There are many players who do not post on these forum, the silent majority. I believe Blizzard/D3 developers could get a better understanding of the entire playerbase if they created a weekly or monthly survey. Something short and simple, required before you log into the game. With this information they gather, I feel that they could find which direction to take this game into the future. Also, I believe the playerbase would feel more connected with the direction the game is heading. Communication/Feedback is critical to a games lasting appeal, longevity.
Like a 1time 10-15 multiple answers questions, or maybe they do it 1month into an patch/season, and then ask again next season how u feel about the same issues/questions if/what have gotten better/worse etc
I think I would get annoyed if I have to complete some kind of question list before I can play, while I do post on the forums.
While the idea is good, it will feel annoying to some players, and will provide a lot of false information from players selecting random things to be done with it and start playing.
And, those things often get abused, you can prove anything with statistics, if you use them correct
If they would do something like this, don't force it on people, but put it in the battle.net launcher (instead of that add I have now to buy D3 for PS4, why would I get a PS4 and the game again?), and maybe give a pet or pennant to everyone who participates.
That is truly sad if a person playing a game they supposedly enjoyed could not find the will to complete a short survey in hopes of providing valuable feedback... Is this what humanity has come to?
Well, after a long day at work, when coming home and wanting to let out the aggression by smashing monsters in the face, being forced to read a bunch of stuff (in another language, I speak Dutch and blizzard does not support Dutch) and picking some values might annoy people, resulting in picking random values, or even removing the game (and not buying expansions) if it happens too often.
You can call it sad, but people play the game for the game, not for surveys.
For comparison: When you buy things online (like food delivery), they often send you a survey about the service they provided. Think for yourself how often you did complete them (I can say for myself, only when I had a complaint or could win/get something). Now imagine everything you want to buy something on that site again, you HAVE to review your previous order with 10 questions. Would you enjoy this experience or be annoyed by it?
This is why an opt-in with some kind of reward would (I think <- very important) provide more valuable information.
PS: Fictional example to show why people would not like surveys.

But with a stupid pet or banner reward they would do it... sad indeed...

Twoflower, there is no forum for the silent majority, hence the "silent" but TY for your valuable feedback.
They are silent because they dont care enugh. Not because they are forbidden to post. Forums are for everybody. if people chose not to use them, that's their loss.
So with your logic, if you do not post on a forum it means you do not care enough about the game? I have cared about this game since D3V and this is the first time I have ever posted on any forum. Explain that. Maybe some, not all, do not post because they do not want to defend the way they feel from other less open minded individuals. Or maybe they do not post because they feel it falls on deaf ears. There are far more possibilities than the two I have listed that would counter your argument of not caring. My advice to you is be a little more open minded, not so absolute, it blinds you.

Blizzard is most definitely missing a humongous amount of untapped feedback, meaningful or otherwise, by not doing something like what you are describing. I would not object to your idea if you simply replaced "required" with "optionally". It can be a blinking notification on the launcher. It should not prohibit a player from getting into the game and (relaxing/freaking out on RNG).

If something is bothering you, you speak up. If you dont speak up, it does not bother you enugh.
What you are saying is like "we should listen more to the people who dont vote". If they want to be listened to, they should go vote.
You are full of wild assumptions. I never said this survey was for complaining, it's about FEEDBACK and COMMUNICATION. Your analogy is weak at best. I believe you should work on your reading comprehension skills but as you have stated, You don't need my advice. Good day.
This would be far better accomplished by sending email surveys out. Isn't this something they've done before?
Yes, they do. You can Google "Blizzard survey" to find some instances of that on Reddit. Unfortunately, they look very similar to spam, so if I ever receive this I might just delete it instantly because I don't click on links in emails from Blizzard ;-)
They can be legit though, as a blueposter pointed out on Reddit:
@OP: There's tons of research about the impact of surveys - if you survey your customers too often it can actually be bad. For example, if you were forced to answer a survey once a month it might alienate a lot of people. If you make it voluntarily you might only get the frustrated people that are looking for a channel to rant. And whatever you do, you probably will never get the input from paragon 200 average Joe that only plays 1-2 hours a week, although those might be a large proportion of the playerbase.
On the other hand, most issues are so obviously glaring and there for years before being fixed (trials, off-screen charging mobs, terrible gap in RNG in rifts, and paragon being way too mandatory) - they don't need a survey to know about this. TBH, as much as I'm looking forward to all the changes in 2.3 and whatever they're doing, I'd much rather see those issues fixed first. Failing a 70 rift simply because of bugs or RNG creates more frustration to me than the coming "quality of life" changes in 2.3 can add on enjoyment. Mannercookie highlighted this in one of his recent video comments comparing PoE and D3 (while I didn't agree with everything he said, he brought up some really good points in there).

Keep giving them ideas, anything is better than the connection we have now. TY all.

Optional survey good idea.
REQUIRED survey = bad idea. As soon as the game forces a survey on me I'll probably end up trolling the answers.
