TLDR; I'm BannerCookie, It's not a TROLL, I = BANNED
I'm posting this thread because of the numerous threads with incorrect info and people asking me if I am unbanned and rolled back like the others who exploited the blood shards.
Wanted to clarify my thoughts on this whole ordeal since people have been getting really confused by the highlighted section of my twitch broadcast that I put on Youtube, which I should've edited better obviously.
As I said in the news post on front page this morning, I am not rolled back and my account is a permanent closure.
I have no idea why Blizzard rolled back my accounts like the others when my account was already closed (Yes I'm just as confused as you guys are).
I'm assuming this was done automatically by the system that did the mass rollbacks or it is some kind of strange troll.
This is what my Client looks like when I open the Diablo Tab (For all realms including even PTR).
Obviously I'm a bit salty to be the only one being banned while others were just rolled back but I'm glad they are doing something about an exploit finally than doing nothing at all up until now and I don't think everyone needs to be banned for an exploit such as this when nothing has been done in the past.
Yes I didn't expect Blizzard to handout any punishment as they haven't in the past, so the perm ban took me as a surprise too but they probably didn't like the fact the exploit was being streamed to a large viewerbase so my penalty was probably elevated to a perm ban.
I've had a bit of a habit of "forcing" Blizzard's hand when it came to issues that I felt were important and felt were needing immediate attention, probably not the best way to go about getting things done but hey it has been effective
The first time I was banned across the forums when duping was discovered back in late 2012 by myself and a few others on the forums. After numerous attempts to have Blizzard respond to duping before it gets out of control, I created multiple threads across battle.net forums alerting everyone about the rampant duping across the RMAH and server. In these threads I offered 100m gold to the person to last bump the threads before they were locked, I was swiftly banned from the forums for my actions and it was swept under the rug until 3-4 months later a "rollback bug" was fixed.
Then during ROS closed beta, I was also banned several times for my constant disagreement with "beta testers" who spent more time on the feedback forums than actually testing the beta. To be fair I got pretty frustrated and started trolling these players who were inaccurately giving feedback and data for reasons I don't really understand to this date lol.
Even back then during ROS beta, the "entire" diablo community on the battle.net forums, diablofans and reddit were calling out for Blizzard to ban me on the beta servers for doing the shrine exploit /w lag switch.... on the... beta... server.... lol .....
Why the D3 community has always felt that it's unfair for other players to have easier progression than themselves in this game whether it be through Pay to win(RMAH/trading), clever use of game mechanics and bugs/exploits continues to puzzle me to this date.
This is basically a single player ARPG game that we are forced to play online, who gives a fuck.
Seasons are literally 0 skill and a competition of maybe 2-3 players per class leaderboard. Anyone that has amassed that much play-time and done basics math and game theory will figure this game out as long as you have put enough time in a 4 man group for the entirety of the season...
I'm not really sure where the problem lies in such poor communication between community and developers. The battle.net forums being an absolute cancer of a mess probably has something to do with that. The extremely small vocal minority who constantly spam their threads within the rules of the boards are spearheading worthless discussions of shit.
To be clear it's actually not a ban where they are preventing me from playing the game in the future, they are just forcing me to buy a new license for all the editions of the game I previously owned and I can play the game.
My seasonal experiences so far for Diablo 3 and when I quit
Season 1 - Quit Halfway (Filled with exploits/bugs + not enough to do in game / season too long)
Season 2 - Quit after 40 hours (Filled with exploits/bugs + zero new content)
Season 3 - Banned after 70 hours (Filled with exploits/bugs + not enough to do in game / season too long)
I have also been a part of every single PTR patch since the Closed beta of ROS as well as most of Vanilla.
Imagine that plus all the hours I spent on the live servers, obv burnt out as well.
This was a game that had trading and an active economy and some basic pvp in the past, yes people did brawl (Vanilla).
It is now an ARPG that has 0 trading, 0 economy, 0 pvp, and 99% of the items in the game are Bound-to-Account.
At least trials are finally being removed?
BOA used to be a punishment you would take for abusing game mechanics or rolling back your account so that you can't trade your gear... Now it's on all our items, oh wait recently they unlocked crafted crap... yellow mats to add to my 25000:1 yellow:blue ratio of mats....
Ancient Items were a terrible idea as well, why not just increase base stats of all legs and just make drop rates 1/10 . lol
There is an extreme imbalance in group farming and solo farming, basically it's almost pointless to play this game solo at this point (If you want to compete for solo but don't play in groups 24/7, you will have 0 chance)
Gear needs to be easily accessible to more than 0.1% of the population who play the game if there is to be any form of actual competition between more than 2-3 players per class leaderboard.
Call me silly but I remember MP10 timed runs by the community from Vanilla days being more competitive than GRIFT leaderboards. At least there was more than 2 people that had equivalent gear competing and there was less rng.
Imagine that, a concept from the broken vanilla stages of the game where evil things such as AH and trading was allowed being better... wtf?
Balancing is terrible every single patch despite the constant overflow of good constructive feedback for most classes from a large playerpool of PTR testers that actually play the PTR with increased MF BUFF(ABOUT TIME TY PHARAOH)
It's quite obvious at this point that internal testers for D3 are and will continue to be completely clueless.
PTR 2.2 was an absolute disaster imo. This was one of the longest PTR I have seen Blizzard run in a long time and despite that and all the constant feedback from community members the end result was extremely disappointing for every single class that I tried. Oh and let's not forget that the blood shard bug was discovered during PTR, well before the release of the patch.
Could go on and on but it's already become a gigantic wall of crap no one wants to read.
Sure maybe not all my opinions and views are correct about what this game should be, but I was already feeling pretty bored with the game and frustrated with the results of PTR 2.2
Not once in your excuse laden tirade did you even bother to mention that you've had fun during 2.2, 2.1 or any other recent iteration of Diablo 3; Reaper of Souls.
I find that odd for someone who played so much, or did you just do it for the money?
Follow-up question; Why did you cheat? What was the point of all that?
edit: I'm going to answer you seriously for once since prolly won't be posting here for a while lol
did I do it for the money? if your asking me if I did the shard exploit stream for money, I made a total of I think $25 during that whole 8 hours of streaming. That includes both donations and ad revenue for the 8 or so hours, most of it was donations since I didn't run any ads.
My collector's edition d3 and bla bla was prolly worth $150 or so I have no idea what is costs currently.
so prolly safe to say wasn't for the money.
Why did I cheat, because it was already well out of control and everybody was doing it offline/other streamers off stream.
A part of it was for the pure entertainment of making shitload of shards drop I will not lie and the other part is to bring it to the open and force blizz's hand.
You were pretty much the voice of that small minority of people and you garnered attention due to it. I even agree with a lot of what you had said and pushed to blizzard to fucking fix.
They banned you because they figured "well he was exploiting and has been a thorn in our sides, this will get rid of him once we roll the others back."
Fuck it. They created their own shitty cancer by trying to constantly fix this game and fuck it up further. The only way to have fun is to exploit the shit out of it anyway.
Just move forward to POE or something more enjoyable mate.
I asked you questions without insulting you (as many will do, I assure you of that). I did so in the honest interest of fostering a conversation, since I assumed that would be your motivation for making this thread.
I remember our first encounter. Regarding duping being "Rampant", was it not? To your credit, it was more of an issue than I had realized at the time. But the similarity to that issue (which you stated above got you banned from the Bnet forums), and this Blood Shard exploit issue is striking.
You brought attention to serious matters that needed attention. However, you went about it all wrong. You flew into histrionics with a very abrasive tone and a staunchly contentious methodology.
Regarding the Blood Shard issue, you again handled it all wrong. You didn't report the issue while it was in PTR, and don't even pretend you did. All it would've taken would've been one thread on the forums and everyone would've been freaking out about it well in advance of the launch of patch 2.2 ( a post you could've made if you hadn't gotten yourself banned from the forums from past behaviors).
Instead, you chose to sit on it and then broadcast it to everyone like it was a fucking joke. Not all of us are burned out. Not all of us are pro gamers that feel forced to play a game for 8-10 hours a day, so not all of us are burned out. Bottom line; This will cost you money so you will be back in Sanctuary again.
You didn't answer my question; Why did you cheat? Why did you broadcast a cheat to everyone?
Quite an interesting and insightful post, based on your perspective.
Seasons implementation was definitely an incentive to get old players back into the game, but so far they've bombed every season. Like you described, the first 2 seasons were completely ruined by their poor management. I felt S2 was just a rehash attempt of S1 because of how hard S1 failed, with the bugs and the patch being implemented towards the end.
But the point of seasons for the average player? Other than playing with the active side of the community, I sometimes question why some play on Seasons with no intent to get on the leaderboard. I've played all seasons so far, with my goal of getting within the top 500 of a solo class leaderboard, and that's where I find incentive to play through seasons. Overall though, I find the game to be a basic, mindless hack-and-slash which I use to simply kill lots of time. I haven't taken Blizzard as a serious gaming company for a while anymore. I was a WoW player before Warlords. They destroyed that game by putting you into your own single-player facebook hub while making you pay to play that hub.
Best of luck to your gaming adventures, Mannercookie!

Probably because blizzard doesn't pay attention to the PTR feedback forums. They never do. It's obvious with the removal of motrick's bracers on patch day. They can't do their jobs.
But why was Gabynator able to stream it like he was and only get a rollback???
Because Manner is a critic and does things abrasively because blizzard never fucking listens anyway.
To my knowledge, Gaby didn't stream it. He had the good sense to not promote a wanton cheat to the whole world.
One post using Bnet's exploit report feature would've prevented this exploit from going live, but many chose to sit on it as a means to use it to their advantage once the season started. Others used it to catch some extra views on their streams. Both camps want to blame Blizzard for their personal decision to cheat. How cute.
From what I heard, and I may be wrong, Manner actually played a part in the removal of Mortick's bracers by showing how OP they could be utilized, so it would appear they did pay attention to the Mortick's issue while in PTR (they decided to remove them about a week prior to 2.2's launch), only they made a serious protocol error in not adding the removal to their patch notes. A mistake they said won't happen again.
I've had a bit of a habit of "forcing" Blizzard's hand when it came to issues that I felt were important and felt were needing immediate attention, probably not the best way to go about getting things done but hey it has been effective
Just out of curiosity, do you know roughly how many bloodshards you got from exploiting this issue?
don't play one game too much at once. you'll burn out and suddenly feel like you're bored or disappointed with the game, when in fact you're just burned out from playing too much. that's usually when players start looking for ways to be a negative force (cheating, rude in chat, trolling, etc...) or lash out at the company.
I'm glad you got banned, You deserved it. No hate or anything from me toward you, i do really wish you all the best.
What i really found funny is that you didn't bother to report the exploits to Blizzard since the PTR and even after PTR. But i'm going to explain what you have done.
1- Doing PTRs just to find exploits and sleep on them and that nothing new to YOU or other Streamers, because that's how the top dogs competes, sadly.
2- When they go live abuse them as hard as you can to be in the top.
3- Mid season the exploits start to spread out and one of the streamers as always don't want the others to compete with him "So lets show it to the whole world so no one can have my cakes".
4- Season got smacked up and preparing for the next PTR.
After all of that you got banned and came here with a Wall of text which i found so damn funny!
Where was your wall of text. when the exploits were live ? Yeah too busy exploiting it and no time to report it.
Anyway you're fooling no one with that, Have a nice day.
If his intentions were to force the hand of Blizzard and he was willing to martyr his account, then I'm fine with the results. His means to get his desired outcome had penalties that he fully understood. He broke the rules openly. The others hid it. MC is abrasive and he got the other cheaters rolled back. It cost him his account. I'm glad he's accepting his penalty. We should all learn to accept the consequences of our intended acts. In this case, I think he knew he had a chance to keep his account, but ended up putting too many straws on the camel's back. In the end, he got what was coming to him. For those who closeted their cheats, I think they got an appropriate penalty. They only had speculation and why go through appeals processes. I don't want Blizzard spending resources being tied up in what would end up being a case-by-case review. But, I just hope Blizzard has a policy for escalating penalties with repeat violators.
My question is "Why wait until the patch/season went live?" He could have streamed it in PTR. I'm pretty sure if it was exposed then, he would still have his account. Because of this, I still have some reservations on his motives. I tend to see a dude just going down with a blaze of glory.
I did not know about this exploit until the night before i streamed it in the morning, not sure where you guys are getting that I kept this exploit a secret until then .....
+1 for MannerCookie, you are absolutely right about everything but no one here wants to hear the truth.
For the rest of those who still cry about how people should get banned: you are the worst kind of person on the internet, called SJW and i cringe knowing that at least some of you are responsible or in charge, or heck, even have kids and teach them your SJW-nonsense.
I tried to reason, I tried to be fair. But I'm out of this, you guys can't be helped.
Do you live in ferguson? You have the same ghetto entitlement mentality as they do.
Dude cheated and got banned. It was unfair that he was the only one who got banned but like exploit whine said, who really gives a fuck?
After reading the thread, I have to agree with ruksak. I applaud you for trying to kill exploits by bringing attention to them, but I don't think you chose the right method that would impact change and save your account. Please consider this feedback when you apply your new licenses and get back into Sanctuary.
I did not know about this exploit until the night before i streamed it in the morning, not sure where you guys are getting that I kept this exploit a secret until then .....
I am done here guys, take care
That doesn't answer two questions people have;
1) Why did you use the cheat?
2) Why didn't you report it when you did find out about it?
The two questions are inexorably tied together, but worth answering. After our first encounter here over 2 years ago, I did start to gain a bit of respect for you, as far as being a damn good gamer. I've seen some of your Youtube vids (trying tier 70 in PTR etc), and I rethought my stance on you. You don't need to cheat to get ahead, you're a damn solid D3 player.
But this thread, it's weak. It effectively says "I cheated because this game sucks". This is a Diablo fansite where many of the members love the game, and you took a big 'ol cookie shit all over the people who like it, as if we're just a bunch of casual assholes.
I wanted to hear your own words on why you cheated, and frankly, I'm quite disappointed that you avoid the 10-ton elephant in the room. Why did you cheat?
THIS IS NOT A PLEA TO GET UNBANNED.

After all of that you got banned and came here with a Wall of text which i found so damn funny!
Where was your wall of text. when the exploits were live ? Yeah too busy exploiting it and no time to report it.
Anyway you're fooling no one with that, Have a nice day.
Oh, k den. MIKHAIL, I LIED HE WASN'T UNBANNED

I am done here guys, take care

Sorry you got banned but you knew, you did, you were caught, now banned.
Hopefully the others who exploited this get banned as well.
Regardless, who really gives a fuck. Its a game.
Games will end, and people will move on.
Didn't have the integrity to answer the most simple question regarding his thread here.
Why did you cheat?
He did answer how many shards he got, that question he'll field. But he can't get himself to answer my question. So goddamn funny.

That doesn't answer two questions people have;
1) Why did you use the cheat?
