So simple question, how would the majority of posters feel about Rifts that had slot specific drops. For instance, You use a Rift Key, and select a Rift of Rings, where only legendary rings drop? Or maybe it takes 5 rift keys instead of 1? And of course with this, I would like to see a subtle decrease in drop rate so that gearing is not so simplistic.
The reason I like this, it allows you to choose which slots to gear. Cannot find that SoJ, or even get a good legendary ring? Well at least you know that all legendary drops, still RNG based, are going to be rings!!!
I did vote no. Not because I don't like the idea itself, but:
1) Blizzard wants to keep this game around the grind. That's why we have different tiers of items with different dropchance, that's why there is no more trading or auctionhouse, that's why we have ancient versions, and why stats are random. Blizzard also keeps saying they don't want to promote competition, leaderboard should be around personal achievements and things. As long as they keep this vision, anything that will make gearing easier is bad. If you think pure from a "fun" and gearing perspectif, the droprates are already way too high for a lot of items.
I do agree, when the focus shifts to leaderboards, where you NEED ancient BiS items, something like this is needed. But currently, it does not fit into the vision they have for the game.
2) It will be harder to get a party going. While you can do this solo, and you can try to do it with friends, public games are going to be fun. "Hey, is this a new rift, or almost done?" "It's a new one." "Oh OK, is it a ring rift? Because I really need a ring." ... See the problems that will come from it? They could add a solution (each player picks their type of rift when entering), but that takes away some of the action feeling. Like people used to say vanilla was more AH simulator
Again, not against the idea, but they will have to change their vision on the game first.
How about instead of item classes and having the ENTIRE rift set for ALL players it was dynamic and for other types of things we as players need (that aren't equipped).
Situation is a 3 player pub game, each player needs something different but want to play together...
EG:
Player 1: Wants to have 6x more Arcane Dust drop in HIS rift > Pays 6 key fragments to enter. (His drops contain 600% more Arcane Dust).
SAME RIFT Player 2: Wants 3x more Reusable Parts or whatever > Pays 3 keys to enter the same rift. (He gets 300% more of the mat that HE wants).
Player 3 wants more Blood Shards (Pays 10/20/30 Keys to enter) etc. etc.
The more valuable the resource the higher the cost to enter the rift but everyone gets to tailor their rift to their own needs.
Everyone has their own loot now as it is, we aren't reinventing the wheel here, the loot table for that rift should be able to be scaled according to the keys each player has put down to enter.
This takes care of a couple of problems.. Rift keys being hoarded will be consumed quicker > Players run out and run more bounties.
But, because of trading, other drops might become a problem, if you start to increase drop rates and let people pick.
Some will not share because they paid more for increased droprates (their good right), others might abuse the system with multiboxing. But it will mess up the little balance that is left.
Given that it's an article of faith on these forums that you can get 100% geared in everything you want within 12 hours or so, I'm not sure why it needs to be faster.
Unless.. of course.. people are wildly exaggerating how quickly they geared up?

100% geared up as in: you will have your set, an ancient weapon, and you can farm T6 like it's nothing. So, if you would consider the "highest limited dificulty" the end game, you are done with this game in T6, and you are geared up.
But then, they added greater rifts. Getting on the leaderboards is only something people with a lot of time (maybe 1 or 2 very lucky guys) can do. You will need every item best in slot, ancient, with the right 4 (6 if you count secondaries, needed for monk and DH on some items) rolls.
Mainly the weapon is a problem. Many of the BiS weapons have the lowest droprate. And there are so many types of weapon (sword, mace, ...) it's hard to get the right one, ancient, with the correct rolls.
So, it depends how you look at it. If you consider "easy T6 with full set" 100% geared, and you can get powerlevelled and leech a bit, pretty sure you can do it in 12 hours.
After that you farm to perfect your gear, so you can fish for perfect grifts to get on the leaderboard. But, that will probably never happen, since only few people have the time to farm for the perfect gear. And then you get topics like this

What do you guys think about this idea?
