It's hard to imagine anyone unwittingly strolling into a region of Heaven.
If a mortal was in the realm of Heaven, I could imagine you are correct here. Just like how Tyrael could not keep himself physically anchored in the mortal realm for long. As his energies that tied him to this world had been broken.
Are they escapeing Hell? Or just leaving Hell? Is Hell really such a bad place to be if you're a demon? Can you be more specifc as to their motivations for escaping Hell?
Anya is not as much of a minor character as you seem to think. She basically became the sole leader of the Barbarians after the Council of Elders were slain. The future of the Barbarian's destiny is pretty much in her hands.
Yeah, none of these folks need to be in the Diablo sequel. They certainly could be, not none of them would need to be. They just weren't essential to the storyline in any way.

You would think I would have learnt by now...
I bet with the first real bit of information made available about Diablo 3, you'll hear it elsewhere first. Not saying this place isn't a good source, but it will be all over the net in a matter of seconds.
Also, Bokla - no problem with you, but you could read a few posts up and see the post where he explains who he heard this from.
thanks for thar Siaynoq, i was going to say that but you beat me to it, lol.
and if what rumours dictate (see here 2nd post down) is to be believed Adria would be in a new patch to LOD but like i said its only a rumour at this point, as for horazon? off acquiring knowledge somewhere id expect, he might have some quest for you to retrieve a tome of some kind but i dont think he would be a hugely prominent character in the game, assuming he is in it that is.
why does it seem like so many have forgetten it or never bothered to learn it?
