I'm just putting ideas out there, maybe since we have all these other material, shard, gold goblins..maybe there's something in the works for a death's breath goblin? I'm probably just bad, but I run out of DBs a lot, especially with the cube now. A DB goblin would be nice to find
if they hadn't nerfed the sage's set would be allot easier to farm , but then again i guess they do it like they do at my work place, if it benefits the people it gets changed
Honestly, I'd prefer them completely removing Sage's set and re-balancing death breath usage/drop before adding band-aids to a wound that won't stop bleeding. One of the big reasons they removed magic find was because they didn't like people having to wear sub-optimal gear in order to achieve optimal play. It's the same problem again with Sage's.
I'd like to see them up the amount that the Odious Collector drops, something far more substantial. Another Goblin just for DB's seems unnecessary. Rather, just adjusting the numbers with the goblin that already drops them would be sufficient.

Its nowhere near the same problem. MF was, and is in any game with MF, OP for gear acquisition. The only time you DONT want MF is if you already have your BiS slot, otherwise MF is more or less king for gear acquisition. Back in 60, remember that a well-rolled rare could be better then 99% of the legendaries you acquired, so MF would directly help you with acquiring BiS. Its a new story now with MF, as its all bout them legendaries, and rares? pfft.
Sages is quite different. At the start, yes, more death's breaths will greatly help your gear acquisition rate - You need it for Kunai's, you need it for reforging, you need it for making royal gems, ect. However, once you have acquired your set, your legendary powers, various misc legendaries, full royal gems, and the only rerolling you do is when you acquire a new ancient, well, Death's Breaths value completely plummets. It is also useless in GRs, which is the only competitive aspect of D3. Finally, the value of an extra DB falls as you go up in Torment difficulty. In comparision to T1, for instance, in which a DB only drops 1/5 times, T7, where it drops almost all the time, T8, where you start getting 2 DB/drop naturally, and T10, where almost all DB drops drops in a set of two, the value of Sage's drops. Its most valuable at the lower difficulties, as you are getting so few DB over time, so doubling that amount greatly increases your acquisition rate of DB. Its less valuable at T7 than at T1, as you are getting DB from every kill so you are acquiring a much larger number of DB in the same period of time, and its signicantly valuable at T10, as Sages is only a 33% DB increase.
Finally, the set bonus for Sages is decent. Not powerful, but decent for a gearing set. Most of the classes has at least 1 set that allows them to easily farm T7-T9 while using Sages, and Sages tends to take up unimportant slots (Gloves, Boots). I WOULD like it if the helm became a belt or bracer, but eh.
I'd say, add DB to drop from GR would help a lil, maybe not 50, but something like 10-15 like you would normally get while runninga normal rift would be nice
wear sage set farm T8 no reason to make a goblin just for it. ITs easy to get a stack of them if you work for it.
That argument could be made for every single type of goblin. It doesn't really hold up given the state of the game.
As for the idea that DB's get less valuable, I don't really see that being the case. While re-rolling is a more accurate method for getting most gear, unless you have perfect gear it's always going to be worth rolling rares into legendaries/sets, even if just for the Forgotten Souls. You can't reroll into Ancient Set pieces, which DB's can get you in the cube. While you may not actively farm them, they are always just as valuable.
I think adding a goblin for them would be perfectly in line with the other golbins they added and a really nice addition to the game. Given their rarity it would hardly be gamebreaking, but like blood goblins, they are really nice when you find them.
Mostly it's because bots would farm the easier purples that always spawn and take like 10 seconds to get to.
Yes. No idea on the sophistication bots have for finding a particular mob but many purples still have set spawn locations. And until then I reckon we're not going to see purples drop anything nice any time soon. Was it Cudgelarm that was botted and subsequently led to all purples dropping only one rare item way back when?
@OP: As for a goblin that drops only DB? I can't help but feel likewise. Odious collectors are too infrequent and do not drop nearly enough to sustain the draw of DB. Perhaps another look at recipe costs if not a boost to DB drops? I feel that DB's are too ubiquitous. Particularly since it's the only reagent you cannot realistically collect any of until your first 70, seasonally speaking. Although in the rush to 70 that number may be a marginal help at best based on drop rate to difficulty. The costs in ascending order are Gems(x1), Rerolling(x1), Convert Reagent(x1), Extracting(x5), Convert Set(x10), Upgrading(x25). Maybe halve the latter three? Extraction - 3, Set Conversion - 5, Upgrading - 12?
Sage set for more DB? I like how the set has gained itself a foothold in the meta but honestly I'd much rather have the set do something more meaningful to the game to warrant that.
While having a DB gob wouldn't hurt anything, I think Gel gobs cover it. Since they spawn into a bunch of gobs, you end up with a ton of DB's if you kill all of them on the higher torments. Between that and OC gobs, I feel like gobs drop plenty of DB's. Perhaps making regular gobs drop more (since they are more common) could be a compromise.
The other thing is that I happen to like that you can have a separate build that incorporates Sages in order to increase DB gains. I much like having options for what to do, and that each of those tasks utilizes a different gear/skill set up, as it breaks things up for me. That's totally just one man's opinion, but I find it better than the alternative, which is that you where the same gear/skill set up for everything, because it's simply the most efficient at everything. My only complaint currently is that there isn't a full gear swap option, which means that I have 3 seasonal monks so that I don't have to manually switch gear/skills/passives/gems. The QOL, in my opinion, would be more valuable than a DB gob.
- There are already multiple goblins dropping them. To make him special, he either has to drop a lot, or other goblins have to stop dropping them. Neither seem a real good solution to me.
- Goblins are random. Getting a DB goblin would give you a boost for some time, and then you run out again. A constant flow is better than random burst in my opinion.
- Since ROS, people have been complaining that DBs are worthless, not picking them up 1 week into the season. Now there are special builds to farm it, people complain they always run out, and come with suggestions to "fix" this (just like this topic). The entire idea is to make them useful, wanted. If they drop the cost and increase droprate, you will stop picking them up again. I really like the current situation (and yes, I do run out, currently have less than 25 since I can't upgrade a rare in the cube).
- Current situation gives a new playstyle. Using sage set (even if you don't like the set, not everything has to be just damage, it's still a looting game), do difficulties lower than you normally would so 1shot elites instead of skipping elites, run rifts instead of grifts (so please don't put DBs in grifts), using skills you normally wouldn't use (faster movement, cooldown skills you can spam because in-geom, ...). You build your char around what you are going to do, no more 1 build fits all.
Something that would work for me, is all bosses in story mode dropping a lot the first time you kill them (new char, or complete story mode and reset it). Maybe some people would play a bit of story mode, trading xp and drops for more DBs.

The odious collectors do drop Db's. You don't need a goblin just for that.
yeah but what do they drop like 4? Not nearly enough

Blue ones seem to always drop a stack of 2 deaths breaths, and since theres 6 of them total, quite a lot of DB.

up the DBs for odious collector and RG.

No wonder there are so many bots around when the game mechanics make us mindlesly spam farm significantly lower content...
I want grift key goblin
