I think it would have been cool to have a few more spells representing less sinister aspect of Necromancers to contrast the current ones, I always like how Necromancers are among the more benign factions in Sanctuary. Also, find a way to make Iron Golem use your weapons like in D2.
The spells are gory and messy but there isn't much on their descriptions to imply malicious intent besides a couple of them. When I was designing them, I was thinking of how it would feel to unleash destruction yet stoically and patiently wait to see what happens even if you are the one doing the destructive act. This is why many of the runes have DoT or stacking dmg. In my mind, spells like Necrotic Cloud, Putrid Steps and even Hateful Apparition are benign in nature. Emotionless, cold, the ends to a mean.
I struggled a lot to find way for Iron Golem to utilize your weapon but the options I had to work with were not acceptable. I could make it store a legendary affix but *Slap* Blizzard announced kanai's, I could make it consume an item but if it would die, your legendary would be lost in vain. As much as I tried to stay faithful to the original D2 idea, it could not be utilized into D3. The only possible way would be to make it hold in its hands your equipped weapon but that would only be a visual thing and quite pointless.
Maybe it could work like a follower with one slot just for the weapon.

I've added the fanart because I felt like it really helps bring the whole Necromancer idea together, with a very unique visual style for him. I'm glad to see most people think it suits the suggestion by Nightcrest. Who knows, maybe Blizzard is seeing the praise and the feedback, and will think about it.
By the way, if he was willing to draw a female version of that, or even more fanart (moar would be awesome!) we would definitely highlight it. We're always looking for high quality fan-made content

I still think we will most likely get a fusion of druid and necro, like a corrupted shapeshifting dark nephalem, ofc another pet class making use of taskers and enforcer could work also, but the archtype we are missing atm is indeed the shapeshifter...

When this thread started over a year ago, I immediately thought that this fan made creation was really Blizz doing their "extensive market research". I still think that this was a Blizz dev posting this and fully expect the Druid to come soon after.

Amazing job! Very well thought and if it were going into implementation, it would only need numbers tweaking for balance IMO.
For those of you who say we already got a Necromancer like class, you are fools and short of vision.
