The discussion will be about Quality of Life which concerns on how the crafting mats acquired this days in Diablo 3.
I'm almost sure that i'm not the only one who find this annoying when picking up White Blue and Yellow items from battleground for salvaging them for crafting mats.
And here is why, players who doing so encounter some of the following situations:
1. if you are in a party you always left behind while searching and clicking on these items, (because very few are actually picking them these days).
2. if you are in a party and having your inventory filled with these items, you have to town portal and salvage them and quickly get back to battle.
3. if you are in a party (a good fast party) there is a very high chance that someone will ask you to be more quick and if you are still not, well, you kicked from the game.
4. and no matter if you solo or party, this is just slows you down in overall game play progression.
Blizzard team can even look at their database on how many players are actually wearing these items, which is almost none once players reach level 70.
And even if someone want to wear a Yellow item while at level 70 for some testing or something, they can always craft it at blacksmith.
Also, if you need one White Blue or Yellow item for mats conversion recipe in kanai's cube, you can always buy them from Merchants (Blizzard just need to add few White items for sale to Merchants too).
My suggestions on how to improve this old long going (since vanilla of D3) useless and time consuming "route":
1. once you reach level 70, White Blue and Yellow items will no longer drop, instead, you get only Reusable Parts (+/- x8 per pile) Arcane Dust (+/- x3 per pile) or Veiled Crystal (x1), and this concerns any source of a drops, be it a normal monster or elite or boss or rift guardian and all types of chests or any wreckable objects etc...
2. also while at level 70, any Armor Racks or Weapon Racks will drop Reusable Parts (+/- x8) instead of White item.
3. Bounty Bags, well in this case it actually doesn't matter since all items are in the bag anyway and bag takes only two squares and can always be opened later after you finish playing in party (if Blizzard think there should be anyway some drop source for such items then the Bounty Bags would be the great source for them to drop from), but as for me, i would like them to be replaced with crafting mats too anyway.
4. Kadala gambling, i think she needs to give crafting mats instead of items too (excluding Legendary items of course), since we all know that by doing high solo you can get high blood shard cap this days which results in running back and forward between Blacksmith and Kadala, which in the end makes you a slow player.
...and players in the end can focus more on checking and salvaging a Legendary items and save some time and mouse clicking.
As for a Pets, it would be very helpful in tough battles when you barely can see what's going on in the screen, so the Pets can actually pickup only stacking items like mats, gems, keys, gifts and gold.
Hope Blizzard Dev Team will take a look at this discussion and suggestions on this matter.
Thanks everyone and please leave any comments / suggestions below.
and for how long you see people actually staying in these yellow items ? , yes very short time and on top of that you don't get the point here: if we get mats drop instead of items we actually do and will have more resources to "waste" to craft some yellow gear for a few days or worst case for a week, these days legendary drop rate plus blood shards will get you dressed quick enough in non ancient average rolls gear.
it's just saves times, searching and clicking, town portal and salvaging.
As I made a post above a idea on how to use crafting mats for end game system, I was also thinking over how to make getting crafting mats less painful.
My idea was: Been able to get a Pet though Achievements that all players can get, that when summoned picks up all gear other then Sets and Legendary's, when this pet picks up Gray's, Whites, Blues and yellows it will brake it down into crafting mats and also put them into your bag space.
This gives you the choice if you wanted to do this or not, so fresh 70's don't have the night mare of not finding good base line yellows to do T1 with.
Link above is also about my idea for using these crafting mats you farm, kind of links into the idea of why making picking up mats easier would be better too.
..."most likely" starting players WILL have enough mats to craft some yellow items because you still get the mats instead of an item (in addition to other usual mats drops). as i have mentioned in my first post the item drop will not be removed, it will be just replaced with mats to corresponding item type which could be dropped.
